So, how ebil were YOU this weekend?
I ended up making quite a bit on a couple of characters, not because of my impeccable market acumen, but because players crazed by double XP and inf bought up a bunch of overpriced junk that had been clogging up my slots for weeks.
The only meaningful inf I made 'on purpose' was flipping some low-level Blessing of the Zephyr -KBs. Put in a bunch of bids a few weeks back, picked up the winners and re-listed them at 100m each for 2xp.
They sold fast enough that I'm probably should have bumped them up even more... =P

I need to turn in my ebil card.
I saw no spell scrolls for sale in the Black Market and the last 5 had prices of 10k, 100k and even 1 million and I didn't care enough to even list the handful I had. (or is that ebil?! )
I was too busy leveling.

My City Was Gone
Went on a spending spree just before 2xp to fill in some holes across my toons. All of my over all money toon-wise went from about 600 mill to just about 24 million. I then took my 3 best earners and ran my usual haunts & some TF's. I crafted my drops and put away to sell for 2xp weekend, starting about 2 weeks in advance. I brought in 750 million over 4 toons as of this morning... Nothing overpriced, well under average price of what has been selling... Nothing started moving until Saturday and then it sold like mad.
Got burned on an expensive purple that might not sell since the purple market fell... listed it around going rate just before the supply increased... The only 50+ million thing I had that didn't move... Kudos to whomever got Iron salvage to go for 1 Million each...
Best mover was my scrapper. His war chest before 2xp was under 5 mil. Currently at 275 mill with a full inventory selling and more to sell... Best of all was that I got to play a ton of 2xp without worrying about slotting or available crafting resources.

I'll point out that even as distracted as I was this weekend, I still found time to vendor generic IO recipes just because I could!

I'm not that into the market and would rather smash enemies and I can still get my warshade purpled in a reasonable timeframe without farming. Granted I have to use Ouroboros/street sweeping/radios now that I consumed all my contacts' missions but still.
I'd also rather spend it than save it.

I try to avoid my 50's during DXP weekends (as part of the point is the DXP). I also avoid toons that I'm specifically taking through game content and "farming" arc merits.
I wanted to see how well my "scheme" worked.
Outside of a couple costly fat-finger mistakes (tacking an extra zero on to salvage bought for an auxiliary round of crafting, accidentally buying one of the IO's I'm putting up for sale as I'm price-checking and forgot to switch back to the sales line, all accounted for in the conversion from gross to net), it didn't do too badly.
I didn't exactly take a bath on Accs and Dams (lots of competition there), but I didn't make a whole lot. The various EndMod/Red and recharge IOs were more lucrative. Heals were so-so. The Defense IOs were really where it was at for me this weekend though (40-60K crafting+salvage and selling for 500K-1M? PLEASE?)
Considering the sale prices, I was stunned (COMPLETELY) that the salvage for said IOs stayed as low as it did Blue-side (Red-side, some of the components were nearly cleaned out and going for 125K each). I re-crafted Defense IOs (L30) four times this weekend and my salvage cost was never more than my crafting cost. All save for one of those fat-finger mistakes where I accidentally typed one zero too many. Even there, I still made 200% profit or better.
I moved several "rounds" of level 25 recharge, resist dmg, dmg, end mod, and end red. I made a tidy profit. Probobly enough to trick out my new toys: earth/earth dom and stone/dark brute, but not like, gazillions, or anything.
Someone was buying level 25 recharge reductions for 500k a piece. They bought a lot of them. Electronic money makes people do crazy things.

I wasn't particularly ebil. One of my niches had a bit of a run, doubling my profit per from maybe one million to two million and allowing me to dump much of my accumulated stock. Probably sold a hundred or hundred and fifty of that set. My other main niche seemed unaffected, and I only sold a handful and for normal profit margins. The stock I built up there may take a while to liquidate.

I decided on selling the crafted lvl 50 Run IO (redside)on Saturday. I sold around 50 of them, with a price range of 500,000 - 888,884 each.
I then became too interested in getting levels on my new claw/elec brute to craft any more.
Good times!
Go Team Venture!
I spent a couple weeks buying Karma (30) -knockback prot. and Steadfast (30) -knockback prot. I also made and sold about 20, lvl 50 dmg IO's. Got maybe around a 100 million.
I'm sure if I didn't have some toons I wanted to level up I could have done better. It was fun to watch the market jitter bug like it does when they do the x2 exp. weekends.
Aside from listing the four purples that dropped over the weekend, I did nothing. Got an SS/Shield from 37 to 50, a Fire/EM from 1 to 31, and some extra levels on assorted lowbies, but I had little desire to even log in most of the weekend, let alone work the market.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Before this weekend, I had two blueside characters running well over a billion, and three redsides around a half bill, maybe a bit closer to 3/4 bill each.
After this weekend, I'm worrying about how to store the excess over the 2b limit with the two blueside characters while all three redside characters are now sipping on some ebil tea.
This, and two fairly new characters blueside in their mid-20's already working in the 100m+ inf zone. IO frankenslotting focused towards acc/dam/rech is child's play and hardly puts a dent in the inf balance with patient, spread bids. For them, it's time to start looking at and planning and investing in some full peacebringer and ill/storm sets!
Edited to add: Any splurges with that kind of inf? Yes, one character, the peacebringer, splurged once with a long-standing spread bid of 17.7m on a Celerity 21 +stealth. It came just in time. Superspeed +stealth right under the nose of that quantum seeker (*tickle tickle* don't you see me?) and nail him hard (wham!) with a cranked-HP built-up human double strike, going squid to nail the rest of the mob... Heh, heh, heh...
Spent most of the time leveling, but at the times I checked my marketing toons, I noticed that stuff they had to sell was low in supply and selling for a lot, so I marked my sell prices up accordingly. ^_^ Also sold a Hectacomb that had been up for sale all week.
Mostly I took a scrapper from 20 to 41. Counting the week before 2xp weekend and counting tonight, I've gone from 1-42 in about 10 days. ^_^

Much like Nethergoat, I sold of quite a lot of stuff that just hadn't been moving before but I just didn't have time to do much marketeering - I was too busy levelling! In fact, had double XP not happened, I'd have hit my first billion on Thursday or Friday, and possibly a second (on another toon) not long after. I even had stock waiting!
I think my only stroke of ebil was a respec recipe I'd picked up a few days before DXP which I figured would probably go for more during. It did, by quite a lot.
Last double XP weekend I stockpiled hundreds of common IOs and crafted hundreds more during the weekend, and used four different characters to sell them. I made quite a bit, but it was an annoying amount of work.
This double XP weekend I leveled up a couple of Scrappers past the annoying pre-Stamina phase (well, one of them, the other stopped in the teens) and sold the drops for a bit more than normal. I made less than a million inf in total, but I had a lot more fun. Guess I'm just not very ebil...

Spent my weekend leveling when I wasn't asleep or at work. I didn't really get the chance to pop into the market and the few times I tried, I hard crashed to the desktop...

Still evaluating over my 180-200 market toons, but I have high hopes that "people buying overpriced junk that had been clogging up my slots for weeks" will have contributed a substantial sum to my net worth
Damn, the market moves so fast now that it is hard to this many market toons to keep up. Some of them that I log in on happily announce that they have bough 10 fortunes for 3333 each... ouch (which was a good deal before I16)
Didn't make a lot of cash, most of it was from rolling all the merits that the 2 toons I got to 50 had. 45 rolls, 2 LotG 7.5s, 2 miracle uniques, 4 oblit quads and a load of junk, very few of the 15-25 million items although the ToDs came in very handy for my elec/shield scrapper.
A few things that had sat around for a while went.
Common IOs went fairly slowly as some people dumped a load on the market at a price lower than mine. Didn't really notice any difference with them.

This weekend I played an extensive amount for me. Normally its an hour or two every other night, but this weekend it was 5 and 6 hour chunks of play time. I took an Ice tank from mid-teens to late 30s and played a few 50s. I am proud to say that my brief forays into the market (some salvage flipping, some recipe crafting) took me from 119m combined on 5 toons on Infinity to 960m by Tuesday. I need to combine my moola and make my first honest to goodness billionaire....
Im so happy....now I need to spend it
I did good on junk that had been sitting for nearly a week and quickly disappeared, but then in the rush to get back to a team I accidentally listed a lvl 50 common heal IO for 2billion, instantly wiping 100m in market fees. All I could do was laugh. I would have left it there as a reminder to myself to slow down but I needed the slots to grab a bunch of salvage to craft things I wanted asap. The market giveth and the market taketh.
@Poison Idea
Guilty of being tight.
Thanks to H1N1, I had th choice of lying in bed, earning some XP or making inf.
I picked #1 and #2.
I was mainly busy catching up on the games I was neglecting to play CoX, so Star Wars: KOTOR and Force Unleashed as well as Dark Cloud 2 and Onimusha 1-3. Tried playing Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and gave up in disgust at a combination of difficulty and craptastic design that results in frequent 25s loading screens.
On the market I noticed that my niche did really, really wierd stuff. It's been stable for 2 months, despite recipe prices fluctuating, and just before 2xp it dropped like a log. I had some 'just in case' buy bids out there at half what I sell for, and all 4 of them filled.
Then, over the weekend, it stabilized back to where it was before and everything I had up before the weekend eventually sold. I can't fathom what happened, but for a while these things were selling at a 30m apiece loss over the cost of crafting one from a bought recipe, during the manufactured scarcity of 2xp.
Not much Ebil-ness here, I'm afraid. I got distracted by some work issues, and missed a fair portion of the weekend. However I did manage to move some junk I had laying around beforehand.
Mostly I was trying to get some low-level characters that had been languishing to level up.

Started with a base investment of 8 million in salvage and crafting costs.
Put my Field Crafter to work crafting commons. Started with a spread of commons in Acc, Damage, EndMod, EndRed, Defense Buff, and Recharge. Had a couple odds out there as I used the opportunity to scrub my base of all the odds-n-ends salvage that was just cluttering the bins and costing prestige.
Loaded in Wednesday night across 7 toons (approximately 120 market slots) and priced exorbitantly when there was little to no competition.
None of the toons save my crafter had more than 3 million on them when I started.
I would then check twice a day. Once in the morning, once in the evening.
At close of business on Monday evening, none of the toons had less than 24 million on them. Net (after salvage, crafting, market costs), 171 million (rounded down to the nearest million).
83 million alone came from L30 defense IOs. If you're one of those uber-impatient people who paid 800K-1M for an L30 Defense IO this weekend, chances are pretty good that the money came to me.
Thank you.
Thankyouthankyouthankyou! </PenelopeYin>
Now, this is small peanuts compared to the quantity of inf moved by some of you guys here (hence my "I am the Diet Coke of Ebil" post over the weekend). Still, it represents 2137.5% profit off an artificially limited initial investment. If I actually had a heart, this would do it good. The shriveled little thing might even attempt to beat once or twice and pop out a couple clots of dried blood.
So, I ask (if you're willing to talk about it), what did you do in the great Market PVP Arena this wekeend and how profitable was it for you?
