[SPOILERS] Issue 23-New iTrial!
They just removed an entire RP concept from the players, want to RP as a Preatorian post I23? Too bad everyone's dead.

"Play and you may lose. Rage and you will win - at least a while. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as angry players and tell our devs that they may take our RP, but they will never take our DRAMA!"

The Tyrant Trial is very symbolic - his rise to power and the aggression of the Hamidon were both fueld by nuclear conflict, and now this whole terrible chapter in the history of Praetorian Earth closes by coming full circle, and perfectly reveals Tyrant's mindset - he's always in the right, and if he has to kill or harm people, it's always because they brought it on themselves by opposing him - if he can't control, then he destroys - it's as simple as that with him.

And insulting a large portion of the players in the process makes your point so well?

What happens to the world is out of our control. We can only make a difference in small doses. We knew the spit was going to hit the fan and the Developers were never going to destroy Primal Earth since it's the basis for the game.
Praetoria is an alternate starting point. We never actually meet Cole there anyway, we just get to learn about the place and there were so many different forces pulling to and fro that it was inevitable something would break. Dictatorships can only last so long before pushback occurs.
Mechanics question:
What level is Cole and what level are the mobs?

I hear rumour that completion of the trial leads to your character being unable to enter the actual zone after, is this true? If so, then completely no reason for a roleplayer to do the trial for character advancement so as to not neuter the character's potential roleplay or exemplaring for Praetorian content.
Sure, I may be overreacting, but I believe this extreme of story progression forced upon characters is not needed. If an ending for Praetoria's destruction was needed, they could have continued with solo-story missions for your character's own story (much like the last choice in the DA arcs), meanwhile have the final trial fight end on a more neutral note than SO YEAH THIS ALL EXPLODED, OOH LOOK SHINY MAP, THAT WAS COOL WASN'T IT MICHAEL BAY?
I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender

So it's that binary to you?
Why can't your toon be a Praetorian that escaped before he nuked Nova Praetoria?
Or how do you (we) know that people in Neutropolis or Imperial City aren't still alive and are able to escape?
Sheesh; I don't usually care about story but bam, made two ways for you to RP still
Edit:
The only way the devs can stop people from RP'ing a toon that just came from Praetoria post i23 is to disable Praetorian toons all together; which I'm guessing isn't going to happen.

It's the climax to the Praetorian War, not the Ending to the Praetorian Storyline. We don't know the aftermath of the trial, there may yet be survivors, we know First Ward at least should still be 'active' with the remnants of the Resistance, the Loyalists and all the other ragtag outcasts. And the Praetorian Hamidon is still lurking out there somewhere and he's a smidge more dangerous than our Hamidon.
Which stops the entirety of Praetoria being useable as a background for a character after the release of the trial, also insta-death of anyone who was in Praetoria. Unless it's not accepted IC, under which case, that is a piece of official ingame canon -which is useless-.

Please wait until they tell us or its released to figure out if it was Nova or more then Nova Praetoria.
Yeah, completely unfounded supposition - which is all ANY of us have - serves zero purpose. Well, unless you get off on rage or making a very poor case for roleplayers.
You want to know the secret of the world? It's this: Save it, and it'll repay you, every second of every day.

What I have REALLY learned today. Letting the press play before the players is not a good idea after all.

Following the story, if we understand it right, Cole destroyed the entirety of the Praetoria as a planet, killed every single living being in it in order to gain its power and become a well unto himself. There is nothing else left, no survivors, no continuation. Everyone's dead, Dave. And then he dies, Praetoria becomes a dead world full of ruins to perhaps only salvage from, nothing more.

So that 1 nuke killed the Praet. Hamidon? If so, why didn't he do that before (after the fences were up)?
Why can't you RP that your toon was in the bubble that Dominatrix/AB put up before the nuke?
If all else fails, "it's magic that I survived!" ta-da!
