I take it back...I LOVE respecing my toons

I have complained privately and here that I wasn't that thrilled with respecing because of the inherent fitness without new slots. I take it all back. I have respec-ed many toons this weekend and had no issues. My Fire/Rad Troller will be SO MUCH stronger. All this without considering Alpha Slotting. Thanks Devs!

I like this one better than the other one.

I still find it bothersome.

The results are good, the process is bad.

I'm not saying I don't appreciate having the ability to respec, because I do. I remember when the only way to fix a borked build was to delete and re-roll your character (which is how I lost two good names back in the day), so having the ability to respec is awesome. But I have so many characters at upper levels that it's hard to find the process enjoyable.

I have over 100 characters, that will at some point, all be respecced. I basically respec each one as i log in, I dont try to do it all at once i'd go mad. Its a technique that has worked well for me and made the whole thing pretty painless and transparent.

99% of the time I'll have a mids build already planned post i19 for the specific character (loved the early patch for that btw!)

The only thing I find troublesome on respec's is room for enhancements. I did a major revamp on my shield/elec/body tanker, that is now Shield/elec/mu .With this came 4 sets I no longer needed and had to respec 3 times just to get all the Enhancements off to other characters. No way im just erasing Obliterations, Touch of deaths, Numina's etc.

This has been the only character to have this hassle though as it was such a major change, the rest of the ones i've done so far have simply reused 99% of the Enhancements they already had.

I spent the first couple of days respecing my characters into proposed Mids builds.

I'm very slowly going back into said characters and filling in empty spots, redoing enhancements, and actually testing out said builds. I've spent far too much money on these characters, but i'm really liking the end results i've found.

Am I reading this properly? We can respec to Inherent Fitness, but we cannot slot it? It will only have the initial freebie slot?

While it would be nice to regain the slots I used to bolster the Fitness powers when I chose them originally, it would trouble me to lose the efficiency I've gained by multi-slotting them.

Would someone please clarify this matter for me?

Thanks!

P.S. If we used power slots to choose Fitness and several of its sub-powers, will we be able to use those power slots to choose other powers?

Goodness knows, I can use all the powers I can lay my paws upon!

Thanks again!

No, you will be able to add slots to them just like you can add slots to Brawl. Anything from the default slot to six slots. The OP is complaining about not getting EVEN MORE slots so he can slot Stamina they way he's used to and have new slots for the powers he wants to take in place of the Fitness pool. For some reason a lot of people have looked this particular gift horse in the mouth.

Yes, you can take new powers in place of the Fitness pool, but you'll have to find slots for any slotting you want to add to them beyond the default slot.

I can appreciate people's frustration there. More powers, but no extra slots does make things a little tight.

Still, try having a Kheldian... It's WAY worse, then...

I Have a lot of chars as well and I remember spending nearly a full day respeccing toons (nearly because I fell alseep in my arms doing it lol). The bit I hate most is having to redo my trays But, pretty much all my builds are better for having the extra powers so yea, lovin the new inherent fitness

I hate respeccing my toons. The mechanism in place is the worst it could possibly be without intentionally sabotaging it to make it harder. Regardless of the smallest changes you want to make, you're forced to make every single decision you've ever made, and redo every leveling action you've ever done. IOs make it even harder. You used to be able to just look and see that you had acc/acc/dam/dam/end/rech in a power and then slot it. A simple screen shot let you at least figure out which enhancements went into which slots. But all the IOs for any set look the same, and you can have the same set spread across multiple powers. One can have three of a set, another five of the same set, and there's no way to tell with a screenshot if that IO is acc/dam or dam/end. If they're all the same level, you have to go through your power screen and write down each item so you can replicate it.

I've got two full screens of characters. It'll take days just to respec all of them. When respecs were put in waaaaaay back when, it was great because at least we finally had them. But many years later, respecs are used so often that the devs give them out left and right, there's even recipes for them, yet the mechanism hasn't changed at all. It's the most basic, simple, brain-dead mechanism that it could be, and after all this time, we should have something better.

---edit---
yeah, I know I'm venting. I just hate doing respecs THAT much!

I make Mids' builds of all my characters. Once they're built along those lines, respeccing is easy--the build itself is also a record of what enhancements go where. It's still something the game should do for you, but this does make it less painful.

Actually I wasn't complaining AT ALL. I had posted a complaint about a week ago, then posted this to say (just as the title states) I TAKE IT BACK. Would a slot or two more be nice, sure, but I am over that and enjoying adding 3 new powers to my toons.

Yea I have no complaints at all. Though I REALLY liked someones suggestion getting 5 slots at level 50 (so you could six slot the last power) and would also give two more slots overall to help in the new slot crunch with inherent fitness. Im fine without but would jump for joy if they did it.

I dislike how much time and work you have to put into respeccing. It's true you can do the work in Mids and it'll be easier when you're in CoH, but it's only shifting the work from one system to another. Even with Mids, I have to go through and record all of my existing IOs and where they are so I can duplicate them there. It's still a lot of work you have to put into a respec.

It's why I leave characters alone until I have to do something major (inherent Fitness and gaining up to three or four additional powers falls into that category). If it's just shifting a slot or two around, or even getting rid of a single power I don't care for, I generally just live with it and work around it rather than respeccing.

I'd love if they made it so it worked like Mids.... remove a power or slot and you can choose any other one that you normally would have access to at that level. Then I'd have no problem with the system. But right now, it barely even qualifies as a system.

You can use Titan Sentinel to export your existing build from the game to Mid's now. It's a little touchy about inherent Fitness slotting, I found, but works beautifully in general. It's saved me a lot of time and effort.

Okay then, I take back my complaint about your complaint that you took back.
