  1. Most of my current heavily IO'd builds are slotted with level 50 IOs. They're more readily available, for one thing, and I was in the mindset to get the maximum bang for my buck.

I'm working on a couple of characters now where I'm trying to pick up everything at level 35 for one character and level 30 for another. This just takes time and patience, but I've almost completely IO'd out an MA/WP scrapper this way (still level 36 so some of the IOs are waiting in storage to be slotted).
  2. Given that "Organica" is a scrapper on Pinnacle that I never play, I don't think I've ever had anyone recognize me based on my forum name, nor likely ever will.

Not that I could ever be as famous as the Goat anyway! ^_~
  3. Bought mine about an hour and a half ago via Paypal, West coast here. For what it's worth.
  4. Another way to level slower is to form a leveling pact with someone who doesn't play that character.

That may sound silly, but as someone with 2 accounts I've done this several times over, where I pair up characters from each account but only play one of them. It certainly slows down the leveling speed.

I've no doubt you could find friends willing to create a character and pact with you, and not play that character until you'd both hit 50.
  5. Bought it, and bought it again.

    A. True story. I logged on last night and had not one but TWO team invites before my character was fully logged in.

    B. I did the Synapse task force Sunday, not because I was thinking, "Hey, I want to run a Synapse task force" but because, before I had decided what I wanted to do, someone invited me to the TF.

    C. There needs to be some servers with Villain names. I vote for a Treachery Server.

    D. I don't have a point D.

    E. Seriously, I'd like a server list merger so we can play with EU players. That won't necessarily solve most people's problems over here, but it would be nice if everyone could visit a server that does Hami raids and Mothership raids on a nearly nightly basis, often both at the same time. Or a server where Positron speaks German.

    F. Although I doubt it would ever happen, I wish I could visit any server I wanted to with any one of my characters... team with my friends on Victory, then join a raid on Virtue, or whatever.

    G. Pie.
  7. I'm going to throw my vote in for katana or broadsword as a good mix of ST and AoE (each has a full AoE and a Cone AoE, and also an ST attack that can sometimes hit more than one enemy if they are directly behind each other -- very narrow cone. Each also gives you two excellent high-damage ST attacks). Spines leans too much in the AoE direction for me, and Martial Arts is mostly ST (although I love MA for stylistic reasons).

My other experience is with Fire Melee, which... I forget if it has more than the one AoE off the top of my head, but it's a very nice offensive set.

I have experience with /regen, with /invulnerability, with /SR, and with /willpower. Invul feels toughest to me, but I like all four sets, they all have their strengths. So far my experiences with Willpower make it seem like a high performer in most situations but it can come up short in a few situations where the other secondaries would really shine.
  8. I helped a couple of people out with transfers like that, but I've spent some of my money and/or stopped working so hard to make money, and I don't think my pockets were ever as deep as Smurph or Fulmens anyway. ^_^
  9. I needed more market slots (on one of my new alts, a non-marketing character). I decided to buy up a bunch of common salvage and resell it specifically to earn sale badges and gain more market slots. I started by buying something that I knew would resell fast -- Alchemical Silvers. I've never known a time when there weren't tons of bidders on those.

I soon switched to Scientific Supplies, because they've been in limited supply recently and that means I can mark them up quite a bit and still sell them. Just because I'm trying to earn badges doesn't mean I can't make money at the same time, right?

I bought multiple stacks at a low price (1,000 inf or less) and relisted them at 26,000 inf. That worked well, my bids filled quickly and everything resold overnight.

As the week wore on I got more bold, listing for over 100,000 each. By mid week the supply of Sci Theories had dwindled. I decided to see how many I could buy. I put in bids of 10,000, then 75,000, then 100,000, then 120,000, then 150,000. That only bought about half of those listed, so I stopped there. (I also discovered that I would not buy from myself -- is this true? I had some listed for sale at 121,000 and put in a bid for 150,000, and the bid did not fill. I only left it up for a few minutes though.)

I had no particular strategy in mind, I just had never made any attempt to manipulate the market before, and when there's less than 50 of something common that sells regularly, it seems like an opportunity. I didn't even attempt to drive the price up... after half an hour I listed everything I had for 151,000, and then put in bids for 5,000.

It's hilarious to get a "you have sold Scientific Supply" message, immediately followed by a "you have bought Scientific Supply" message, when you're doing something like this. It warms my heart. ^_^

At various points there were some 50 or 60 sci supplies for sale, and 2/3rds of them were me selling. By this morning, everything I'd listed for 151,000 influence had sold. I wasn't making a killing per se, but it was a few million in cash and I was having fun.

Also by this morning there were only 22 sci supplies left for sale. I thought, "Man, if I'd only saved a couple i could list them right now for something ridiculous." Then I checked my inventory. Lo and behold, I had one from running missions the night before.

I listed it for 500,000. I figured that was being pretty crazy. But by evening it had sold for a million.

    Heh.

  10. The General Discussions forum is for general discussions. Not difficult to understand, and it has contained "what if they did this" kind of discussions since day 1, so nothing's changed lately.

I think threads that are clearly in the wrong forum would be moved by the mods. But stating that you're a Praetorian Loyalist is not clearly roleplay. Maybe you can interpret it that way, or you can interpret it as just harmless fun.

I've never paid any attention to that. For that matter, I often just delete regular enhancements since it's a bother to go sell them at the store at all.

No, the programmers weren't smart enough to give you an option of NOT going to visit these contacts. I don't think that would take much effort... just offer, "You can do a real mission, or go see this contact." Old contacts offer two options on a regular basis, it shouldn't have been hard to do.

By making these various "run to see this contact" missions mandatory before you can get an actual mission mission, they failed hard.
  15. In tutorial:

    Open trays 2 and 3.
    Move powers around.
    Pick Veteran powers.
    Move more powers around.
    Resize and recolor window settings.
    Set sk/exemplar to +50/-50.
Set name to show always. Ditto for SG name.
Set up several numberpad key binds and global chat channel tabs.
Log in other account, invite self to SG/VG.
Come up with a better character name, delete character.
Remake character, go through everything again.
Think of a different character, log off and create that different character.
Leave tutorial, realized I got the costume colors wrong, run to tailor.
Maybe make it to a sewer team before going back to one of my other characters.
  16. I enjoyed this arc quite a bit. Moreso than Willingham's arc, no matter how much I like him as a writer, and much, much, much moreso than the Roosterteeth arc, which I didn't find even mildly amusing or interesting.
  17. True story:

One day I was playing Second Life with a few friends when the zone we were in crashed. We got booted to a mainland zone, and we started talking to someone else who happened to get booted there. We became friends with this random person.

My other two friends are from Alaska and Australia. About 1/2 year or so later, the one in Australia flew to Alaska to visit, and then they both came down to the mainland and we flew across the country to attend a convention.

The two of them were designing costumes for this convention, and as it happened, our friend that we'd met randomly promised to help them design one part of the costumes. It was kind of a hobby of his, and he was good at it. He also happened to live less than 10 miles from where I live, so I was asked to go help him out. These were costumes for my two friends, mind you, nothing for me... but he was doing it all for free so I felt like a kind of goodwill ambassador on behalf of my two friends. I went to his house twice. I met his other roommates, I watched a couple of movies there, helped with the costume design, said how nice his extra-special sound system was. I figured I'd done what was required of me as a goodwill ambassador.

Random friend, however, was one of these people who thinks that because we share a few interests (he even played CoH), that we were bestest friends. He called me 2-3 times a week to see if I wanted to come hang out. Keep in mind that I'm a recluse. I see my ACTUAL best friends (people I've known for many years, people I could depend on if I needed to borrow money or my car broke down, for example) maybe once or twice a month, and they aren't offended if I don't see them more often.

But Random friend was hurt. I lived nearby, we shared interests, and I didn't want to go over to his house every third day to watch a movie. I was a bad friend.

I think the last time I talked to him, he called me on a Friday to see if I could come over on a Saturday. I said I was busy. He said, "Oh, I'm moving and I was counting on you to help me." He sounded very hurt. He never called me or talked to me again, even in-game.

    So... yeah.
  18. This really is the new "they nerfed accuracy".

For the record, at least 3 people I've teamed with Thursday and Friday got purple recipes. None for me, but they're certainly dropping.

I've got some pretty nice non-purple recipes lately though.
  19. There's several clickies, the one that spawned him wasn't easy for me to find.
  20. Congrats!

I talked to you one day at the AP market... probably in August. Glad to see you reach your goal!

  22. Always pay attention to how many of an item are for sale, and (to a lesser extent) how many people are bidding. As an example, if I want to list a crafted level 50 mako's bite IO and the average going price is, say, 4 million influence, but there are usually more than 80 for sale, then if I list my IO for 4 million it might take weeks or even months to sell. Why? Because the lowest price gets the first bid placed at or over that price. So if, say, 75 of the other 80 of those mako's IOs are for sale at 2.5 million each, they will all have to sell before mine sells. And in the meantime, people might be listing more of them for less than I'm listing. ^_^

On the other hand if I list it for 1 influence it might sell immediately... for 1 influence. Or it might sell for 4 million influence if that's the highest outstanding bid and nothing else is listed for that low. Trying to figure out how low you can list it so that it doesn't sell for too low but it sells in a reasonable time frame is the trick.

If you see 4 others for sale, and the last 5 have sold for more than 4 million, you're probably safe to list at 4 million or even higher. Scarce supply will drive up the price.

    What's left?

I wonder if we'll ever get more zones via the Midnighter Club? I'd be really disappointed if they don't eventually add 1 or 2 other times you can travel to, but even if it's something they'd like to do, I understand that it won't happen before GR, and may not happen for a long while after that... if at all.

Along with Golden Girl's suggestions I'd love to see a Victorian Era zone... maybe involving a battle with a much younger Nemesis, or something else with a Steampunk flavor.

We also need a zone with a flying sky fortress controlled by the sky raiders that we can fly up to and invade. And jump bots that jump.
  24. Spent most of the time leveling, but at the times I checked my marketing toons, I noticed that stuff they had to sell was low in supply and selling for a lot, so I marked my sell prices up accordingly. ^_^ Also sold a Hectacomb that had been up for sale all week.

Mostly I took a scrapper from 20 to 41. Counting the week before 2xp weekend and counting tonight, I've gone from 1-42 in about 10 days. ^_^
  25. Getting Bill Willingham is pretty amazing, if you ask me. I love Fables.

I read PvP too. I'm sure the other two arcs will be fun, but I'm really looking forward to the Willingham arc.

Might be fun to join (or form) an AE team running these arcs tonight. ^_^
