Seriously, go see this film as soon as you can, it's incredible!

I damn near applauded one scene in the movie
Pics or it didn't happen...

Note the irony of demanding pics of something you legally couldn't record in the first place.

For the first time ever, the benefits of living in the UK

It was released here today. Dunno why we got it before y'all in the US though!

So it isn't just "Tony Stark and his super friends"? I was a bit worried about that.

I have no doubt there will be detractors for this film, there always are, some justified, some not so much (check out the negative review from Amy Nicholson on Rotten Tomatoes, I'm not even sure she's actually seen the film!)

I loved the film, thought it was easily the best big box office actionfest comic book movie ever, tbh!

For me, there's very little wrong with it and, as expected from a Joss Whedon movie, all the characters get a fair shake at screen time, although the bigger name stars tend to get a little more, which I would expect.

Honestly, if you're even remotely a comic book fan, a superhero fan, a sci-fi fan, any of those......just go and see it

I look forward to this, but answer this for me: is there a moment in the movie where THOR gets separated from his hammer and can't summon it to him and Captain America shows that he can lift the hammer?

Steve Rogers is the one hero from Earth in the MU as confirmed as worthy of the hammer of THOR, I'm curious if that makes it into the movie.

ironically my biggest complaint about Buffy and why I stopped watching it in the second to last season was that he would not kill of Spike. Spike was terrible on the show (he was fun when he went to Angel later). But he was so popular they would not get rid of him.

the real problem with Whedon is that everything turns out to be about the teenage girl with amazing powers who is better than all of her allies put together.

I think for this movie it will be more about the man with "Breathtaking anger issues" as Stark put it, that out performs the other Avengers.

Then you probably don't want to know that Spike was originally supposed to be killed off after like only a few episodes.
He lasted for -many- seasons longer than he was initially supposed to.

In Buffy's case she was the only one with serious superpowers amongst the human characters on the show.
Kind of hard to not be better than the rest of them combined, at least for the fighting bits. *shrugs*

Thats just par the course, though. Hulk has always been the 'secret weapon' of sorts ((At least until later)). Its just that they had to try and balance his 'super weapon-ness' with his 'collateral damage-ness'.

Buffy was basically the only one with superhuman powers in the whole group and her purpose was to kill vamps and other monsters.

Her friends brought wisdom, knowledge, magic and the everyman to the group.

For Firefly/Serenity, River was a prodigy who could pick up on and learn anything and master it with ease. There was an episode where Simon scanned her brain to learn the full damage done and how they damaged her reality cortex or some such and thus knew how to treat her better with the proper drugs.

Serenity took it one step further and not only was her sense of reality skewed now, but also she is basically a telepath and what was done to her likely amped her ability as well as leaving it permanently switched ON, so she's picking up on all the mental chatter and can't always sort it hence her sometimes random babble with occasional moments of lucidity. Almost reminds me of Malkavian's from Vamp the Masquerade.

But everyone in FIrefly/Serenity brought something to the group:

1. Mal: the leader, world weary, darker version of Han Solo, has a moral code but is also a confused walking case of PTS at times.

2. Zoe: loyal soldier and second in command

3. Wash: the wisecracking ace pilot

4. Simon: the doctor and everyman

5. Jayne: the big tough guy that loves a fight, loves to get paid. Has some small sense of honor but if the money is right, look out because you may not be able to trust him

6. Kaylee: the genius engineer

7. Shepard Book: the man of mystery, full of tales and wisdom.

8. River: the prodigy character but hampered by serious issues. She didn't get to really shine except for one or two episodes and then really emerged in Serenity after she got to Planet Miranda, breathed in some of the atmosphere with the pax which may or may not have helped calm her mind, plus all the silence on the planet since the population was dead, and then facing the origin of the Reavers helped jolt her mind back to relative working order. When the Reavers attacked she had telepathic overload until Simon getting hurt snapped her out of it and then she just cut loose.

Id say that has a lot to say about the actor's charm with the roll.

Up until the movie, by the end of which River can do everything better than the rest of the cast put together...

I really should do something about this signature.

Now this makes his motivation much less interesting than Darkseid in my opinion.

The only character I think gets away with this is the Joker, and that's pretty much because he has no superpowers.

I prefer villains who are smart, not godly powerful.

I have no powers but I'm smart enough to work out how to take down each of the Avengers would be a good plot IMO.

Just got back from seeing it and.... OMG, its utterly fantastic! It is The Avengers. Like... better than I ever imagined. Its got all this stuff going on, amazing action set pieces, crowning moments of awesome for all the characters but it also tells a story that makes sense (in terms of itself and what happens in the other films), has time for some excellent character moments and interplay between the characters. And it is also utterly (intentionally) hilarious, there were a few lines I missed because I couldn't hear them over the laughter.

This is my favourite portrayal of the Hulk, ever. They build him up with such respect and when he finally shows up, its fantastic. He also gets some of the funniest moments in the film.

Loki is a lot of fun as the badguy too.

Basically, if you like superheroes or movies or movies about superheroes.... Go See It.

Always remember, we were Heroes.

Glad this movie is doing well . Hate waiting here in the US to see it but dems the brakes . Also DKR and ASM trailers makes this an automatic IMAX , midnight show view fo sho .

Saw the movie earlier. Don't really have much else to add that hasn't been said. Don't let your anti Joss Whedon feelings stop you from seeing this movie. It is awesomeness incarnate.

River was also trained to be a highly effective and lethal assassin, possibly similar to the Black Widow. Now add in her telepathy always being on and she can absorb and assimilate the skills of the rest of the crew and add them to her own and yeah she can do pretty mch anything as good or as better.

Well, I got the real life version of a purple drop today and was given a ticket to a special screening.

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed that they didn't have any previews before the movie AH WHO AM I KIDDING IT WAS AWESOME!

Very well done! Some time was taken to tell a good coherent story, and it shows. I'm pretty sure I'll be seeing it a couple more times when it's released.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

This is great news for a lot of reasons. Maybe this will finally motivate the Warner Brothers/DC folks to awake up and realize that a good Justice League movie might actually be possible if they put some effort into it.

Effort being the keyword. The Avengers movie is going to rake in a good amount of dollars and of course WB will take notice. However I can't shake this horrible feeling that WB will just create a high budget version of this Justice League movie

DC are in a little bit of an awkward position now, really.

Despite the fact that they pretty much created the superhero genre and the concept of a superteam, with the likes of the JSA/JLA etc, if they now go and do something similar to Marvel in the movies, with several solo hero films, leading into a Justice League movie eventually, even if it's the greatest movie ever made, they'll just be percieved by the general public as copying what Marvel have done!

Saying that, if they make the money off it they want, I don't think they'll care

DC's movie franchise consortium is in far worse shape then you even give them credit for.
The Nolan Bat-chise is the best in the genre period, but take it away and Detective Comics has almost nothing [save the Watchmen] to compare to marvels successful comic book adaptations, and that's even without adding the X-Men & Spiderman trilogies.

It actually elicits wincing when the two brands' movie outings are compared, shall we.. =]

Yeah, I was considering that in that she can do Jayne's job better than he can, given that his job seems to be to kill stuff.
