I've never played Ray Cooling's arc, and looked it up in the wiki...only to not find it. Apparently it's Roy Cooling's arc, if one is searching for it.

Raise the difficulty. This will both slow down his killing speed and tend to put more pressure on his defenses. Let him continue to jump in first and get aggro with that good Shield taunt aura. Then pick off the bad guys he's already wounded, rinse, and repeat. -
Even if we do, some pinhead will use Rain of Fire and wake it back up.

I am just bringing up a baby Energy/Energy Blaster myself. I'm not a Blaster expert, so I have lots of questions myself, and not much in the way of answers for you.
My current hope is to scrounge enough slots to be able to generalize -- I like hover-blasting from on high AND I like blapping in melee AND I'd like to have some single-target and some area damage for teaming. What I'm not especially trying for is a perma-Hasten build or a defense build.
I really don't know if I'll be able to do it all, but I'd like to have Boost Range and several long-range single-target attacks (including the snipe), three AoEs (Energy Torrent, Explosive Blast and Repulsion Bomb) and limited Blapping ability (at least Power Thrust, Bone Smasher and Total Focus, and maybe also Stun). Oh, and the nuke.
That's a lot of crud to six-slot, especially if Boost Range, Hasten, and maybe Temp Invulnerability are also using 3-4 slots each. I haven't worked it up in Mid's yet. I may have to give up one of the three roles (high-altitude hover blasting, AoE saturation for teams, and blapping) but I am still hoping to be able to squeeze it all in. We'll see.
Question for the general readership: how useful is Power Boost to Energy/Energy? I feel like (especially since I am foregoing defense) it doesn't add much, just to the Medicine Pool heal and to my stuns, really (knockback too, but distance isn't much of an addition). Can I skip it, or is it the bees' knees for some reason? -
Quote:Eh, if the game were real life (big assumption, I know), no one would be thinking, "If I move around the building, maybe my enemy will get hooked on the geometry or step outside an active spawn zone and not realize his powers aren't working, and will let me beat him up." Unless maybe the enemy is a dog wearing an Invisible Fence collar.I have to agree with these sentiments. He's not hard, but I don't really love the idea of making players play a certain way, and this 'feels' like that is what's going on. If it wasn't an exploit, which I can't see how it would be, I think outside-the-box tactics should be encouraged, not discouraged.
And that's what the "outside the box" thinking is here -- typical MMO fiddling with map locations and aggro ranges to thwart a game mechanic in some way. To me, it feels more like taking advantage of the limits of computing than being a clever superhero.
Yeah, that. -

Quote:Okay then, I take back my complaint about your complaint that you took back.Actually I wasn't complaining AT ALL. I had posted a complaint about a week ago, then posted this to say (just as the title states) I TAKE IT BACK. Would a slot or two more be nice, sure, but I am over that and enjoying adding 3 new powers to my toons.

Nothing to add on the Malta, but I've been soloing a new Blaster and been surprised by being able to cleanly snipe-pull a LT or even boss that's only a short distance away from the rest of the spawn. It didn't happen all the time, but quite a few times I thought, "wow, just the one aggroed?"

As a rule of thumb, actual nerfs are rarer than bugs, and both are far rarer than the number of times people suspect something and rush to the forums. So sight unseen, it's statistically very likely that ANYTHING someone reports as a nerf is nonsense.
There are of course occasional exceptions, but by and large, it's almost never a nerf. -
Hrm. I vaguely recall hearing something about having too many story arcs open preventing...uh...something from happening...maybe it was tips dropping. Do you have a lot of story arcs started? Check for the little page/book symbol in the contact list.

Above level 20, right? (Just checking.)
I got tips normally last night, within 3 or four spawns.
A thought...are you running the missions set to "no bosses?" Bosses drop tips. Bosses drop lots of tips. In fact, I've never noticed if non-bosses drop tips -- I've been assuming they do, but at a lower chance; but maybe it's just bosses. Check your settings. -
Quote:No, you will be able to add slots to them just like you can add slots to Brawl. Anything from the default slot to six slots. The OP is complaining about not getting EVEN MORE slots so he can slot Stamina they way he's used to and have new slots for the powers he wants to take in place of the Fitness pool. For some reason a lot of people have looked this particular gift horse in the mouth.Am I reading this properly? We can respec to Inherent Fitness, but we cannot slot it? It will only have the initial freebie slot?
Yes, you can take new powers in place of the Fitness pool, but you'll have to find slots for any slotting you want to add to them beyond the default slot. -
Your mention of PVP is speculation that it was changed because of PVP IO farming, not a statement that "I'm talking about targeting players in PVP." My telepathy was on the fritz at the time, so I went by what you wrote, not what you meant. Sorry!
-
Uh...this reasoning has constantly been posted in argument after argument on this topic for years. I have a hard time believing this is an issue you personally have revisited time and again and yet you've never seen that answer.
-
OK, so, to recap:
- It's NOT new
- It was NOT a stealth change, it was announced -- and discussed on the forums
- Since it's been in place for a few issues, it's NOT affecting the PVP IO supply in any noticeable way
One thing you can do is use PBAoE powers while they're rezzing. As if I needed ANOTHER incentive to click Fire Sword Circle. -
Dark Melee and Fiery Aura. Mine's a Tank, but for solo play maybe a Scrapper or Brute would be better. Unique build-up type power, debuffing, two self heals, two end recovery powers, good single-target damage.Clicky and active but interesting to play.

Quote:What's a "buyout option?" Are you talking about paying extra to force the game to sell a recipe even if there are zero for sale? I think the point of having an auction house and items that drop by scarcity is that you can't really force something to be for sale; you are supposed to buy what other players put up for sale.Yes I know how to use the auction house but the problem is you need multiple receipies just to craft, its expensive for one thing even the salvage is expensive right now, there is no buyout option which is very annoying, there should be regardless for people do not want to wait forever to enchance, some of us need to enchance at those levels.
Note that you CAN use reward merits and alignment merits to force the game to give you a specific recipe at a specific level, they're just more scarce than cash.
Quote:The inventory system is highly annoying, there is no real assistence as far as inventory goes sure you have vault, but your not going to know exactly what you need without having to right down what you need from every receipie you need to use and that is allot.
It's true that ingredients stored in the vault won't appear on the list of ingredients you already have in inventory, but my solution to that is to use the vault strictly for the rares (orange salvage). I buy, find, or spend/gamble AE tickets for the white and yellow stuff, then when I am down to just needing some orange salvage, I check the vault while I have the recipes on me, and I can eyeball each recipe and see what I need to yank out of my vault without needing to write anything down. Then it's back to the auction house or AE vendor to grab any orange salvage I didn't have in my vault. -
For some reason if you buff them with the ice shields, the ice takes the form of a cross, and a white cross follows your character around. This seems like it has role-playing potential.
I usually take the pet that plays to a build's strengths rather than one that puts its tiny buff toward a weak area. So resistance builds and Blasters generally get the resist/damage pet, and defense builds and most others get the defense/end pet.
My Fire/Fire tanker gets more mileage than I expected out of her resist/damage pet since she's a resistance build who deals lots of damage, and her taunt aura can keep enemies from targeting the pet to some degree, so it often lives through several large spawns in a row, unless they do area damage. -
On another note, this finally opens up the field for the perennial "What's the best power in the game?" threads. With Stamina no longer being a power pick per se, maybe such discussions won't boil down into everybody nodding at each other about Stamina.
There's a bright side for you! -
Quote:No, definitely keep PB. It covers knockback but a bunch of other stuff too. It wouldn't hurt you to have the -knb IO from BOTZ if you do need the set bonus, but I'd ditch the other two.O, I didn't know how the the fitness inherent powers were. Thought u wouldn't have to slot em. So I'll correct it. My to KB mag is up 12. I grabbed and 3 slotted BOTZ because i wanted the AOE def. Can i drop practiced brawler then?
Quote:I didn't want the kb attack powers in the MA set because I like to be in the fight and hate when I got to run after baddies. Wat is ur attack chain recommendation?
I noticed just now you don't have Dragon's Tail, your only AoE. Is that an oversight or intentional? -
Go right to the horse's mouth and tell the Mid's team.

edit: As I understand it, there is (unless it's been fixed) s at least one known issue with slots for inherent fitness. Are these builds that slotted Inherent Fitness powers (usually Stamina)?
