NCSoft's Official Response to Us
I stayed positive from the day the news broke because the chance was just sitting there for another publisher/developer to pick up the IP and carry on.
But now.....
...now I begin to morn.

Leon Tasker: "Dunelm Group! What is your profession?"
Dunelm Group: "OOOOORRRAAAAH!"
Me: Hey! What's all this laying around stuff? Why are you all still laying around here for?
You: What the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron? The game is done. There's nothing to fight for anymore.
Other You: Let it go. War's over, man. NCSoft dropped the big one.
Me: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Me: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
[thinks hard of something to say]
Me: The tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

i dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone...good bye Paragon
I guess we're supposed to think:
"Oh, well. NCSoft heard us and gave our concerns serious consideration. They tried other options including finding someone to buy the studio and the game; but, efforts made just didn't win out. They said CoH is special to their hearts, too. I feel a lot better about NCSoft. I'm gonna move on to Guild Wars 2... maybe Aion or Lineage II. Can't wait to play Blade and Soul and WildStar." |

178774 Tales of Croatoa: A Rose By Any Other Name ( 2009 MA Best In-Canon Arc ) ( 2009 Player Awards - Best Serious Arc )
Well then, all that remains now is to find a way to target and destroy NCSoft. Pretty simple. Let's get started.
Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!

So I won't give them the satisfaction. They tried to wait us out - we didn't give up. They folded their hand first.
Why should we react now? Looks like they didn't like being outwaited. So I say we outwait them some more
We can only wait to see if people from Paragon Studios will speak about their end of things.

I can't say I'm surprised. NC had zero reason to budge on the IP because all they'd be doing is enabling a competitor. They didn't want the game being saved and they don't want anyone else to have it. I doubt they seriously entertained reasonable offers, and considering they just plan to sit on the IP, even $200 in pennies would be more than it's going to make then for the next three years.
Nope. Better to sever ties with these a-hats and start over someplace green. What we still need to do is throw our support behind 'Formerly Known as Paragon Studios' and show them we want a future with a quality superhero MMO made by them in it.
.
If talks are over, then I'd like to know what caused them to fail ...

Which, in my mind, thinks it's knives time.
If NCsoft can be made to fail somehow, the IP could be recovered from its smoking wreckage. I don't know how this could be done atm, but it's what my vigilante side wants.

Not surprised, but I did my grieving when the first announcement came down. Goodbye CoH, it's been an excellent run. Drat, I was looking forward to I24 too :/
When I get a chance, I'll have to post a thread with all the CoH memorabilia I've accumulated, just as one last hurrah. Will have to wait after I move into our new house though.

NCSoft have always come across to me like the wannabe kid in the playground - they big themselves up, but when something doesn't go their way, they act like whatever it is never happened, because if it never happened it can't make them look bad, right?
Wrong...
Me: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

With that corrected, I'm not surprised by this announcement. As I always live by, expect the worst but hope for the best. Well, the worst has happened. But don't give up.
This is just an incentive to make even MORE noise.
Shout at them now. Shout until your lungs can't take anymore, then shout some more.
Also, I wouldn't put all my hopes into an emulator. With as petty and selfish as NCSoft has shown itself so far, it'll slap down a C&D on that emulator in no time flat.

"Chew Electric Death, Snarling Cur!"
This. I've seen people spew rather laughable historical inaccuracies and actually believed them.
At this point, CoH's condition must be downgraded to "hope for the best, expect the worst."
