Whoa!!! (Is This The Ultimate Exploit?)
Its not an exploit its called multi-boxing. People do it in WOW too.
Essentially the person needs several cpu's, monitors, etc. its costly but some people enjoy doing it. The only real advantage would be PVP (thats why they do it in WOW). Basically you can one shot people that way.
Try running 36 characters at once.

I once saw someone do something similar except with a trio of master minds. Might have been a quartet, but I think they were all robotics/FF, and their costume themes were all robots. So you had a total of about 21 to 28 robots running around, stacking forcefields and firing their lasers.
That's certainly one way to have a robot army.

Back when I played Dark Age of Camelot, we had Team Wizzy, which was really just 1 guy who ran 7 Wizards (Ranged DPS) and 1 Minstrel (Crowd Control/utility).
He'd set up inside a keep* (usually around a blind corner) and absolutely slaughter any attackers. Caught within PBAoE range of 7 spellcasters, nothing (player-wise) survived more than 2 seconds.
*Being a fantasy MMO, Keeps were one of the main focuses of PvP. The ultimate goal was to kill the keep's Lord and capture it for your realm (faction). Each realm had 6 keeps, IIRC. Sometimes you'd have several hour long sieges involving hundreds of people.
Ok, now this is an idea I need to try. 8 Brawling Humiliators multiboxed. 8 Fists. All hitting you in the face (or whatever's at shoulder-ish level to BH.) Nothing will survive the thousands of papercuts called Brawl.
Nothing.

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

Im thinking if Love Song want to pay like $1500 a year on CoX accounts, he may be the one getting exploited.
Like someone said though, I can think of more costly addictions

It'd be more impressive if he had the names looking the same without numbering them.
Smurphy did it with his nemesis clone project. 8 Thug/Storms...
Just one of those is something like 18 entities at once.
Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

The L/I naming trick and that phrase can get you 64 technically-unique names that all read exactly the same.
Plus they were all Illusion controllers purposely designed to look just like Phantom Army.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
I hated not being able to tell the L/l difference in the game, so I changed the font to Tahoma...much better for me!

After 8+ years of playing this game, just when I think I've seen everything...
It's definitely one person playing eight toons simultaneously. I watched them line up one by one until they were all put on auto-follow to the leader, and then off they ran, attacking NPCs in sync. I'm sure it was all done using free accounts but wow... Is it really that hard to find a team nowadays?! |
I don't really think its about the lack of teams, and more about being able to do it - challenge of a different kind.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
The catgirls, they be multiplying!
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

An explaination if you are interested......
I began playing COH in 2007 and found I could not stop playing. I am generally lurking up to 20hrs a day...because I can! Over time I have found, yes, it takes longer than I like to form a team. So I branched out to having 100+ 50's across all the servers - with the ability to hop anywhere and run anything I see forming on my extensive list of Global Chat channels. Feel free to say hi anytime (and maybe we can run an LRSF, STF (or whatever its called), Kahn, ITF, LG, Eden - all my favorite content).
More recently we were given the ability to have free accounts which is awesome! Its just like playing 5 years ago when I first started - no invention enhancements, no incarnates..... I like it! (and now have some 32 free accounts with even more 50's on top of my singular VIP)
So, right, during early hours of the morning when it takes longer to form a task force than to actually run it, I have started setting up my own teams. With 4 game instances on my desktop and another 4 on my laptop. So far there is team "Hate Driven" on Defiant blueside who are all rad defenders, and team "Love Song" on Victory redside - all fire/ice blasters. The next group I'm thinking spine/fire or spine/dark scrappers on an yet undetermined server. I know the names aren'ts so terribly original, but its much easier to keep track of them by numbering them.
I am having a lot of fun with them and just updated mids for i23 in time to rip out some cool SO builds (ell oh ell). The irony of all of this, is that setting them up and moving them mission to mission takes a HELL-OF-A-LOT more time than to form a task force!!!!

I think my favorite CoH multi-boxer would have to be Smurphy.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

"Multiple Man
Mu1tiple Man
Mu1tip1e Man
Multip1e Man"
Multipl3 Man
etc
I imagined some GM having fun renaming them:
Generic Hero
G3neric Hero
G3n3ric Hero
Gen3ric Hero
etc.
When the game went F2P, I was like ooo, I am gonna make 7 accounts with Masterminds! But they were smart and made you had to play 3 years or buy them =P
When someone multibox-solos a hamidon raid... THEN I'll be impressed.
Champion server used to have the Gambino Crime Family - 6kin/fire 1 ff/fire and fotm. Talk about a swarm.
