Combat Buff Pet question
I wouldn't put too much thought into it as they tend to get squashed before they can provide much of a benefit. I usually just pic the one that fits my characters concept the best.
Johnny Aces - lvl 50 Katana/Regen Scrapper
Tommy The Cat - lvl 50 - SS/EA Brute
Capt'n Frosty - lvl 50 Ice/Ice Tank
Frayed Wire - lvl 50 Fire/Electric Scrapper
Spectral Visonary - lvl 49 Ill/Rad Troller
Um, the best way to utilize them is summon them to absorb the alpha strike
the damage, resistance, endurance and defense bonuses are all rather minor, so don't fret to much over which.

Well, back in the day, I picked the Blue Wisp because it gave me +recov. Every little bit helped until I could get Stamina.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
I haven't picked yet either. I saw that they have 10 hp and went us thats a very temporary pet.
I think when I get back to playing a buff toon with grant invis, I'll choose one for that toon.
They are buffable, right?
The only time I use mine is to end the chain lightning that the mitos shoot out in a Hamidon raid.

Yep, they can be buffed, on my sonics ATs I buff them with the teammate buffs and keep it behind me when mobs run to Meele range. I also use mine as a apha target if there is a large group.
For some reason if you buff them with the ice shields, the ice takes the form of a cross, and a white cross follows your character around. This seems like it has role-playing potential.
I usually take the pet that plays to a build's strengths rather than one that puts its tiny buff toward a weak area. So resistance builds and Blasters generally get the resist/damage pet, and defense builds and most others get the defense/end pet.
My Fire/Fire tanker gets more mileage than I expected out of her resist/damage pet since she's a resistance build who deals lots of damage, and her taunt aura can keep enemies from targeting the pet to some degree, so it often lives through several large spawns in a row, unless they do area damage.

Alpha soaking is what I use mine for, but I will note that the sonic -res ally toggle can be placed on them to great effect when solo. I am sure that there are other ally effects that can be used in a similar fashion
Hi there. Can anyone clarify for me the best way to utilize these pets?
Should I use them to shore up weak spots, or further emphasize strengths?
For example. I have a brute with good resistance, so do I go for higher damage and res, or give him the defense pet since I lack that?
Thanks!
