Okay so I just re-watched parts of the mmorpg video.

Black Swan's battle:

Started: ~29:36
Ended: ~34:47
Total time: ~5 mins+

Tyrant's Battle:

Started: ~36:00
Ended: ~40:17
Total time: ~4 mins.

So...Black Swan is better/more powerful than Tyrant

Apparently there is some City-verse version of Damage Control, Inc. I wish they would make damage like that semi-permanent, incorporate it into the exterior maps at the end of each issue and only slowly rebuild the stuff, it would make what we do feel more meaningful and the world more real. But I gather that their art budget doesn't stretch that far.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of that got incorporated in future revamps, but yeah, for the most part things stay pretty static. And we know that there are other zones they're looking at revamping first

It just annoys me immensely when people get a sniff of this notion and think it's some abhorrent concept that must be altered and changed because hell knows what reason cited, as if a rich shared history set to a consistent timeline is a terrible thing. My brain just can't try and make things clearer though, so sorry about that.
I'm not saying it needs to be changed, and I apologize if it came across that way. I know that the Union folks have a large collective of shared, server-wide history (I've read what I could on the Roleplaying forums) and I respect that.

What I was commenting on (or rather, meant to be commenting on, as looking back on that I probably could have phrased my post better <.<; ) was the fact that Night_Watcher's comment was saying that's how it should be, period, end-of-discussion, for all players. It isn't the method of Roleplaying that I have an issue with, but more the application of telling others (players and the Red Names) that they should run their game that way, when they've already said and established in-game that that isn't how they're managing the timeline. If that is how you've decided to Roleplay the game, more power to you! However, don't say that's the only way to Roleplay the game.

Again, sorry for the miscommunication on my end. ^_^;

Huh. Are they gonna make the zones echoes, maybe? Or do you suppose we're just going via levels=time and they'll be fine for lowbies who wanna start in Praetoria.

EDIT: oh my god, I had this in my tab longer than I thought. When I hit reply, it was just on page two.

The latter.

I may have misrepresented the amount of damage in my post. But my overall message wasn't the amount of damage, it was the type of damage--specifically that the damage was NOT nuclear in nature, and the person whose post I was referencing shouldn't need to worry about RPing a nuclear fallout survivor.

No joke. They must have used dev cheats at the end... you dont take down a 54+5 AV that fast.

Or maybe you do. Not like you get a real good view of anything from a noob meleer's perspective.

The answer is clothing - Tyrant was wearing too much if it, making him eaiser to defeat.

There was a power icon in our brave host's powertray that I can't identify. It's the purple one in the lower right corner. Does anyone know what power it is?

Looked like Elude to me.

Wait a minute... What? Why not simply use the new phasing? I really hope they aren't getting rid of more content, especially newer good content.

Friends don't let friends buy an ncsoft controlled project.

I would strongly recommend that you not put a lot of stock in rumors. Wait for official confirmation from a Red Name or for an official article, such as an Issue overview or an Intrepid Informer article. I promise, there is much more information to come.
They're not getting rid of Nova Praetoria.

So if Tyrant were a Chippendale's dancer, he'd be unstoppable?

I think that one is known internally as:

Kill 'em all, let [DEITY] sort 'em out.

That would explain why the fight with Cole is shorter.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

RP-wise, doesn't anyone remember that Neutron Bomb at the conclusion of a certain arc? Well as far as one of my more sinister villains is concerned, that bomb made it close enough to the surface that it killed oodles in her name.

I like my RP. A lot. And I like knowing my characters through different lenses. But at the end of the day, dang, it's mostly "pretendy funtime improv theatre." An empty stage can be a wasteland can be a palace can be a county fair. Ignore what canon you need to amongst your various circles or teams. Adjust it on a per character basis. Just enjoy yourself. Enjoy the stories you participate in, whether you take them fully from what the devs offer or actively write and edit the material to suit you.

But at the end of the day, not all players want to take such an active role writing their own story. So the devs need to give us SOMETHING for people to run through. If you're not one of these people, consider it at best then an early draft. A skeleton if you will, to first be rearranged and then to graft your own ideas onto. Nobody is going to penalize you for shifting the story so much in your own head or amongst a tight group of likeminded players.

Night_Watcher spoke hastily and ignorantly. The 1-20 Praetoria content isn't going anywhere, per Zwillinger earlier in the thread.

Correct. That's the first real incursion of the Praetorians, taking place before the 40-50 arcs from Maria Jenkins and crew. Then, at 50, the main invasion begins with the Apex TF and is halted in the Tin Mage TF. The story then carries over to our counterstrike in the Incarnate Trials.
