Your GoTo sets...
Super Reflexes. Its elegant design, its thematic coolness and its 1-small-inspiration-godmode keep me coming back for more alts.
Street Justice has proven so completely awesome on every level: sights, sounds and numbers. Best melee set in the game IMHO.
The best comics are still 10!

Super Reflexes: the Golden Fox of power sets!
WARNING: I bold names.
Mercenaries. No idea why. Probably just the whole bad@$$ normal thing.
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
My personal favorite is Mind Control. It was the first set I ever doubled up on.
(I try not to have the same set multiple times, with some exceptions made for character stories and opposites/villains/mirror universes...)
But man do I love Mind Control. It's got to be the most elegantly crafted of all the control sets. Whenever any new control set comes out I look at the Tier 9 power - if it's a pet, it's obvious to me that it will not live up to the "all control, all the time" ideal that Mind Control set for me.
(Electric Control, and now Dark Control, are both massive disappointments, in that their Tier 9s are both pets)
---
Beyond that, I adore Storm Summoning. I think it might be the powerset I have the absolute most of. (Mind Control was my first love, but Storm gets more characters, probably because more archetypes can do storm... and no, I've never done mind/storm...)
The game ends at 50. Smilegasm
Do not ever give Mind Control a pet. We need more control sets without pets.
My characters are not "toons". They are all project characters, though.
Global chat @Lxndr My servers: Defiant, Liberty, Pinnacle, Virtue
As far as melee sets go, Willpower tends to be a favorite of mine.
For support sets... I'm a big fan of Kinetics and Radiation.

4 Plant control
4 Stormies
4 TAs
just otomh
I just see a one powerset conceptually going with another in away I quite fancy or someone elses character and costume inspires me to make a toona bit like it on another server.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Storm summoning and dark armor.
Even if I haven't played one of my stormies in months, I'll still run into these perfect scenarios where I think, "what a great spot for hurricane!"
Illusion/, /Storm, /Traps; when a new powerset comes out one of the first things I do is pair it with one of those if possible.
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
Control Set... Gravity Control.
Buff/debuff set: FF, Kinetics.
Armor sets: Elec and Invuln
Melee: Anything.. no go to power in melee yet.
Ranged: Beam Rifle, Duel Pistols, and Energy
MM.. Robots.
Assault: Energy
Invulnerability and Martial Arts
Two Inv/ tanks at 50, two MA/ scrappers at 50, yet oddly no overlap between the two.
At one point, when we only had 12 slots per server, I had 7 Inv/SS tanks on Virtue. Inv is simple and elegant, and MA is a sexy pile of animations and ST face-kicking fun.
I can't pick just one.
A bazillion alts (and usually something different every night) are the reason I play this game.

When I roll something that could be traps, I have to force myself to make anything other than traps.
I rarely roll anything that I've already got something of. With so many combo's though, it really hasn't been an issue.
That said, a few specific sets have been deemed fun enough to replay for me;
Energy Blast and Manipulation for Blasters, gotta love ragdoll!
Fire Blast for Blasters for the AoE goodness.
Storm on anything. Storm just allows for such versatility in concepts that it isn't as limiting as some of the others.
Dark Miasma for Masterminds. It's far to potent to only use on one character. *cue evil laugh*
Maestro Mavius - Infinity
Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard
Keep Calm & Chive On!
Fire Blast, Fiery Aura, Dark Miasma, Super Strength.
The best defense is a good offense.
I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
Union EU player! Pip pip, tally ho, top hats and tea etc etc
Super Strength for me, way too often.
Also, Inv and WP.
As the manly man that I am, I always choose Empathy, because nothing is manlier than being a team player secure enough in his manliness to care for the well-being of others.

3 fire blast toons...3 em blasters, 3 em doms. Apart from that, I like to spread it around, trying not to repeat sets, and never combos of sets.
Totally agree with the Street Justice comment..just blows every other set away for looks and feel. And it kicks butt too.
Plant Control, I love it so much and whenever I try to play a controller or dominator with anything else I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing out, Plant Control is just so versatile and awesome.
I also have a soft spot for Kinetics, the most powerful support/buff set in my opinion.
Here's a surprise: Dark Armor.
It's actually the only set I use on multiple characters.
Where to now?

don'T attempt to read tHis mEssaGe, And believe Me, it is not a codE.
Dual Blades, Kinetic Melee, Super Strength, Invulnerability, Fire Blast, Fire Control. I wish the last four weren't on the list.
Dark Miasma. Is just too plain awesome. My first char, my first 50, was a Dark/Dark/Dark defender. Currently being rerrolled as a corruptor, I have had enough of the low damage
I tend to enjoy fiery Melee/fiery aura. A lot. Though I have only one toon with the combo together, I have many with one or the other.
I truly enjoy martial arts. It may not be the most effective set in the game, but the animations never get old.
For support, I love cold dom, kinetics, and time. Cold dom is something I haven't played much myself, but I love having one on staff. It is so effective. Kinetics makes everything more fun (and a lot faster while leveling). Time is a great personal buff set. I am enjoying the crap out of my grav/time currently. At one time, I even swore I would never make another troller after an ill/FF fiasco I had in my CoX infancy.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."
- Vitality
*/SR/Body never gets old to me, though I've tried SD. Also, Radiation.
There's already an interesting thread here talking about powersets people list as 'never again.' After reading through that I wondered about the other side.
What powersets, if any, are your "GoTo" sets. These are the ones you will usually go back to time and again when considering new characters.
For me, I have a soft spot for the 'love it or hate it' champion, Empathy.
Thats right, I keep coming back to the support set of all support sets. It just fits my playstyle. No matter what game system I'm in, tabletop or computer, I tend to gravitate to the buff/debuff kind of power selections.
How about you? Any personal favorites?
