If you friend uses the Starter Kit, they will probably have to wait through the VIP month, then an additional 90 days as a Premium account before the Refer-a-Friend code could be used.

If the Refer-a-Friend is used first, you won't get the free time, and they won't get the free points unless they pay for a month's subscription via game time card or recurring billing. Paying for the month will mean being unable to apply the starter kit code.

The Starter Kit cannot be used as a method of payment for the purposes of Refer-a-Friend.

As far as being prompted to enter a subscription plan, either game activation requires entering billing information. Under most circumstances, the billing plan can be cancelled once registration is complete without being charged, but I don't know whether Refer-a-Friend makes an immediate charge to get the free goodies.
    You are right

    Thanks all!

i have not messed around with it at all though just based on what i have read
Thanks but this is not what Im asking, I explained myself poorly

My friend wants to use both the starter kit and the referral code at the same time. Im not seeing a way to do it, since everytime she tries to apply the referral code, she gets promted to select a subscription plan, and no way to include the starter kit serial
  4. A friend of mine is going to buy the starter kit and try the game. Can I use a refeer a friend code with him, or does he need to subscribe in order to use it?

    Anyone tested this? Thanks

Given how much more time it takes to get from Tier 3 to Tier 4 (based on the components you need to have), I think I'm going to start collecting components for Interface: Reactive which is a bit over 60% unlocked atm.

Then I'll work Interface up to tier 3, then start on Destiny and get that up to tier 3 for the second level shift etc.

Eventually I'll go back and work on the Alpha slot again, and at that point I'll focus on getting a tier 4 Intuition as Muon suggested.
Long road, but looks like it will be fun.

For what may be worth, my Dark/Dark controller uses Musculature. I considered Intuition, but I think Musculature is more useful

    Intuition has:
    - 33% Hold. Useles. Your holds are slotted for mezz duration. A spawn can be controlled with a standard AoE hold for long enough untl FS/HoD is recharged for further control, if needed. If you need ST hold, the recharge is very low
    - 33% def debuff. Useless
    - 20% range. Semi useful. I dont think more range is needed. Some pets may not attack if you are standing at max range even without this. And you still need to go melee for HoD/SA if you want to use them
    - 33% damage: Great
    - 20% tohit debuff: Great.
    - 33% Slow. Almost useles. You use Tar Path for the -res, not for the slow, imo

So what you really get from here is damage and tohit debuff

    From Musculature:
33% damage. Great. Same as Intuition
33% immob. Useful. Your immobs are usually slotted for damage.
    33% def debuff. Useless
33% endmod. Useful. Improves Stamina and SA
33% run speed. Useful. More speed is always welcome, moving away from patches, or just going from spawn to spawn
20% tohit debuff. Great. Same as Intuition

So in short, Musculature gets you the same benefits as Intuition (damage, tohit debuff) and extra stuff (endmod, run speed, and inmmob) over hold/slow/range. YMMV, of course, but this was my reasoning

( and yes I do use boxing in my attack chains) second I would loose 1 slot in end to add to RttC to put in a Taunt IO to help with aggro control.
I wasnt thinking on using either Boxing or Kick :P

Regarding taunt IO in RttC, I was thinking on losing the kismet proc for this. I would say that I have enough accuracy set bonuses (plus Vigor) to avoid missing

Thanks for your explanations Mauk They will help. I will probably take your advice into account and lose Fire APP in exchange for IS and Energy APP.

Regarding Hasten, WP doesnt need any recharge, and I dont see Staff as very recharge hungry. I will need to cycle T1 attack, guarded spin and taunt in my attack chain so the heavy hitters dont need a ******** of recharge imo. I may put some purples after building this, but Im pretty broke now after expending billions in my dark/dark troller :P

So, I removed your epic pool attacks and replaced them with IS, possibly the finest attack in the set. I turned on your accolades and incarnate powers, and tinkered a few slots to get you over 3k hitpoints. I mean come on, a WP tanker without three thousand? Why bother?

Ok, to illustrate how this beast runs, I then set you to Form of Body and toggled Skysplitter with three levels of Form. Oh, there ya go, there's that 90 percent S/L resist you wanted.

Staff is a DEFENSIVE set. Set up right, this build has 51+ Melee defense, 90 percent S/L resist, and regens 100+ hitpoints a second at a minimum. You are going to be...durable.

You're not going to 'wow' anybody with your damage output, although it isn't terrible with reactive turned on.

    See what ya think:
Mmm I may have 9 attacks but not all of them are functional :P Some are mules. I just wanted flexibility in my attacks

How good is Innocuous Strikes? The damage seems ok, nothing outstanding, and its a cone, so I skipped it because I already have enough AoEs in the form of GS/Eye/Fireball

Isnt Energy APP a bit of overkill in a WP tank?

Anyway, I got some good ideas and advice from your post, thanks!

What do you think about this build? I want it for endgame group content (trials, TFs..)

    Pros:
    - 44.8% def S/L
    - 45.7% def E/N
    - Over 30% F/C/Psi def
    - Capped S/L resistance

    Things I didnt like:
    - Fire blast with no slots. Would be nice to have a second range attack
    - Using oblits for S/L def
    - RttC with no Taunt IO. Is a weak taunt aura

I havent checked other apps, but im open to anything.

    Any feedback? Thanks!!

P.D: Im guessing Vigor Core Alpha would be the best choice

  10. My Dark/Dark does a bit of everything: controls, tohit debuffs, fear, def/res debuff, team buffs... Is pretty well-rounded imo.

Out of those 2, I like Plant/Daff more

    Hi, new badger.

I'd do the TF/SF badges at this point, since it'll help you for the next category...

Then I'd work on defeats - going from lowest level to highest, just for speed's sakes. By now you should have a lot of grinding done for most of the badge defeats.

If you haven't gotten them by now at this point, I'd focus on accolades, just to get the free powers.

PVP is your next step. You can do them legit, or you can team with a buddy to grind 'em out. Gladiator grinding wraps into this too.

The next steps are up to you. Ouroboros difficulty grinding is irritating. So's the crafting (although it has direct in-game benefits) grinding. You might wanna just leave those on the side and "get them" naturally, or prioritize other singular badges to get over with (the various Master badges, for instance).

    GL, Hush.
Im badging with my Dark/Dark troller (my first badger) and this is more or less my route.
    - Exploration/Plaques (doing both at the same time)
    - Ouro missions
    - Defeats

I do badge runs for trials/TFs when I see them. I worked on the crafting badges while I was levelling. Now im working on the 2000 inventions by simply buying stacks of 10 of salvages for 1inf, crafting a level 50 IO (accu, damage, end, recharge, jump... lots of them work) and selling them for crafting cost+WW fee. Works for crafting+WW badge

Then repeat for Praet badges and Villain badges :P

And what do you do when a mob is resistant to confuse? ST hold a 8x spawn one by one? When a mob is resistant to fear (only comparing Seeds VS Fearsome) you still hit them with 15%+ tohit debuff that stacks with anything you do.

Im not saying that Plant is worse than Dark. But Dark is much better well rounded. Plant is a one trick pony

This is 110% wrong. For most of the game you just need Fearsome Stare + AoE immob
  15. One Acc/EndMod/Rech is good enough. Slot an additional Acc/Rech and get extra HP from bonus set (Efficacy Adaptor). The power is so great with just one-two slots.

Spoke like someone who hasnt played DAff.

My vote is controller. I have one at 50 and is a complete beast. And is not exactly laking damage
  17. Posting in the AT forums seems a VIP perk. I wouldnt start posting builds in Player Question, you may very well risk getting banned from the forums
  18. If you have end problems (even from time to time) is a great power to have. Remember that also buffs your team, so for me is almost in the same leage as heat loss

Forget about the regen. You have a healing power and fluffy

I am wondering if u have tried the pet build up proc? If so how effective is it?

    Cheers
No build up proc. I would have to lose some ranged def for it... I will think about it. It wont make a difference unless I manage to immob a GM, because all pets lose a lot of time chasing stuff

  21. If you are not looking for 6 piece bonus, roots is possibly the best place for the proc
  22. Bump! Still want one of this, level 52-53 Acc/Dam hami-o. Contact me if you have one to sell

Thanks! You asked before about Lore Pets. I´ll tell you how this went.

I aggroed him, casted my stuff, and summoned Lore pets (Rularuu Total Core - T3 Boss + LT). I downed him to about 50%. When Lore pets ran out, I kept chasing and fighting him down to about 20%, when I was able to summon my Rularuus again and finish him quickly.

So, its doable without Lore Pets, just slow.

    Im using:
    - Musculature T4 (+damage, +tohit debuff, +immob duration)
    - Reactive T4 (gonna change it for Degenerative. I read that with the fix to Degenerative, is better for GM soloing)
    - Ion T4 (not used so not relevant)
    - Rularuu T3 (need to improve it to T4)
    - Clarion T4 (not needed)

No insp or temps were used. I used Soul Absorption 3-4 times (damn electric end drains)
