  1. The last set of character videos are uploading now as I type.

Not sure if I am going to make video play through of an arc or two with specific toons or not. Might do if the demand is there to get a few done or if I am in the right mind-set. I'll be honest as I have got close to the end of recording my toons, it is starting to get to me. :-(

If I don't make any arc play throughs, I am at least guaranteeing that I am going to record the final moments of the game on the Union server on Saturday morning. It will be with that video that I give me farewell message rather than here.

Oh, how I HATED hearing that.

I kept telling them, "Make them anyway! You don't know what the players are or aren't going to like, and make them for YOU! Screw everyone else!" Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't.

But I'm glad that in recent times, more and more people have been stepping up with videos they've made, and that folks have been coming up with nifty tools to make the vid-making experience easier/better/more impressive. It makes me wish even harder that CoH could have been allowed to continue.

I've already allured this to you in a comment I gave on your last video on Youtube, (DrJodisWelch) that in my case I had the some storyboards done for character trailers of my toons and was imagining trailers for the rest but never got round to starting due to time getting sucked away from me by other things in life.

Really bums me out that. :-( Most I have been able to do lately is record simple game footage with Bandicam and doing unscripted commentary about the characters and archetypes.

May still get a chance to do trailers down the line ether with another game or in some other fashion if I somehow can work with people that can animate in some way.

I'll still be subbed to you even after the game closes.

    All the best.

No problem marra. Actually if it wasn't for your videos/channel I would not know about Bandicam which is what I am using for the recordings. Had planned to get it earlier for CoH themed videos I had story boarded but have it now just so I have this footage at least. Before that I had no idea how I was going to record any footage because I wanted nothing to do with FRAPS! :-p

Update on the series, as I am typing this out the last set of my Hero toons (Or at least my Hero toons from The Dunelm Group SG) is being uploaded. Tomorrow will be the start of my villain characters.
  6. Finally found the time to start recording videos for Youtube of all my CoH characters for keepsake.

    Playlist is as follows
    http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...oXVdCo4W0svOkA

It will be updated as new videos are uploaded. At the time of this post there are only 4 videos but I'll be recording and uploading just as many every night this week at least and possibly more if there is inspiration to do so.

They aren't mind blowingly awesome trailer like videos of Samuraiko quality or even the expertise of JayboH's videos. It's just playing through a mission or two with my toons, offering random commentary like is likely to go off track and me finding that I have ran out of my allotted 15mins! :-P

The aim though is simply just so that I have videos to look back on of why I enjoyed playing this game for 6 years.

I'll count myself lucky on 2 fronts.

1: I'm glad I missed anyone going Drama-lama over that because, I agree with you, that sort of moaning would get tiresome.

2: I started on Progenitor when the game launched and that turned out to be one of the servers they moved character to, so none of my characters have moved and therefore required no re-names.
  8. Re-subbed and been playing for a good few weeks now. With server merges I am able to get more group Heroics and Flashpoints going than when I last played and dropped subs. Only got one of my character into a guild though via another CoH player (I'm on Progenitor with me being EU based).

Still does not feel like my replacement for CoH. Made a fair new characters recently in the classes I have yet to try out, while also starting to really kit out my Sith Tank, so it should keep me occupied for a while. However I can just see myself dotting between TOR and CO at times of bordem with more time spent outside MMO's than the last 6 years.

I'll keep waiting for the spiritual successor of CoH for my Super Hero obsession fix.
  9. I stayed positive from the day the news broke because the chance was just sitting there for another publisher/developer to pick up the IP and carry on.

    But now.....

    ...now I begin to morn.

    :-(
  10. Until the day comes that the place closes with no chance of anyone picking the game up, I'm still playing this:

http://youtu.be/RayPLl8IHXE - Snow Patrol, Take Back the City.

Surprised no one has posted this tune as a theme for all the actions going on to save CoH.

Or I've just missed it due to vodka induced blindness. (Disclaimer! Not been taken due to anything other than end of week enjoyment!)

Given the high risk, high cost and long development time involved in launching new MMOs, especially in the current market, I can easily envisage an established title like CoH being an attractive property to acquire. Sure, it'll never be the WoW-style cash cow that publishers dream of, but it's a solid title, prominent in its own genre, with years and years of content just sitting there, and an exceptionally loyal fanbase.

For any buyer, CoH is very much a "pick up and play" title that can generate a profit without needing any extra investment above the level it was receiving from NCSoft.
    All this!

There is a reason I am not getting too down over the news of CoH's planned closure. Everything to do with CoH and NCSoft's regression to their core market right now is lined up near perfectly for another company to acquire, invest and make a go of of the CoH IP. I am remaining confident this will happen, whether its SOE, Valve, 2K, Bethesda or whoever that picks it up (Just not EA or Activison :-/ )

If nothing happens and the game does close for good on November 30th, then I will get depressed. Not only from the loss of this game and everything I have attached to it but also that the game industry could very well have become soft and too scared to invest in an IP in fear of failure.

NCSoft is currently in the red. It had losses of $6 Million in Q2 of this year.

They'll snap the hands off anyone offering a large cash influx to them at this moment.

CoH was not making a loss but it seems that in order to save their skins, NCSoft are regressing away from the Western market (with the exception of GW2) and concentrating on their core South Korean market.

This game is still a potential money maker for a Western based developer/publisher that already have a proven marketing track record. It will keep those of us still here and more than likely gain new accounts simply by marketing this game properly.
  13. Just as we get Vanguard alerts for Rikti Invasions, The Council have there own that reads....

[Council Alert] A Torv Vermundr has been spotted in Peregrine Island! Avoid creating attention to yourself to be mentioned on Police Radio bands and have ear plugs on standby!
  14. I've been saying to my CoH friends for a while now that one obvious option that could be added to Judgement down the line is Marauder's Nova Fist.

I figured the main reasons it is not an option was to keep it unique to an NPC and that it was simply a more powerful version of the existing SS' Footstomp. But even though I do have some SS toons, I'd still give them Nova Fist if it was a judgement option in a heart beat!......

.....or at least until I got all the components anyway. :-p

Since your correct about us getting too close to violating forums rules I'll forgo any linking, which does seem like a cop out, which I apologise for.

Yes many news sources post speculation but in some cases they are getting it from the horses' mouth. Paragon Studios will agree with the statement that if your numbers are doing well, brag about it. It makes for great advertisement.

Other than that, the previously named company who make the other game that has been mentioned gets it main investment from another company that is listed as a PLC. As such it is very easy to research or ask for information like that since any member of the public can be a potential investor and therefore information needs to be made available in order to entice possible investment.

I don't play LoL and have no intention of ever playing it and therefore do not keep up with any specific updates they do. Even I know how well it is doing right now in player numbers and financial profit.

On the main topic, I used to be of the thought that having the Purple/PVP IO's purchasable in the Paragon Market for example would be a line that should never be crossed.

However since reading some people's points they have made in this post has convinced me that it is not really a problem.

If someone is rich/stupid enough to buy a full set of Purple/PVP IO's, it is there money, not mine so why should I care? Paragon Studios have gone to the hybrid model because they wanted or needed the cash influx in order to ensure they pay their staff and survive and have capital to develop the game further (or CoH2).

Hell I'd buy the odd Glad Armour +3 Def with spare points for maybe one or two of my toons. I would still be getting the other Glad Armour +3 Def and Purples in game doing my usual gaming, building the Inf over time to get them.
  19. My Fibre broadband provider would have to have a major network problem on the day of release! :-/

To be fair to them, they were quick to identify that the issue was at their end and not mine however it still took until around midnight apparently to fix the issue.

Still got work today so will not get the chance until tonight to remake King Bishop.

He'll have to put up being Kinetic Melee a while longer!

Fixed that. Thought I was looking at a quote from another post on here.
  21. Retracted.

Been looking at the wrong post line.

Too early in the morning for me.

    Apologies
  22. When I first started 5 years ago I was on Defiant not knowing that no RP took place there but I had started some toons and wanted to see them through. Of course they were all horribly built and under enhanced.

I ended up joining the SG The Legion Supreme and then things became much clear. My toons were much better built and got my first toon to 50 through their regular teaming. If it wasn't for that team I probably would not have lasted long on the game because this was my first and only MMO at the time and just did not catch on right away with the MMO mentality.

Sadly one day the majority just vanished. I decided to move over to Union and start again looking for the original intention of RP'ing. For the last few years the bulk of my friends and regular teaming has been from the RP community, not to mention allowed me the freedom to create a collections of characters that now have some detailed backstory and development.

CBeet get special mention for coming up for some crazy, unkillable build plans that lead me to do crazy things to be able to create those builds.....you know.......FOR SCIENCE!

Dark Respite, aka Samuraiko gives inspiration that one day I will get round to taking storyboard ideas I have laying around here into demorecord vids.

And I probably should give a mention to the girlfriend Alexia who I met through this game. ;-)
  23. Did business over the last 24 hours with LaDiva for a Glad Armor Proc for my Corruptor

Look forward to the chance to do business again the future. There are other toon builds CBeet has planned for me that will require more of them! :-p

    Recommend seller.
  24. Deal done.

    Thanks to @Cornerstone.

    :-)
  25. Little info for you.

It is hardly ever ran on Union. There is one case where someone on Sal's Badgehunters tries to organise a MO attempt 8:00pm on a Tuesday.

That is the only time they ever try and run a Keyes.

Not great advertisement towards someone like me that you have trouble convincing that iTrials are worth my time and energy in the first place.
