Not every artist I got to participate is open for commissions at this time... or ever for that matter.
Through coXso some people have won what they could not buy, even if they wanted to and had the money.

Quote:Heroic labor of love indeed. Well said.ChristopherRobin deserves extra KUDOS. Their original coXso weekend event starting 11/02/2012 was extended again and again to include the maximum number of players and artists possible, and then some, clear through 11/20/2012. Truly heroic labor of love .............................. And once more a big THANK YOU to ChristopherRobin for making it all happen!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make this summary and for the kind words. It is most appreciated and you're welcome.
I wanted a way to give something back to the great community here and promote the many CoH artists who've created over the years.
Through this many people got a way to preserve their beloved characters and several of the participating artists got paid commission work as well.
Win/win/win in my book!
11/03 #2 Art Winner: ??? from PlayWorkArt
11/04 #3 Art Winner: ??? from lilwassu
The 2nd word puzzle for the PlayWorkArt piece was solved by Sapphic Neko (resulting piece is up in the
coXso prize artz unite! thread already) and the third puzzle was solved by Zekiran-Immortal (Lethe-Gray on DA).

I'm glad you had that sale and that I got in before the crowds.
Love it DD, thanks!
-
Sorry for the absence, Black Friday kicks off my busy season (custom computer building) with all the sales on parts that are gone in hours/minutes if I don't stay up to the moment.
Some great new developments here and thanks for posting them.
I mentioned to all the artists that I would have a thread on the forums (and a folder in the CoH group on DA for when the forums shut down) for the completed works but I never said anything about their WIP's. Zoe may be okay with it since she posted it on DA but it's always best to ask the artists first before re-posting their stuffz in a way they don't know about or never agreed to.
Remember these are gift artz not commissions.
P.S. I love the Nojitsu piece and that HugoHugo is pretty sweet as well.
@Jayboh: Your sister did a fine job with her coloring.

Thread already created for grouping them all in one place here. I debated putting it in the 606 (where I think it should be) but more people will see it and be able to reply if it is in All Access.
The artists will get more exposure too and that is part of the goal here. Many have gotten commission work already as a result of participating in the coXso event.
Quote:Offhand I don't know how but I know there is a way. I've seen lots of stuff linked from DA. CR should chime in shortly with the correct "grammar"..........
If you want to see the correct "syntax" () you can quote my post.
You can also thumbnail it with a link to the big version by clicking the image but that takes more work
and it might just be easier for most people to host in on photobucket or some site that does all the link generating for you.

Quote:As Toadliquors wife, Im the lucky recipient of the ignoring orange text prize. I hope this is the right spot to post this.
Toadliquor, you are a super Smartypants! Thank you so much for this wonderful Christmas gift. Dont forget, though: you were stuck on the puzzle all day at work until we started talking it through out loud.
Id like to thank ChristopherRobin for coordinating this great contest. You sir are one of the many many reasons that this community is the best of all. Id like to thank all the wonderful artists that donated their time and talents to the contests as well.
The character I chose to immortalize is my main, a broadsword/shield scrapper that I created on the day shield defense came out. I make a ton of alts, dozens of them get deleted, and she was originally supposed to be a jokey kind of creation: big, mean and slow; a fantasy medieval look in a tights-and-masks world; with a cumbersome name to boot. But when I started playing her, I discovered she fit my playstyle perfectly. Yes, she was slow, but she hit hard, with authority. I really liked that. And then came shield charge and way over soft cap defenses, hol-ee schneikeys!
Toadliquor will have a laugh if I say this: properly buffed, she tanks like a beast
Shes been the one I bring to get badges, accolades, kill AVs, do crafting, events, etc.
She is based on Erik the Reds daughter, here is a little article on Wikipedia about Freydis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyd%C...Dksd%C3%B3ttir.
So without further ado, CoH, please meet Freyda Eiriksdottir:

Id like to thank Isikol for his wonderful work. It reminds me a little of the movie Excalibur (the visuals for that movie have always made my jaw drop). Im overwhelmed at how well his artwork portrays her expression, body language and overall sense of badassedness that I felt when I played her.
I highly recommend Isikol because he was polite, professional, and fast. He asked questions and listened to what I had to say. Please do think about immortalizing your best loved characters with some artwork. It takes a little of the sting out of losing them forever.
You are most welcome. I'm glad you are so happy with the turnout and yeah the prize really speaks for itself.
Also I posted this over in the CoXso Prize Artz Unite! thread in all access for you, feel free to add your comments there as well.
Cheers!

Lol! That is soooo Sapphic Neko.
And another! This is Isikol's prize won by Toadliquor for his wife.
Here ref is here.

Winner of my penciled bust is TimtheEnchanter
Winner of Night Hornets 3D render is Electric Knight
Winner of AngerBunny's waist up is HeroHitero
Congratulations all please PM me with the name of the characters you want done and I will get you a prize number!
Please contact the artists as soon as you get your info, they have been waiting a while now.

-
Quote:Yeah it was filled by last guesses and sending people their prize numbers and such so only a few slots were open. Created more space now. I'll wait another hour on that. Also: inbox full again. I'd say it was because of this new contest, but then why did nobody post on the thread as well?
-
... and it is. Phew.
However...
There are 3 people who haven't claimed their prize and notes/PM's and
ingame tells were sent with no response in more than a week so their prizes are forfeit.
They are:
1x Christopher Robin pencil bust.
1x Night Hornet 3D full scene render.
1x AngerBunny color waist up digital painting.
I said no more puzzles or costume contests so to keep it fair yet still
spread things out to give people (who have not won yet) a chance I'm going to
give one in private (mine), one in public here (night hornet), and one ingame (anger bunny).
For mine it's simple, if you have NOT won a prize in any coXso event yet send
me a PM here with 20 words or less. Say whatever you like but it must
be less than 20 words total. I will pick one after 6pmCST.
For Night Hornet (again people who have NOT won already please) just
post in this thread and I will take all the names, write them on
strips of paper, put them in a hat and pull one at random.
Winner will be announced here after 6pmCST.
For AngerBunny I will pop in game and ask a simple question. The first one to send
me a private tell with the answer wins. Those who have been paying attention
to the coXso threads will know what server and what hero I will be on.
Good luck everyone.
-
Sorry repeated messages were sent and I waited long enough. I cannot hold the artists time up waiting any more
the event is long past so these three prizes are forfeit. I will come up with a way to random gift them at some point today.
-
Thanks for posting that DD. Name link doesn't seem to work but his journal is here... Myke Manila.
Also, a bit of news, he just completed his first professional cover art assignment for Advent comics but he's still
open for regular commissions as of this writing. Click his name for more info on how you can get your character memorialized by Myke.
-
Quick get your sister to color it now and have 4 versions.
-
Ding!
You did indeed!
Congratulations ToadLiquor.
Because I know people will ask, it goes...
1. No More (ingame protest sign to be read literally)
2. Art (random painting chosen and made too small to draw attention to any details)
3. Sew (picture of a woman using a needle and thread to sew)
4. All Access (this section of the forums note the dashes giving away the # of letters)
5. Can (unremarkable on purpose metal can)
6. Go (green traffic light, green means go!)
7. Back To (Two backwards, clues include the last letter being capitalized again as
in a prior puzzle also the letter direction is a word as in the "heads up" display puzzle)
8. Ignoring (Igneous minus Neo minus US {leaves "IG"} plus Stephanie Peebles from Striga.
Her plight is her wedding ring was stolen. I used photoshop to darken everything around except her
hand to which I added a light patch of skin to show she currently has "No Ring" on. IG+NoRing= ignoring)
9. Orange Text (An orange behind the word text. The color all my text has been for the 3+ years I've been on the forums)
How it reads:
"No more art so the All Access can go back to ignoring the orange text."
(I would still have accepted if either "the" was missing as they are not actually
in the puzzle or any other minor variation as long as all the individual pieces were correctly solved)
What it means:
Running joke that even though I have the largest, most viewed art thread on the forums
(stickies don't count) over in the 606 section, over here in All Access, unless I
am giving stuff away my posts are generally ignored.
-
Still open! Surely someone will put it all together and win... I'm kinda surprised SinStalker, HeroMaster
and some of the others who were vocal in wanting 3D art aren't trying for this?
Yep many have already. When it fills I'll empty it but I'll try to keep it from filling again.
Quote:I'm also assuming that since this is all one image, that this is a single phrase. I presume it's at least valid to ask about that.
-
Still waiting on Dagalathor, Sharkatron and CeraFrost then.
-
Quote:Hahaha Yeah I know exactly what you mean.I think I found something in that puzzle that probably wasn't even meant to be there. And now it's going to permanently screw with my ability to objectively look at it.
Hate it when that happens.
After it's been solved I'd be curious to know what you think you discovered.
-
Well first let me just say that was a tremendous response. Filled the last 30 (of 2000) spots in my inbox again.
Secondly, let me say after wading through all the answers this is amazingly still open.
Even more impressive is that everyone seems to be getting a different piece
wrong than almost everyone else. Some are very close though.
This maybe my most evenly matched puzzle yet.
Thirdly for all those (in good fun) virtually shaking fists in PM and private at the
lost sleep and mental anguish this brain teaser has caused allow
me to say...
Made more room in my inbox, have at ye!
