I can't call this a "favorite" glitch, but it's certainly something I found infurating: the broken map at the end of the LGTF. At one point, someone at QA told me that it had "always" been broken, which prompted me to make a video to prove that it worked fine at launch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOPInTuOJ2I

Never got a reply after that, unfortunately.

Here's a bug I came across again tonight that always gives me a giggle:

This happens when tails, auras, and back items still show through automatic NPC temp costumes. I am especially amused when they are such drastic mismatches.

One graphics bug I think is still going on in game now is with some of the Crey mobs. It's with the Medics, I believe, but I can't recall if it happens with any of the other scientist-looking ones. Basically, when engaged, one of those little medical scanners will pop up right next to their head and go through the 'scanning' effect, like they're scanning themselves in the head or something. It'll always stick with me.

I've got a couple of bugs, nothing too incredible but they were important to me as I encountered them myself.

Firstly, does anyone remember at one time, the texture for 'flack jacket' would sometimes turn transparent? I used it for one character, deleted them then cursed my mistake when the texture was fixed a week or two later.

Another one wasn't a bug so much as a quirk during the Halloween Event with an activateable door being placed in a location instead of just a texture of a door.

And the last personal bug...well, not so much a bug... I think it was just my computer slowly chugging away after alt-tabbing but...

I will be here for as long as I can. I already requested vacation days for November 29th and 30th as well. I do hope it lives on after those dates though. I along with Tony V and others are fighting for it to live on.

BBkickit!

So back in 07 there was a "Kheldians only" bug that let a PB or WS use their dwarf form transformation
to "break" the emotes list. Once done the normal emotes were replaced with ones not normally open
to players i.e. using a boombox and playing Jumpy (bbjumpy) would make you projectile vomit.
This led to all sorts of fun stuff you could do but my favorite was by far the air tumble.

Using the boombox channel Kickit let you perform the animation of being hit with Ghost Widows
Soul Tentacles (except without the actual tentacles... or horrible death that usually follows )
and it would let you tumble around about 10ft off the ground as if you were floating in
some invisible hamster ball/gyroscope contraption for as long as you wanted.
I made my first dwarf form PB just to have it and used it all the time!

There were tumble parties going on in Atlas with dozens of Khelds spinning/floating under
the Atlas statue but I couldn't find a screenshot (maybe someone else has one?).
Wish this one had never been "fixed."

But as you approached them, there was an intermediate range where it seemed the model got deformed. What happened was, essentially, they got pinheads and their torsos were stretched.

Unfortunately I can only find one screencap of it, because as I said I wasn't investigating it fully yet. What's really unfortunate is the NPC I first noticed the problem on:

This is present on live as well and can easily be reproduced. I normally run maxxed out and 200%
detail but in testing how many instances of the game I could run simultaneously
without lag (7 turns out) I turned all the visual settings down and saw this same thing.
I forget which slider it is but turning it up a small amount corrects it.

I remember when the 'card trick' animation was glitched. The neck and arms were really affected...

Another "was-it-a-bug" I encountered: the drop rates for salvage increased twice, so that by Issue 22 beta, it was double the published drop rates (I haven't checked since -- for all I know, it's gone up again). Was this intentional, or not?

This reminds me of a bug I found relatively early on in the game, back in 2004 or 2005; the outdoor map that had terrain like that of the very eastern edge of the Talos Island zone, with force fields on the west and south sides. Well, the force field on the south side went right up to the War Wall... but where the ledge did a jog inward, the force field continued straight up; if you got up on the ledge, you could just walk out through the gap between the War Wall's force field and the zone's force wall. The area outside was pretty boring -- it showed off even better that the map had been copied from the Talos Island geometry, as there were large holes in the terrain where the buildings had stood.

Way back when the game released the maps were not set up right so you would often see bad guys just leap through a wall. I remember having to petition those a few times.
You still can see NPCs in the Portal Corps building (the one at the base of the 'U' behind Tina McIntyre) walk out of a wall, across the lobby, and through a wall on the other side. For a while after the addition of Recluse's Victory, NPCs in City Hall would do it downstairs, too, sometimes walking across in mid-air.

I always assumed that was a side-effect of working around portals all the time. Couldn't really explain it in City Hall, though.

And while I am sure there's no real connection, I discovered today that Roy Cooling, the guy who helps you solve the medi-porter crisis? In demorecord mode the name of his model is Model_Director11_Ring. Random naming weirdness, or is Director 11 messing with our heads?

Was great working alongside some of you for the Extra Life event. It has been really hard on me, emotionally, to log in since the announcement so it was really nice to just get in there and play. Getting back into the game and just playing and teaming with others reminded me of why I love this game and its community. Though we may scatter, next year I hope we can all team up again to help the Children's Miracle Network.

I never thought the walking through walls or in mid air was a glitch! I just assumed there were paranormal people working there!

*** Spoilers for SSA2 ***

So I finally got on Beta today to run SSA 2 part 5. After completely clearing out the first mission I tried to enter City Hall to personally assure Mayor Morales that the coast was clear of all Nemesis assailants...

Hehe, oops!
