Do not be too proud of this fantastic movie that Whedon has spawned. The ability to produce/write/direct awesome TV shows and movies is insignificant next to the power of FOX stupidity.

Don't try to frighten us with your sorcerous ways, FOX Stupidity. Your sad devotion to the ancient Nielson ratings has not helped you conjure up the trust of your dissatisfied viewers, or given you enough clairvoyance to figure out exactly what kinds of shows your audience actually wants to watch...

Also enjoyed the scene as Cap gives everyone their orders for the big fight. Hulk was the last one to receive orders and it was simply this:

Cap turns to HULK and says "And HULK.......!" Hulk looks at Cap for his orders and Cap just says, "........SMASH!" Hulk just grins, leaps into the air and proceeded to carry out the only order he needs. SMASH!

Also, be thoroughly prepared to roll in the aisles with laughter at how Loki is defeated. Not his grand scheme mind you, I mean Loki himself. You'll know it when you see it

Loki's defeat was HILARIOUS!!! I wouldn't have been surprised if we'd seen little birdies circling his head.

Oh and my next favorite Hulk scene was when he sucker punched Thor. You KNOW which scene I'm talking about.

Loki's defeat had just about everyone in the theater I was at rolling in the aisles with laughter.

Makes you want to laugh at any negative reviews, doesn't it?

Yeah laughing at the negative reviews is probably appropriate for this film. But I often find it fascinating to read the "minority report" reviews whenever a movie is either strongly positive or negative. Sometimes their points of view on why they disagree with everyone else is surreal.

One of the classic ones I remember was this reviewer who absolutely hated the first Matrix movie because they didn't like the "imaginary" parts when Neo was on the ship as a normal human but loved the "real" parts when Neo was in the city flying around and dodging bullets while fighting the agents. Somehow this reviewer had completely reversed which parts of the movie were supposed to be in the "real world" versus which parts were in the Matrix. And somehow that person had a "job" as a movie reviewer.

That Matrix reviewer needs to be fired.

I stopped listening to movie critics back when The Empire Strikes Back was released and I watched one idiot complain that the movie was bad because it raised more questions than it answered. He must have been the only person on the planet that didn't already know there was going to be a third movie.

I wonder if this will have a positive effect for future Captain America and Thor movies.

Remember the geniuses who thought Disney paid too much for Marvel?.... Yeah.

Here's a random question - has the success of the Marvel movies done anything for their comic sales? I don't really follow comics much anymore.

One would assume it has to some degree. On the other hand Marvel may look at it as an evolution in their business model towards being more "electronic/movie" based than "comic" based in the coming future. Same thing happened when telegraphs used to be the primary form of long distance communication and eventually things like telephones took over. Once everyone accepted telephones the telegraph was eventually phased out.

I'm not saying that folks like Marvel are going to instantly stop making comic books tomorrow. I'm just saying that they'll probably be making their primary money from movies (and by extension electronic forms of media) instead of paper-based comic books in the years ahead.

I couldn't help but tease people in the main General Discussion forums about having zone events like the big climax of the film in New York city....I mean, wouldn't we all want something like that where pretty much every character gets to shine in a specific way?

I've switch to e-books/comics instead of paper books/comics these days myself. Less space.

Well, people do seem to prefere to watch a movie instead of read a book.

This is true. Instead of reading this entire thread I will wait for the movie.

Hopefully, they can get Ernie Reyes to play me.

Who's doing a Marvel movie marathon tommorow? I and my friends are, seems like others are as well. I needed to buy a new Blu-ray of Ironman 2 since mine went missing, couldn't find Blu-rays of Ironman, Ironman 2, and Incredible Hulk anywhere in my town. Best Buy even had a display with all the Marvel Movies (to capitalize on The Avengers premiere) and those Blu-rays were sold out. I managed to get a used Blu-Ray of Ironman 2 at Rasputin, it was the last one they had.

This reminds me of a thought that's been dancing around the back of my mind. Now I'm not trying to take away any of the focus or awesome away from the Avengers, but when we see something huge like this invasion take place in a Marvelverse city known to be home to several popular Super Heroes, I can't help but think it could have been cool to see them make a few cameo appearances helping out on the sidelines.
