Poor Star Strider.
I'll second the "if I'm on, I'm in" comment! -
[ QUOTE ]
The whole of the game has this humongous tapestry of story threads and events and whatnot, but a large majority of them have only been hinted at. I'm curious to know what some folks would like to see actually fleshed out, explained, developed, whatever...
For myself, that list includes:
The destruction of Astoria
[/ QUOTE ]
Let's be careful not to awaken Mot while digging around in that story! -

It's a great piece, but is there a reason you decided to lower BaB's melanin count and bleach his hair?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not particularly. Does he look too light skinned? Is the lighting making him seem pale? It looks fine to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought the same thing -- he looks tan rather than black. Maybe it's a monitor thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I personally assumed the deep color of the sunset was slanting things a bit, since I can see it shining on Ghosty a little too.
It's a really good piece of work. Someone oughtta write a whole story about our Signature Heroes and Villains on an Imperious Task Force together -
[ QUOTE ]
He seemed to want them to be even more meatshieldy than they are currently, while at the same time having less damage
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman insisted on increased Tanker damage over the balance-related objections of several of his colleagues, as documented in a couple of interviews. -

I think this thread is hungry for brainsMajor Necro lol!
[/ QUOTE ]
Was Statemen on the cryptic side or NCsoft? Or did he transfer over?
Is he even a dev for this game anymore?
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman is one of the five founders of Cryptic Studios and is still there. He may not have gone to NC NorCal, but his memory lives on...in this positively antediluvian thread.
For what it's worth, his statement that ideas will reach the team through the forums is still true, so post away! Just do it in a newer thread, maybe. -

Have to admit I have never heard of this site other.
[/ QUOTE ]
The site only launched recently. Why not give 'em some support -
[ QUOTE ]
Problem solved because there is no longer a need to have a ridiculous barrier in place to keep identical items in 2 games seperate
[/ QUOTE ]
The barrier is ridiculous? You don't find the idea of heroes selling powerful items to villains ridiculous? You don't find the idea of directly equating Infamy in the Rogue Isles with Influence in Paragon City (its conceptual opposite) to be ridiculous??
How could this possibly be justifiable? -
[ QUOTE ]
NCSoft has nothing to do with MUO at all.
Ask over on the Cryptic Studio Forums.

I heard the pool is closed. -

Ghost Widow's tower has enormous spans of horizontal ground and Lord knows how much empty blackness (always wondered why Arachnos waste space like this), all somehow contained inside a tower that's as big around as an Arachnos Flier. Where did they find room to fit so much void in that confined space, I'll never know.
[/ QUOTE ]
If it seemed architecturally normal and not at all influenced by or demonstrative of weirdly supernatural tendencies of Ghosty and her ilk, I for one would have been very disappointed. It's kind of like how I'd be disappointed in Nemesis if he didn't make his interdimensional portals and near-flawless replicants with STEAM technology. How he accomplished this, we will certainly never know...but that is much less important than the flavor of the thing, right? -
[ QUOTE ]
Very nice. And yeah when Posi said "respecialization" I was like "wha?"
[/ QUOTE ]
Slots are actually called Specializations, or were to be called so. The term has more or less fallen into disuse, but appears in documentation prepared prior to release. Example here. Hence, Respecialization is defensible, since the respec process involves reselecting these.
I humbly suggest we don't worry about assigning an "official" meaning to the term "respec" when it can just as easily stand as an abbreviated form of Respecification or Respecialization.
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. -
[ QUOTE ]
At that point there was some dispute among the team as to whether ghosts count as monsters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now this is food for thought. Ghost Widow is certainly no monster, but Scrapyard is a Giant Monster ghost. The ghost of the Moraine is an enigma in the first place, since it's strange to think of unliving, constructed objects leaving ghosts behind. Let us hope the future won't be haunted by the ghosts of HDTVs, Moen faucets and Roombas. -

Major changes: with the introduction of Ouroboros, I expect to do a lot more exemplaring. Consequently I moved every single enhancement slot to a power I get at level 32 or earlier, so that I can maximally benefit from them; my level 35, 38, 41, 44, 47 and 49 powers are all 1-slotted now.
[/ QUOTE ]
/e slapreact -
There's a certain someone wrapped up deeply enough in Ouroboros that I wouldn't be at all comfortable "rewriting" my history that way...unless this were to come with [self-imposed] consequences later...

For reassurance after the recent big announcement, one can hardly hope for better news than this. Story has always been at the heart of the Cities universe, setting it apart from its competition, and Manticore's contributions in this area were and are so significant. Though a few of Cities' creators, architects and leading lights have moved on, we're fortunate to remain in good hands.

[ QUOTE ]
Oh, this is clever. This is so so clever.
That reference to the 'widow of Doctor Greg Miller'? Well, Dr. Miller is the second person you talk to in the Outbreak mission. He's the one who sends you off on the rest of the missions.
This whole paper story is about how different history would be if one single detail was changed. Remove Greg Miller, and the Outbreak Plague is still raging after four years, because WE haven't been containing it. In this alternate history, the heroes haven't been able to do the Outbreak mission, so the plague has been rampant.
The whole flow of history works out differently because of that ONE detail - whether Greg Miller lives or dies.
It's all very Ubelmann.

I thought "Rikti" was pronounced with two long Is?

The announcer said it correctly (remember what inspired the name).
I was prepared to be disappointed with his reading, but I must say, he won me over at the end. Can't wait to do my part to stop the invasion! -

The above list is a very sad read. It suggests that the City of Heroes/City of Villains brand is weak and hasn't got enough of a following to make these products go, and that's sad precisely because it isn't so. There have absolutely been problems with the way a number of those licensing and merchandising concerns were handled; when you're trying to divide resources between satisfying current subscribers and reaching out to the world at large, it's never going to be easy to find the happy medium, even for the experienced. The appeal and the community of Cities remain strong and capable of assuring continued success, and it's the details of how to tap it correctly that remain a work in progress.
While things aren't quite as dire as they may seem from a glance at said list, the comic was undoubtedly one of the most visible symbols of the game's place in the MMO world and its coming to an end, good business sense or not, is very unfortunate. I know that players appreciate the contributions of everyone involved with the comic, and it will be missed. -

The feet are Invented. The arms are off-the-shelf

Never trust a man who has a shelf full of arms. -

Then that means they should trash all taunt mechanics (even Gauntlet if you insist to think its not taunt) off the window.
[/ QUOTE ]
Safe to say that won't be happening, but at least Gauntlet may be changed to work on some of the baddies in question again.
Do you really think there is no equivalent of Taunt commonly seen in comics? If anything, I'd think the comic book idiom exaggerates the effectiveness of such a tactic, at least in comparison to what one might expect in a more "realistic" modern combat setting. -

I miss Paragon Dance Party. Sure, Pocket D is a massive impovement, but that had its little charm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Paragon Dance Party is still in the game, but not very accessible these days (I've only seen one other person in there since it became that way). -
[ QUOTE ]
Haven't we been repeatedly told that the AT we THINK is the best at PvP isn't really the best according to the numbers?

You were? Got a link?
