Super Group additions
Didn't read anything, threads too big...
BASES:
BANK - For Influence, Enhancements and Inspirations.
TRAINING ROOM - With instanced missions where you fight and get XP for fighting baddies of desired class (COT, Warriors, etc.) at a level that you desire. Perhaps XP could be half of normal XP but no debt could be incurred in the training room and defeated toons automatically rez at the end of the session. This could give toons the ability to train to fight their next encounter with baddies before they have to go an fight them. Perhaps low level toons could earn even more XP than normal here so they can level faster (Im thinking of lvl 1-20 so that PLing might tone down and high level players can get new alternates into play easier).
STORE That sells all Enhancements and/or Inspirations of every kind. Perhaps the ability to buy the better inspirations for a substantially increased sum of influence.
CRIME COMPUTER With stats on all SG members. Perhaps with some way of tracking or plotting story lines. Perhaps one that could give exact #s on powers effects and how modifications would change them. I.E. a way to play with your enhancements so that you can see how they might play out before you buy them. NOTE - This could tie in with the training room in addition or instead so that people could play out changes to slotting and what not.
TELEPHONE - So you can call any of your contacts from one location.
COMMUNICATIONS GRID A calendar of events where toons can post times for events. Perhaps a form of bulletin board system for people to chat off line that ties into the game.
TELEPORTER That warps you to the entrance or train in any zone of your choice.
DEFENSES And the ability to have an instanced assault of baddies on your base where you defend it.
BUY The items above to add to your fort. They dont come stock.
SG ENHANCEMENTS:
TEAM COSTUMES Instead of just colors for the team how about a whole costume set that the originator creates in addition to the team colors. Yes we can spend a costume slot on this now but how about a freebie that puts a specific effect as well as color on SG members. I.E. the team members turn on SG colors and they all get tiger stripes on any body part that it can go on.
GENERALS Or whatever the term for the leader of the SG could get maneuvers or some such team power for free when the team is made up of 3 or more SG members.
TEMPORARY ITEMS As a part of an SG I would expect that one could collaborate with local vendors who could build such devices for them. You could change the shops so that the guy behind the counter has a special mission that you can do so that you then have access to buy temporary powers/weapons. Each shop could have a quest and have one item to buy in each zone.
ARCH NEMESIS Pick a group that you hate and they hate you. You get a negative in battle when fighting them but more XP. Perhaps there could be instanced missions for this group that your SG has access to.
RANKS Need more ranks. Ability to promote/demote offline, etc.
Notification of supergroup members coming online.
The ablility to deny all sg invites.
I'd like to see the columns fixed so that they display the correct information and sort properly.
Right now "last on" sorts alphabetically instead of by date and "Joined" shows the same date as "Last on"
People... not everyone wants an automatic boot feature. Our supergroup contains many military members, and some of those members are deployed. We do not want nor need an automatic boot option.
Your supergroup leader should be on top of things enough to be able to make the conscious decision to boot someone.
And for those of you whining about your group leader/creator being inactive... I say make a new supergroup... problem solved.

Would be a real shame if the SG leader went on holiday and came back to find he had been AUTOMATICALLY kicked from HIS SG...
Fleetwood_Mac and blackbird7, that's why most have stressed that it would be set at default at no threshold and alterable by the group leader or founder to a 30/60/90 day threshold.
The said group then, knowing that most of the SG were military and possibly on detail, would leave it at the default.

This just hit me
Perhaps have one costume style per origin? I'm sure that the robotic looking Mark 67234X would not enjoy having a T-Shirt and Jeans for his costume EVER.
Read half of the thread so be nice if this has been said already.
I agree with 95% of what has been said so I won't put down all my ideas.
1) Change the name? If you have a SG growing fast but the founder has gone AWOL maybe the rest of the group want to change the name. Or if the name no longer fit the group. Ex. An SG started as "Fighting Mutants" but now cocist of all origins. Or the name was just misspelled.
2) Missions/TFs/Trials with same level foes. Sometimes a group just can't be SKed and exemped in the right way, having all the foes fight, as I guess the monsters do now.
3) Stick with the 75 members limit but allow the making of sub-SGs. Like the trainees, reserves or retired (all them lvl 50 with no will to fight anymore crime)
The Kickers base.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

That's why you make the auto-pruning an OPTION. As in you only need to use the feature if you want to and its not mandatory to use it. The best user interfaces have options that cover everyone's needs.
I really like the idea of haveing a nemesis for the SG but I think that this should be a series of missions... perhaps 20-30 long... that has everything con purple. This would mean that everyone in the SG can contribute.
The other thing is that I think having the founder as a seperate rank is a good idea but do it by account so that their other toons are affected too.
My other thought is to have missions customisable by leaders. I think this would work best with a window that has certain set options to choose from. ie, choose map (ware house, caves, Orenbaga or lab), chose level (1-5, 5-10... etc) choose enemy dependant on level (1-20 gives you hellions/clocks/skulls/council/vahz, 20-30 is Tsoo/council/freaks... etc) Then a space to write the story and add a boss name and voila.
It's probably been mentioned, but how about some super group exclusive missions, but this what I suggest. Aside from the standard xp and influence rewards. The super group is awarded "recognition" points. With these points members of the super group can purchase items at reduced cost and any other advantages or perks that the devs want to incorperate.
I would like to see multiple founders or something like a charter member that could serve in leiu of the founder, assigning ranks and promoting demoting members. The charter members would have founder abilities, much like the charter members of the Avengers in Marvel Comics--Iron Man, Thor, The Wasp, Antman, and the Hulk--but they couldn't supercede the actual founder's permissions in any way.

Simple changes (apologies for repetition of previous posts):
1) Customizable sg colours after initial choice (perhaps at a cost?)
2) Being able to buy a 3rd colour for sg costumes?
3) SG bank (which everyone can deposit into, but settings as to whom can draw and how much). Perhaps even a simple statement system would be available to leaders (who has deposited and withdrawn how much for a certain limited period)
4) Alliance chat (forthcoming I believe)
5) SG leaders being able to set up a sg costume, which can be set as default. At the moment everyone has the same colours applied to their old costume. This would be an actual new SG specific costume (i.e. everyone would have the same costume)
6) Option for SG leaders to set up more ranks. So they could choose to remain with the current 3 or choose to increase it to say max 8?
7) Options for slight customization to do with said ranks. This could entail simple colouring , or artwork for distinguishing between ranks (similar to miltary marks of rank or such).
8) Increase maximum capacity from 75.
More difficult stuff:
1) Bases!! (I really think this will add to community spirit, and will add to content for lvl 50s - also it will mean sg's will have a place to meet and will become more familiar with each other).
2) Customizable bases. (Give us things to buy and work towards - more rooms, decoration, villain detection devices for CoV or perhaps even events such as ghost ship or WL's, the opportunity to buy exits in different areas, upgradeable shops within the bases.
It would be useful to be able to assign specific SG powers to individuals, as well as to titles. Things like being able to invite, edit the MotD, that sort of thing

When on a mission, and all team members are of the same SG... make the NPCs and Enemies say the SuperGroups name instead of the players name.
ie "Thankyou Superfriends, I was afraid they would kill me"
"I here Aussieman and the Superfriends are on there way"
"Kill those meddling Superfriends"
"I would of gotten away with it, if it wasn't for the Superfriends and that hero Aussieman"
[/ QUOTE ]
This sounds really cool, but think how hard it would be to implement. Lets use this example and say your supergroup was named, "The Superfriends" - in that case the NPCs would be saying:
"Thankyou The Superfriends, I was afraid they would kill me"
"I here Aussieman and the The Superfriends are on there way"
"Kill those meddling The Superfriends"
"I would of gotten away with it, if it wasn't for the The Superfriends and that hero Aussieman"
In my opinion those pheases just sound a little silly and would detract more than they would add.

I think the trick would be in how the writers use the internal token:
"Thank goodness for $supergroup! I thought I was a goner."
"Keep your eyes peeled. I hear $supergroup might make an appearance."
"$supergroup! Take 'em down, boys!"
"Drat! Foiled again. I keep getting thwarted by $supergroup!"
If the phrases are written carefully, I believe they should work correctly for just about any Supergroup name.

"City of Heroes is at its best as a Superhero game that's implemented as an MMO, rather than as an MMO that just happens to be about Superheroes..."
One thing I think should be added is the ability for people to see what SG's there are. Maybe the guy you see to set up the SG can give a list, then you click on one and see who from that SG is on.

In this vein, as there is a form at city hall to register, maybe a way to get information in game about supergroups? Motto. Description/Mission/Whatever. Actively Recruiting or not (and whom to contact). Roster if they wish to make it public.
All I would could want is the super group decal/icon/design be a seperate thing from the chest design so that people who have chest designs already wont lose them. Be able to place that design somewhere other then chest like on the arm or leg or something.
Along with those issues I agree with from above (alliances, offline and inactive management, banks, costume options) I would like to put forth the following for consideration:
CoH generally seems to lack a lot of the driving force for organizing a true community. Steady groups are generally small, and composed most often of RL friends or small cliques.
As a contrast, I played EQ for 5 years, and the communities there are huge...on the order of hundreds of individuals on more than a simple name-recognition basis. I could zone in to many of the standard meeting places, send a 'hello' out in open channel and be met with tons of greetings, not to mention the slew of /tells that would ensue; and the constant stream of friendly banter going on made the whole experience immersive, friendly and enjoyable.
The reason for this is EQ has CONTENT that requires large communal action. The system is of course loot-driven, and that creates the desire to tackle the content requiring large groups (ie raids). But it gets people to join together for great things, and thereby people get to know each other very well in large numbers.
It's the difference between living in a neighborhood where nobody talks to their neighbors...and one where everyone gets together several times a year for block parties, Labor Day/Memorial Day cookouts, parades, etc.
CoH thankfully does not have loot as a primary means of advancement, but because of this it also lacks loot's strong driving force for tackling large scale content. In my opinion, CoH needs something BIG to draw together large numbers of people who want to work towards some greater goal, and foster the spirit which I see lacking. Hamidon is the only example of an attempt at this, but one raid-level encounter is not sufficient to foster a grander community. And it can't just be one such encounter, it should be a whole system of things to do.
Like maybe supergroup-level content!
I'm not really sure what to offer you as a suggestion beyond that; I merely wanted to express my hope that you can work on something to bind together the players. I don't know what your numbers tell you, but it seems to me that everyone is roaming around in tiny cliques, with a lot of loners soloing. It feels like a large, cold and lonely city at times, even with my long friends list.
(Maybe a small concession to player greed: it's very difficult to get Task Forces going...perhaps offering dual-enhancer SOs as a reward for completing them? At least this Trial/TF-only incentive might get more people involved in doing them...I like to do missions and TFs almost exclusively. It would be nice if there were people at the contacts looking for TFs, instead of the emptiness I usually see when looking to start one.)
Thanks for listening!

Things I been hoping for in SG greatly.
1: Sorting fixed (no doubt needs no posting but what the heck)
2: Main Creator rank and more ranks for others.
3: Succession of Main Rank to a named player that may not be online atm. I would make my main the leader as I have an alt of mine as the leader since the name was unavailable upon release but shortly after became available and I never got to make my alt the new leader.
4: Color/Logo change after creation
5: Custom Costumes would be pretty cool and give ppl reasons to join a particular SG based on theme without wasting a costume slot. And would make SuperGroup mode more useful than just to change costume style every once in a while.
6: Displayed Ranks or even better rank symbols that could be worn on costume to show what the SG thinks of a particular player, as would prove a players worth in the SG to others, perhaps only the higher ranks would get these custom symbols of appreciation for dedication and good standing.
7: Above all increase cap or remove the cap for SG's. I hate writing emails to players over 100 days not on and telling them they've been dropped due to lack of room. Ppl I remember and hope will one day return.

Pinnacle Villains: X lvl 50 Claw/Nin Stalker, Knumbskull lvl 42 Elec/Elec Brute, Metal Master lvl 35 Bot/Bub MM, X'ile lvl 32 Mind/Psi Dom
How about team moves like Wolvie and Collosus "fast ball special" or when roster is together boost to all present. Things that makes ppl want to join and grow in the group. Teamwork bonus for super group players playing together on missions... is that to much? special missions or security clearance like A-priority " Avengers type of thing. I always wanted to show my avengers card and get in some where...
further exploring the idea of team-colors:
a supergroup costume, which the leader can chose and set as the sg-uniform. like the costume-slots you already got, you can than switch to sg-uniform
a 5th costume slot for supergroup that actually supports your type of supergroup.
With free and locked options on the parts, colors and patterns
in other words as the founder I would have the option to
say that any shoulder pads were allowed and that the supergroup members could go to icons and change only that part
this would include locking of patterns and supergroup colors
there are some "powerranger" type supergroups so locking
team colors for the team uniform would also have to be optional to support thier group uniforms
this way every super group type is supported fairly and equally and allow more flavor
