That's awesome! Except, it presents 2 sides of a coin. Having one of your characters inducted into the Freedom Phalanx would be considered a very high honor (at least by most players). In order to get inducted, the character obviously has to be well-thought out in all categories (costume, history/power origin, etc.). But in being inducted, you are now resigning all of that. That character will no longer be "yours." (Yes, I know technically none of our characters are "ours" but I'm talking in terms of playability, ability to affect the character's story, etc.)

I don't know if I could do that. Usually, by the time I've put that much thought and effort into designing a character, I want to keep him!

As cool as it was to have a fan-made character added to the Surviving Eight, for this situation I would prefer one of the following:

1) Back Alley Brawler is offered the position and accepts.

2) Your character is offered the position ("your" meaning everyone that runs the arc). You have the opportunity to decline if you want.

I'd immediately put Ascendant from Virtue up for it. If there's a single player I've ever heard of that has been here since the literal beginning, and is every single inch the archetypal 'Paragon City' superhero, it's him. Even the name fits, personally.

But I agree with Liquid; I would like in the story that same opportunity.

I think this is a great idea and a great honor. How fun! And the people that put a lot of time into their characters will have even more reason to look closely and submit. FUN.

For the uninformed (ME), who is Ascendent? Why do we want him?

Oh, thank god the title wasn't saying what I thought it was saying. "My character" could join the Freedom Phalanx, in that a character I enter into a contest could be chosen to be made canon, NOT every character I play joining the Phalanx through a mission. OK, that's a load off my mind.

So, a contest, eh? I'm game, provided I don't have to be a US resident. This should prove to be interesting practice for the creative muscles that have been atrophying for some time now, at least inside my own head. Best of luck to you folks out there.
