Next new zone sunny please?
Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt
Well, we did just get First Ward, which is a very jungle/swamp/natural type zone with plenty of daylight, and a fresh new Atlas Park, which is a very pristine, heroic, and inspiring zone. Before that, we got the three cities of Praetoria, which are highly advanced and often-times beautifully structured. So I guess this moody, dark, foreboding, forever night time revamp of Dark Astoria could be considered a Combo Breaker.
It was suggested in another thread, that a Dinosaur/jungle area might be coming down the line. A player speculated this based on remembering a dev quote about needing four legged rigs for dinosaurs, and such a zone is a very common comic book standard which CoH/V is missing.
My own avatar is from art of when Wolverine went back in time... the blood on the claw is from a T-Rex.
Which is dead, and he is sitting on it. :P

I would love to see them begin the rebuilding process on Boomtown and complete it in Faultline. Enough time has passed that these should be the case. Boomtown's potential is great and there is all kind of possibilities for new storyline mission arcs there. That is what I hope to see in the next few years.
Current active characters: Dragon Maiden (50+3 Brute SS/WP/PM), Black Widow Maiden (50+1 Night Widow), Catayclasmic Ariel (50 lvl Defender - Kin/DP), Quantumshock (50 lvl Elect/Energy/Energy), American's Defender (38 lvl Tanker - SD/Mace), Spider-Maiden (15 lvl Corruptor - RB/PD) & Siren Shrike (15 lvl Defender - Sonic/Sonic). My entire stable.
Well, I believe the best zone for the dinosaurs to appear in is Eden. That place is perfect. Then Devouring Earth can battle for supremacy with the Dinos for control.

FW is, overall, overcast.
The new DA is constantly stuck at night. I'd love a sunny, tropical even, zone that doesn't depress me just flying around it. Eco |
And so is DA. Its meant to be scary. I like it. And as others have mentioned, if you want daylight all the time we have a zone for that right now: Cimerora.

You realize that Paragon is in Rhode Island, right? The east coast can get rather...cloudy.

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.
While i like the dark. I am NOT saying no to a somewhat sunny zone. Can't have the dark without the light.
Going to miss the fun and nice people here at CoH. Feel free to add me on PS3/XBox360

How about Striga. That is a bright zone. Most of Paragon is sunny. I think DA dark is the exception not the rule. Reading here makes it sound like the entire game is dark and gloomy. I don't find it so.
Blue side that is. Red side is fairly dark and gloomy.

Ever wonder what the Praetorian Hamidon is restoring earth TO beyond those sonic barriers? The entire planet could be a massive "Lost World" now, if the devs had the resources.
Personally, I want the new zone to be sunny, bright, and cheerful with rainbows and ponies...
... and then I want it to put a villain storyline in it that makes use of the game's phasing technology to turn it into a desolate wasteland.
You want to know the secret of the world? It's this: Save it, and it'll repay you, every second of every day.

Really? How do we account for big walking crystals, rocks, and crab grass in Eden and elsewhere in the city? On the other hand, giant monsters of many types, including a massive octopus, a big green walking blob, a true giant (Jack of Irons), a monstrous walking Pumpkin, or massive granite or crystal creatures in the Hive or Peregrine Island, plague the city. Having a T-Rex, stegosaurus, or Brontosaurus is not beyond the game's reality.

Eden was a normal part of the city until the first Rikti invasion 10 years ago - so there'd need to be a plausible reason as to how a breeding population of dinosaurs had ended up there - and when two different groups in the game already give players the chance to time travel, it seems kinda simpler to just make a prehistoric zone.

I've levelled one character in Praetoria, and I think it's very nice. A pitty that after level 20 you can't return any more, even though going to First Ward isn't a problem apparently.
I have one character that I did level in Atlas Park, and I find the light there almost too bright. It gives the impression of being in or close to the tropics.
It'd need a good explanation - so there'd need to be a plausible reason as to how a breeding population of dinosaurs had ended up there

Crey, it's their fault for the reemergency of the Dinosaurs.
Crey faces a growing menace as the Devouring Earth threatens their operations, including genetic experiments in their secret Eden facility.
In order to fight 'fight fire with fire,' Crey geneticists and scientist began a program to test the viability of growing dinosaur-sized creatures to use against the Devouring Earth. After a year of testing and growing of selected carnivore type creatures, Crey began to bring their new weapon online into full production.
However, unbeknown to Crey, Devouring Earth learned of Crey's plans through their own intelligence network. Consequently, they staged a raid against the hidden underground facility where they captured all the eggs and young creatures. Hamidon’s minions presented these newly acquired life forms to him and he promptly blessed them as Devouring Earth's new Primal Creatures. Devouring Earth introduced spoors into the creatures, much like those used on humans to effect change. Moreover, these were different in that they were for programming their brains making them equally intelligent to the other Devouring Earth members.
When the first creatures reached the maturity through an accelerated rate designed by Crey and modified by Hamidon, they were unleashed in Eden where they would thrive and wreak havoc on Crey and any other being no of the Devouring Earth. Thus, the dinosaurs owe their reemergence to Crey and the Devouring Earth and have set out to make Eden and the rest of the planet theirs as it was 65 million years ago.

No offense, but claiming DA is "depressing" is like saying, "Can we get this graveyard over here to be more cheery? I find it depressing." Well of course its gloomy and depressive, its a GRAVEYARD.
And so is DA. Its meant to be scary. I like it. And as others have mentioned, if you want daylight all the time we have a zone for that right now: Cimerora. |
