Isolator badge PLZ!

Last night, Tuesday March 7, a rumor started that there was a server glitch... if you died in the hollows you could go back to outbreak.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do remember way back in i4 a lowbie about lvl 7 told me that when he died in the hollows he went back to the Outbreak hospital.
See I think that when he was in Outbreak he died and went to the hospital there. Then he got out, lvled up to 5, without dieing, then he went and died in the hollows.
Then since the Outbreak hospital was the last hospital he went to, he was sent there when he clicked the "Go to Hospital" button?
That's the closest thing I got for an explanation.

That wouldn't work. If someone died in the Hollows, they would either go to Atlas Park, Skyway, or their SG base. It all depends on the last non-hazard zone that they were in (most likely AP).
I don't quite get it. I mean, I love collecting badges as much as the next person, but what's this obsession with the Isolator badge?

IF we were to ever add a way to get Isolator post-Tutorial, it would most likely be incredibly hard to get. Annoyingly hard. Irritatingly hard. There-would-be-a-zillion-people-asking-to-make-it-easier hard.

This isn't difficult, it's just a massive time sink. Difficult would be, say, the contaminated spawning as level 60s or somesuch.
Silas,
I'm replying to you, because I don't feel like going all the way back to the beginning.
I currently have 315 badges on my toon.
I'm missing some of the epics in heal, damage and inf. Other than those, my toon has every badge he can possibly get.
No celebrant, ergo, no 5th columnist gladiator
No Frozen Fury
No Hallowe'en badges.
That's 9 badges I can't get at present time. But I do have isolator.
Do I care if someone that doesn't have Isolator now can get it? No. Would I enjoy having more badges than anyone else? Sure. Might feed my hungry ego. But, 315 is doing that just fine.
The hallowe'en event badges will be available this coming October. I'm not sure what flaming hoops I'll have to jump through to get them, but I will get them, I'm fairly certain.
Come issue 7, Isolator will be available at a tedious, slow pace.
Some of you that don't have isolator want it, and badly. There is no "fault" or blame over this.
Some of you don't want folks to get Isolator, or the event badges. -- You have your reasons, and the main one is that you say it "cheapens" your own badge efforts.
I call foul on that.
Like anyone else, you want to have more badges than everyone else. Sure, you help folks get badges, they help you, it's all part of your server's community fun. But, secretly, we all want to be number 1.
And, I dare say that very few of you can tell me I'm wrong. Who doesn't want to have more badges as opposed to having less?
Well, by next November, the only badges folks will whine about will be Celebrant, 5th columnist and Frozen Fury. Still 3 badges my toon will not be able to get. But, I've got VIP, from the DVD collector's edition ( only copy in the store at that time) and I had no idea I'd get a badge for it.
So, old timers, you'll always have 2 more than me. I can live with that.
Inevitably, if most of us get our way, all badges will always be available for the industrious toon to get. Then we can all have the same amount.
And really, what would be so bad about that? being among peers is a good thing. Badges are for the most part what bring many of us together. They shouldn't be used as a social class indicator.

Speaking of time sinks and despite ukaserex eloquence, the simple fact of the matter is that there will soon be three ways a character could have used to legitimately earn Isolator in this game:
A) Those created post-I2 who spent 30 minutes, maybe an hour, in Outbreak to defeat 100 contaminated.
B) Those technically created pre-I2 but chose to waste untold hours "rerolling" to do what type As did.
C) Those created pre-I2 but its player decided to waste untold hours camping for RV Isolator to get it.
So, when we compare the times involved we have:
1 hour (type A) versus probably 100s of hours (type B) versus almost certainly 100s of hours (type C)
On top of this illogic we now have the slippery slope situation opened to allow what I'll graciously call the 'ignorant' subset of post-I2 players/characters to have the frankly unprecedented ability to earn Isolator in RV just because they were too lazy or undisciplined enough to earn it when they should and -could- have in Outbreak.
So did Posi promise to screw over pre-I2 players and allow post-I2 'ignorants' a chance to get a badge they really -don't- deserve? Because that's certainly what he's delivered with this sad mess.
'Social class indication' as ukaserex puts it has little to do with the matter when we are talking about a gross unfairness leveled at pre-I2 players/characters. It may just be me but I -still- don't like the feeling of being punished for playing this game since CoH Beta, and this is exactly the way I feel sometimes when I consider how the Isolator situation has been mishandled since day one.
As a pre-I2 player I never wanted or asked to be -given- Isolator, but I don't feel it's fair in the least to ask me to do any thing more for it than post-I2 characters had to when they wanted to earn it.

So, does anyone have a hypothetical time frame for getting this thing the RV way?
What's the spawn rate? Are they only in one spot? How long do you think it would probably take?
Thanks!
Spawn rate is 1 level 1 contaminated every two hours.
They only spawn in 1 tight area.
Anywhere between 2-200 hours depending on how many you've defeated outbreak to skipping outbreak (200 Hours). This is given with ideal conditions, ie. NPCs or villains did not kill the contaminated, and you or your team got the defeat "credit". Actual time will shoot dramatically upwards.

I keep seeing people post this 50 count. Every time I have ever gotten the badge on any character it has been 100. So I had to test this myself. I created a new character on test to see if this was true. Guess what? It's not. The count is still 100.

It only was for a brief period of time, but has since been "corrected". Both changes without patch notes, by the way.
It is now back to 100.

I agree 100% however.... not having the badge because it didn't exist yet does give me a sense of seniority, sort of like because I'm a veteran in this game.
But then I look at my badge count again and am hella angry!

So with the possible return of the halloween event, will the doors that you trick or treat at only be in PvP zones? It should be as annoyingly hard to get as the new requirements for isolator for pre-I2 characters.

Isolator in RV is a bad idea and its implementation is worse. Another bad idea is running old events and giving away old badges. Theres no point other then to feed to the frenzy of whinners that wernt there.
I dont have Isolator nor do I have the recent Valentines badges. I missed the oppertunity to get those and have no regrets.
BTW, gimmie back my old 5th column badges.

For that matter, the "Customer is always right" only applies in sales/services, and ONLY in either very high end or Family owned stores. Neither of which counts towards CoX.
You want to have your way and be right? Rent a Limousine, buy an expensive suit, or go down to Mama Joe's Diner. Anywhere else, and you get to suggest but demanding will get you no where.
