Though I, too, will miss the event, the story is great so far. Wonderful job, Arcanaville.

Quote:Yup, I was on that league. Good times.I was in Shark a few minutes ago. They had a new wave and there were plenty of Corlax. Over all I had a lot of fun. We had a full league, the Devs called me out and our league gathered up for a group photo. Plus we had the Supernatural event happen minutes before Mako was to come, so with us all there, we hit those too. Walked away tonight with 25 Incarnate threads, 70 new Reward Merits, 5 badges, new friends, and overall a happy attitude. Thanks Devs for a fun night. I'll get you next time Blackie!
-Pure Inferno
We did have some downtime between waves, but the logistics of trying to run something like that manually must be tricky, to say the least. I thought the community team did a good job over all and appreciate the effort; I had fun. -
I've spent less overall since Freedom's release. I continue to subscribe six months at a time, so get a bit of a discount off the monthly charge; I spent $15 one month for some more points. Prior to Freedom, I had bought almost all the costume packs and had occasionally bought things like respecs and ... something else that I can't now recall. I'm very, very glad there are people spending more than that though as I think the new content has been fantastic. So, please, go forth, my fellow gamers and spend!
-
Best of luck, Ryu. Hope things work out and you're back in game, and on the forums, soon.
-
Servers are down, Ashe. Not sure when they are estimated to be back.
-
I find my Ill/Storm gets plenty of drops just running him through missions on 0x8. It might be more efficient to knock that down a little so I can go faster, but I find the big mobs more fun. And as Local_Man said the SSAs give great rewards.
If I may go off on a tangent here, Local_Man, I always find your posts to be a treasure trove of useful information, so I'll add my thanks to Starget's.
Anyway, welcome back, Starget, and I hope you enjoy your Illusion/Storm as much as I do mine. :-) -
Very excited about all the new content coming out. Seems like this will be the perfect time to start appeasing my lower level characters, who are all pretty miffed about my 50s getting all the love lately (although I'll for sure be checking out the new Incarnate arc).
I'm also very intrigued by the Enhancement changes and new sets, as this is the first I'd heard of that. Between that and the pool changes, there could be some quality time spent with Mids on the horizon. -
Quote:They're both PBAoE, so how much use you get out of them can depend on how aggressively you play. I actually play fairly aggressively when solo, but even when I'm in the middle of the mob, I'll often use Lightning Storm, or sometimes Hurricane, to keep them off me. So I found I wasn't actually using the powers optimally. From your description though, it sounds like you were much more effective with them. And they do take some nice sets.I have a 48 Illusion/Storm and I was wondering why skip Flash? I just started after taking a very long time off, but I thought flash was a very strong power to take. Again it has been a long time since I've played and he has a lot of dust on him. I would use flash one group and then thunderclap the next. This was before IO's were around though.
-
I went Agility Core Paragon. Are you sure you're not thinking of a different tree though, when you mention accuracy?
-
Local_Man's really the expert and his build is no doubt superior to mine, but I'll toss out an alternative for you anyway that gives you the Flight you want. This character had some story/concept requirements that I wouldn't compromise, and flight was one of them. It's also quite an expensive build. My character still has a couple of the purple sets to finish before he's complete (this is the plan for him) but he is an absolute blast to play at pretty much any level.
Regarding pools, I have to agree with Local_Man that the Ice Pool is fantastic. In fact, pretty sure filling out my attack chain with an APP blast is something I picked up from his guide. I make a lot of use of Hibernate, not just as an "oh no!" power but sometimes just to let me regenerate endurance (I often run with SS on all the time). Of course, it helps that it works for my character conceptually; if Mu works better for you, go for it.
Also, I've had both Flash and Thunder Clap in the past and don't miss them. However, I could see somebody preferring one of them over Snow Storm, which I go back and forth on; I do use it in long fights, but it's probably ultimately skippable.

I see the same thing Kosh_Naranek does, in that it gets progressively worse as the fight goes on. I am fortunate that my connection and computer are fast enough that I don't actually get disconnected and am able to finish the mission, but I was very surprised to find that the issue had not been resolved yet.
-
Couldn't agree more. I'm very much looking forward to more Incarnate story arcs, or ideally, another zone. The powers are fun to have, and I don't mind doing a few trials to get them, but Dark Astoria is what kept me subscribed when I was thinking about going premium.
-
Congratulations on 50! This thread has been informative and entertaining, just like your last project. But when do you sleep!?

My first thought was "how would they exemp" since I'm one of those who uses mid-level IOs. So I looked it up and, assuming the wiki is correct, it appears that Attuned IOs can be better for exemping than regular IOs:
Quote:If I read that right, a set with a range from 25 to 50 would retain the set bonuses down to level 22 even if your IOs are "level 50" because your character is level 50. So...yeah. I'd be cool with it. I don't really see it happening, to be honest, nor am I too sure how it would affect the AH, but at least on the surface, it seems like it could be a simpler system. I'd be pretty adamant about wanting them to still be craftable though; certainly wouldn't want to see IOs only be available through the Paragon Market (I know the OP never said anything about that. I'm just thinking that that's ultimately the source for all the Attuned IOs now, except Overwhelming Force. You can get them on the AH, but somebody initially had to get them from the Market).Attuned Enhancements change their level based on the character's current Combat Level so the set bonuses will only shut off if the character exemplars more than three levels below the minimum level allowed for the Enhancement. -
Quote:1. By your definition, none. By mine, four. I don't usually bother to pursue Tier 4's in anything past the Alpha slot, although I do sometimes build more than one tree up to Tier 3, particularly for Destiny. One of these 4 is now 'done' until more Incarnate content gets released ('done' in the sense of, 'I have no more reason to do DA or trials' with her; I'll certainly still be playing her). One would be done, except I've decided to change a couple of her powers for concept reasons. The other two just need Hybrid, unless I decide to tweak them too.
How many characters have you fully incarnated?
How many characters have you incarnated?
How many characters have you rolled with the intention of making them Full Incarnates?
Do you have any characters that you, for whatever reason, are not going to make Incarnates?
2. Four. Same ones as in question #1. I think I have a few others with their Alpha and maybe an Interface or Judgement slotted, but none at this time that I'll be taking any higher.
3. None.
4. Yes.
I think that question will probably become more relevant when we get anywhere even remotely near 'enough to make it a standalone game.' And personally, I think the same question could be asked about trials. Being as inclusive as possible seems like the smart way for the devs to go. Surely, they want those free players who enjoy soloing and playing on small teams to cough up that money for a subscription as much as they want to entice those who enjoy more large scale events? -
My first thought was that, conceptually, it would indeed make sense for Battalion to be of the levels the OP states; they have, after all, been built up as a devastating force. So I'd be fine with it, in this specific instance. In general, though, I think it would be a mistake for the devs to continue ramping up Incarnate content without broadening the base a bit and providing more entry-level options for new 50s. I love that they brought out a new incarnate arc last issue, but hope to see another incarnate zone some more BAF/Lambda level trials.
That was my first thought, but then I read this post from Captain Electric, and a few that followed it, and now I would really, really love to see it handled this way.
Quote:I don't know if it's possible to do, but it's definitely how I would like to see it handled, if it can be done. Incarnate Battalion content, but also lower level content, zone events, maybe some GMs; a variety of content that includes characters of all levels. From what we've seen of the Shivan threat, and certainly from what the Arcosians saw of it, I feel reasonably suspicious that the Battalion will target, well, everything. If that turns out to be the case, then I think it would be cool if there were a variety of enemies to fight, of a variety of difficulty levels. We don't know what to expect when an alien species invades, after all. Perhaps, like the Tyranids of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, there will be enemies that only Incarnates could hope to face, accompanied by countless waves upon waves of smaller enemies that would be just as capable on their own of overwhelming the world if it weren't for all the other heroes up and down the security level spectrum.
I guess what I'm talking about is the difference between a war between superior forces and an actual world wide war. The Praetorian war has mostly been an example of the former, although story arcs like Roy Cooling's and the revamped introductory Portal Corps arc illustrate how even in that case, the other heroes out there still come into play for important tasks. -
Yeah, I know. I'll have to check that option again, but back when they introduced the new interface, what they called 'classic' was not actually the old interface. It had been modified, and one of the modifications was that it had tiny numbers, just like the 'new' one.
-
Welcome, Panther and Enigma. Glad you've enjoyed yourselves so far. There are indeed a lot of RPers on Virtue, but it's certainly not required. Well, actually I suppose I can't speak for everyone; there may be some groups or teams that expect you to RP but I'm sure there will be plenty of others who do not. Although I don't PUG often, I've been doing a lot of Summer Event runs lately and I have to say, I have yet to have a bad experience with any of the other teammates the LFG queue has hooked me up with. I hope your experiences here will be as positive as mine have mostly been over the last three years.

Fun:
* Corruptors, Stalkers, my Illusion/Storm Controller (I really enjoy most of the ATs; these are just my favorites)
* The fact that most of the game can be played solo
* Teams and Trials, in moderation
* Being part of a regular duo
* The IO system and planning builds in Mids
* The auction house (with one caveat, below)
* Making AE stories for my friends
* Roleplay
Not fun:
* Mez! Loathe it, loathe it, loathe it. And yet I play primarily support characters. I guess I feel vindicated when I toss that mez right back at them.
* Blasters, Masterminds (personal preference; I'm in awe of those who enjoy them and play them well)
* The auction house (the interface)
* AE (the search interface)
* The change to the Team list that made the number next to each team member so tiny as to be unreadable on my display. -
Organica, your tip about buying and vending SOs made one of my lowbies his first million tonight. I had been doing unpopular rare recipes, but this was much faster and easier. I didn't even know people put SOs up on the auction house.
-
Great to have another project thread from Organica! I greatly enjoyed the last one and this one is looking every bit as interesting.
-
I also put it in Tornado and yeah...WOW. Between that and Freezing Rain the mobs just bounce up and down like they're being dribbled. My test run with it tonight was awesome fun.
-
Quote:<offtopic>It was nice having my support characters feel important - like they were "stars" too, not just the "supporting role to the Big Star." I didn't realize they were feeling a bit second-class in the lands of 8 bazillion scrappers (many of them mine, btw), but I guess they kinda were. Playing this, they were all, "yeah, but I make your scrapperlock WORK!" which was a pretty refreshing change, I have to say.
You really feel that way? If you asked me which of my characters brings the most overall value to any given team I'd pick one of my corruptors over any of my melee characters 10 times out of 10. Then again, I have the same bias towards my support characters that many of my friends have towards their brutes. :-)
