So I became a villain last night...

...apparently by confronting my future self who is a god, who came back into the past because they were evil but then became good again and wanted to prevent me from making the same mistake. Whatever that was.

And then I beat them up. Which, you know, sort of invalidates the whole "I'm not just a god, I'm the god" part.

But aside from me believing that the person I just beat up rather handily is my uber-powerful god-self from the future... I'm kind of unclear on how this earns me enough street cred in the Rogue Isles to immediately get assigned a patron.

I guess I just say, "Of course I'm evil! Didn't you hear? I beat up my evil god self from the future! Because, you know, they were good by then! See? And now I know I'm destined to one day become an all-powerful god who cannot be defeated... except by present-day me of course! Ha ha! Evil, see?"

I think they might just be humoring me. You know, say "Oh yes, you're obviously evil now," and mark me down as a harmless crazy and pass me on to the next person in line.

And when I did it, I said, "They're right. The writing in this mission is much worse than the work I put into twenty one missions leading up to it that I had to grind."

I maintained to go through the tip with a straight face. However, I had no other way to express myself with the situation.

What a weird morality mission. Screws with my head. I like it though. I don't really see how it's evil, but I like it. I mean do we really want FROSTFIRE to become God instead?

Maybe it's that you'd rather have ultimate power and live for so long everyone else ever is dead than die in peace surrounded by loved ones or something.

that mish is also quite buggy on higher difficulty settings still lol

on high spawn sizes the mish can sometimes just randomly complete itself, pretty sure i sent in half a dozen bug reports about it by now

Welcome to the dark side, Organica.

And yeah, I too find that arc mystifying and pretty silly. On the other hand, I am very fond of both the level 40-50 Rogue missions.

Yeah when I went Vigilante->Villain I kind of expected a more unique morality mission to cap off the murdertastic Vig->Vil tips. I'm a bit disappointed you just get the normal villain ones.

Also, Frostfire is going to create a paradise on Earth? Screw that hippie nonsense.

I quite like the mini stories from most of the tip missions in game, but the mission the OP is talking about never made any sense to me either.

that did not make you evil.

it was your final chance to decide not to become evil, and you opted for evil

none of the tip missions change your alignment, your decision is what changes it - they just provide a chance for you to make a decision

That was the first Villain Alignment mission. The one that came out before they had the idea for specific Tips that actually showed a fall to Villainy. It leads me to believe that that tip is not as much for the falling ones as much as those actually fallen. Now the other Villain mission...where Heroes are harassing you so you decide to blow up Croatoa, THAT is a great way to round out the fall to evil.

As for the arc itself, I had to run it a couple of times, but once I actually saw the whole story, it made a little more sense. Of course, there are still plot holes the size of Jupiter, but it's a bit more workable.

The first Double is brought from the moment in which they are supposed to become a god. It pulls both you and the now Fully Heroic Frost Fire to the present, where everyone fights and then both future beings are sent back.

The second Double that's brought back has been a deity for some time now, but never achieved the full power, because half of it went to Frost Fire. Not sure how he got back up to interfere with the ritual or whatever, but you and your god-self actually strike him down this time, using some element or other that happens to be the kryptonite for the both of you. This time the system doesn't seen everyone back, instead your double goes back to "reshape the world" under his own power.

The final Double I'm pretty sure is brought back from a million years or so in the future, where he's gotten all sad that he's the only sentient being in the universe. This is the being that contacted you in the first place, the problem with the plan in his mind is that you became a god and wiped out humanity. Unfortunately your character's future self is apparently a bad speaker, because by the time they're done your character has become convinced that the flaw wasn't in going through with the plan, it was allowing Frost Fire to muck it up. Future you realizes what's going on, and tries to stop you himself, but because of the elemental kryptonite stuff that's been left behind on God-Fire's corpse, your character is able to defeat the other half of the coin, and presumably goes on to figure out how to start the ritual.

Of course, NONE of this has anything to do with how our characters actually Incarnate so...yeah.

unless the Well of Furies is a ruse created by your future self to allow you the god powers but gradually and under the pretense of some well so you won't know its your future self mucking with you

Pancakes!

You beat me to it.

Mish is a Nemesis plot to get you to defeat your future self. Boom, Evil.

Oh, and x2 on the Croata assult mission. Villainous fun. I always dismiss the future-selves one.

Hell no. And now, thanks to the briefing from the future, I know exactly when and how to nail him. Now we play the waiting game......

I like to imagine that Arachnos noticed and tried to recruit me earlier, like when I hunted down and killed a hero for making a stupid blog post. However, it isn't until the morality mission that I abandon all pretense of wanting what's "right" and am willing to accept their offer.

Technically you don't kill him for the blog post... you kill him because he's too stupid to see how you've helped him. By, you know, kidnapping his relatives and stuff, just to show what could happen if he doesn't learn to be smart. And he doesn't learn.

Which is the fatal flaw with heroes... they don't weed out the stupid ones. Here you've raised the average IQ of heroes as a whole, and they want to arrest you for it! Stupid heroes!

There are times I think they got the evil and good morality missions screwed up.

I become a hero by letting an assasin kill my alternate self...

I become a villain by defeating my future world conquering self...

Yeah...I find that one to be wholly dissatisfying in a completely different way. At least the villain mission I can just write off as nonsensical (Hey, maybe I got gassed by Arachnos and I'm having this craaaazy dream while I'm really in a holding cell! Could happen!). But in the hero one I'm expected to believe that Silent Blade suddenly has a moment of competence so stunningly unexpected that I am rendered powerless to prevent her from killing somebody right in front of me and then walking away.

The other one I have a bit of trouble with is the jailbreak one for Vigilantes. That seems like a bridge too far for me, even for my vigs. But then, there could be other players who love these missions, and more power too them. Just my personal preferences. And I do actually quite enjoy the majority of the tip missions.

Yeah, I run that one a lot because it's fast... they even put the encounter at the beginning as if they're admitting it's only there to run fast, because the story makes no sense. I let an assassin kill a criminal in front of me, and let the murderer escape, and I'm a hero for doing that? Why am I not hauling BOTH of them off to jail?

The One Good Spider, on the other hand, is about as epically heroic as blowing up Croatoa is epically evil. But I don't run that one very often because I'm in a hurry. Kill my double already! I'll look the other way! Gimme my merit!

Yes, this is probably the stupidest tip mission ever, and is in the running for stupidest mission in the entire game. And on top of that, it's buggy as hell. I can only assume they were having the Paragon offices repainted that day, and the fumes were really getting to whoever wrote this thing.

The mission makes no sense. Although I applaud the Devs for hiring people who are crazy to write their content. The reality challenged peeps need work too.

However, this mission gives many great opportunities to get screen capture action shots of your own character at work that is available almost no place else in the game. I take that for the win.
