In either case, if it got to the point where you felt uncomfortable you can tell them to take it to tells and, if they refuse, report them to a GM. That's against the rules and the GM's can give a warning or even a ban for cybering in public.

Something can be designated for a purpose without being designed for it. (E.G. a "smackin' broom" designated to be used to discipline hooligans, as opposed to its designed purpose, sweeping.)

What's with some of these players who hover up not five feet in front of my character as they spam 'forming Arena badge team' every five seconds on every public channel including Atlas Park broadcast? I mean, really, what's up with that?

First, Cool! I wondered where you got those badges!
Second, I hang out in D some times to RP for the most part it is just ..coffee talk pretty mundane stuff actually.. so mundane in fact ERP would be a welcome change! :P I mean to the point i hear all these "rumors" and just think they are COH versions of urban myths. But then i am not really paying attention either, Because i am scanning text looking for something to get involved in.
I will also add I pretty much only go to D when I'm bored and there is not any active RP going on (Sadly i have yet to make friends to get involved in some of the cool RP plots going on more but I'm trying!)
To Answer one of your questions sure I have done erotic RP before, not in COH but other platforms. Some times a story leads to that which is all RP really is two or more folks creating text to form a story. Sure my boyfriend knows about it. Like i said it's just a story It's not something either of us get off on.

Aside from that.. I agree 100% with Liz, personal RP should be taken to tells in public places or taken to your base or to a myriad of other private places. Respect those around you might not want to hear dirty talk.

My SG often jokes the best way to navigate the D is to take a pair of rubber boots and a mop. 
But you can have decent RP in there as well (most folk do in the blueside bar, the redside one's a little small) and the Ski Chalet in winter is just a lot of fun to hang out and eat smores in.
And that's not a euphemism.
It's like anywhere else on Virtue, Ultimus. A lot of us are playing characters in what we choose to make as an evolving, dynamic world that we inhabit, and some....well....don't.
But by and large Virtueites are players first, characters second and don't take themselves too seriously. But they do also do things like the Unofficial Handbook to the Virtueverse, which is a fun site ala the Marvel Handbook.
Say hi to your fellow heroes (and villains, and vigilantes, and...nevermind) and enjoy the ride. You'll like it there.

Pocket D is the brunt of Jokes, and depending where in the D you are, and what time of day it is, the ERP crowd will be lurking around.
That being said, over the 6+ years of being a DJ for The Cape, I've spent a ton of time in the D, checked out different areas of the D etc... and there is plenty of non ERP going on there. Unfortunately the smaller ammount of ERP gets all the attention.

I just hate seeing threads like this. Every time one pops up, all the newer player pervs from all the other servers descend on Virtue and think it's okay to proposition female toons in Atlas.
I've been on Virtue exclusively for 6 years, and all I ever catch in RP conversation in the D are people in /em poses with thought bubbles telling me what I think about their characters, chit-chatting about the most boring drivel imaginable.
This isn't about RPers, it's about ERPers, who otherwise don't have anything to do with RP. It's also not about Virtue, they lurk on your servers, too! Please keep them there?
We already have catgirls, we don't need more trouble.

The teacher is telling the student if you get an A you get a special reward nudge nudge. Then they start talking about being in a relationship and asking to be the other's girlfriend. So mind you we have two people roleplaying here two female characters making out, that are teacher and student, getting a bit graphic, and then being in a relationship. From an outside perspective, this seems bizarre to me. |

Pocket D Survivor: Many people, of a particular mindset, find they cannot tolerate the ERP of Pocket D. It takes someone of singular courage (or Deviance) to see the club as the place they would like to ERP in. But here, in the cool confines of the arena, away from the noise of the club, a kind of perversion can be achieved.

I wish they would bring back the original Paragon Dance Party and have that as the gathering spot to be used as the den of iniquity. But then Pocket D would be completely dead, wouldn't it?
