I often made use of the bug that populated radio/paper missions with the wrong enemy type. For a while, every character would make sure to have a radio/paper mission just in case.

When new type of enemies got added to the game, things got reorded/bumped around. Leading to some hilarous mob types. Missions filled with turrets as the enemy was great on a pug.

One primal character earned the badge for killing enough of the GR group syndicate at a really early time.

I also liked the costume bugs that sometimes released the shouldnt be released costume parts.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

No biggie, but amusing to me at least. Have had it happen a couple times. If I try to talk to laventea in rwz while in tf mode(ae) she will remind me that I am in tf mode and to finish what I am doing. I drop the mish and try to talk to her again, she says something along the lines of "gee, this is awkward, I am an automatic contact and don't need to be introduced. The fact that you can see this makes me feel a little naked. Take care!"

My favorite bug will always be the gauntlet hit a bazillion mobs with a single target attack. Seismic smash ftw. Also, tp was especially efficient at convincing the mobs to stack.

Oh I just remembered a good one.

This was back before i7, and I was teaming with a two friends doing, I believe Basse Croupier's missions, where you have to punish some Family embezzlers. Anyhow, we're level 35/36 and not fighting on any special difficulty, being very casual when we hit the key spawn which contained two Consiglieres.

Imagine our surprise when within moments we were dealt horrible, crushing defeats. Really, shortly after engaging the group we were all in some state of slowed, held, being tossed up and down, and dead.

The Consiglieres had each spawned a level 42 Singularity. Resetting the mission didn't help; there was something about those bosses that reliably spawned overpowered Singies. So we held onto that mission for a while.

Let me guess, the actual number of repetitions per second is closer to 7.576 times per second. In other words, Arcanatime. Right?

Was this discovered before or after the server ticks were observed in animation? If before, it would have given us a different way to measure it (record for 1000s of Indomitable Will with the bug, check number of repetitions).

As far as "favorite bug," two words: Knockback.

Back in the day, you could do some crazy things. Like 6-slot a knockback heavy power only for knockback, back when 6-slotting was worth it. Knockback scaled wonderfully if you were a level 50. A good /Energy blaster could almost knock a Hellion out of Atlas. Man, I was sad to see that fixed.

I also loved the fact that citizens would follow a flying hero "forever" in order to give them their reward for saving them. As a joke, I gathered about 50-100 of them one time. That was fixed because players could use it to grief other players by making it impossible to get near Ms. Liberty.

It was a few years ago when this happened before the new level adjustments were put in place. We had a full team around 50 with a few lower level characters in it which probably made it harder than it should have been. I don't know if it was a bug or if they were meant to be in the random villain list but I think the team I was on had to have had the worst bank mission in the history of CoH.

We rushed the bank as usual not expecting what happened next. As the flunkies were running out we took care of them but when we saw the boss I think everyone had to be thinking the same thing.... WHAT IS GHOST WIDOW DOING IN A BANK MISSION!!!!

She was lower level than normal which was a plus but she still managed to hold us to a stalemate and after losing a couple people there was no way to keep the damage going so we had to give up. Never saw that happen again but wouldn't have minded another chance with a proper team.

If I had known that that was the way to get QA jobs, I would have done it. I was in the closed beta with you at the time.

Read through and here is one I haven't seen.

When Khelds were first introduced there was a bug when they used a respec. It basically allowed the Kheld to keep putting slots in the same power. The person who did this slotted up their Kheld and then paid a visit to Hami, and two shotted him. They supposedly could have done it in one shot but the game engines maximum damage cap was just a bit under Hami's hit points.

Oh, another bug that I loved taking advantage of... >.>

Warshades could summon their Essences from defeated enemies. They could then exemp down and the Essences would remain at the level before exemping.

I would load up both of my accounts, hit the sewers, exemp my 50 down by teaming with a level 1 then run past any enemies after popping a couple purple inspirations. The Essences would insta kill the enemies and PL my level 1 on the second account.

This was fixed around issue 21 but it had been around since, I think, issue 4-5.

Before. Made me want to test attacks. Then it occurred to me I could kill two birds with one stone: I farmed Immortal with a Rikti Soldier (near as I could tell, by the way, I was the first to suggest that idea on the badge-hunter forums) and recorded his swings. I noticed a timing pattern that caused me to do further testing with attack chains, and that's what led to Arcanatime.

Although I was often doing and testing multiple things simultaneously, and in a synergistic manner, so linear explanations for what I tested and what I found tend to overlook important things. For example, it was trying to understand how Hail of Bullets worked (the animation specifically) that led me to, well, rip apart the animation system. That led to discussions with BaB that led to getting a lot of rooting time fixes into the game. And that led to a much better way for me to calculate the true theoretical rooting time of all attacks. And that *also* ultimately led to Arcanatime.

Two different trains of thought, meeting in one place to reach one big conclusion.

This also led to one of the most esoteric bugs I ever found. I discovered through a thorough analysis of the animation system that when female characters were hovering and used brawl they would punch slower than men. But only with their left hand: when they used their right hand the punch was just as fast.

I secretly wondered if, after finding that bug, QA was told to make sure there weren't any others like it. Which, without the automation tools I had to check for them, should have given the entire group a nervous breakdown (there were nine of them, and I found them all anyway).

Hey, that reminds me: TheNet, were you there when I gave Castle the list of all powers that reported the wrong type of damage in combat chat? I heard he gave that list to an intern to fix the spreadsheets with, poor guy. There were several *hundred* of them, and I wonder if QA was supposed to check any of that work.

What is kind of funny about that list, and I was fully aware of what I was doing at the time, is that the list included both player and critter powers and most of them were critter powers. I'll let everyone think about that for a minute.

Who actually sees the combat chat spam from critter powers? (the only people who would ever see these bug fixes are devs that take over critters during special events)

No I started just a few days before Castle left. I know the powers stuff so I can imagine being given the task of changing all that. Wicked. I did notice one slipped through with Water Blast which I think is still on live.

Net: I just wanted to say thanks for being part of one of the most awesome communities. The first day I returned to the beta server I was told "Hey Dispari, I haven't seen you on the boards lately." It's a really unique experience for the developers of a game to have that sort of attention and interest in the player community. It really made me feel invested and a part of the game. Thank you and all the other devs I spoke to over the years.

Also:

This character is an Elec/Invuln Brute, and no, nobody was buffing me.

I'm starting to believe that. Because of his position he had to restrain it (and everyone else).

However now... now they have unwittingly unleashed his true potential.

The fact that critters have combat chat texts in their powers has always amused me.

I can't hide anymore either. This is @Manga's original account.

And the name CuppaManga was not originally intended to be permanent. I changed it after CuppaJo moved on, and the forums upgraded before I could change it back.

I can vouch for that. It took me a while to figure out when to take the devs seriously, and then I realized I should always take you seriously, just also completely loony.

I just came here to say that Ninja Run/Wheelbarrow sync errors while waiting in the supergroup base to test Cathedral of Pain was the best thing ever. 10 people running and jumping around at Ninja Run speed, only... wheelbarrows.

I think this was from that day.
Any clue if those pics were from September 30th, 2011, Dispari?
I remember now, (multiple) crab backpacks appearing for some powers (I think defensive toggles, not sure)... claws appearing for other things... tentacles for... maybe for sprint or something. It was awesomely bizarre.
Surprised no one else has mentioned it.
