I'm looking at the numerous bugs that go through on this patch:

  • The infantile KB
  • Mace Mastery mace still malfunctioning
  • UIs being reset
  • Bases going all "Skynet" on their owners
And I'm just picturing the Dev/Community team reading this thread. Then this happens.

For what it is worth, I am still excited about many of the changes, just wish so many bugs hadn't come with 'em :/

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

INSPIRATIONS:

Effect of Inspirations taken BEFORE entering an AE mission will be stripped off the character.

So, have a boss fight you're buffing up for and hoping to have other insps in the tray as you go on? Forget it.
That one is squarely aimed at farming maps. One of the things you do with those is run in at the damage cap on inspiration overload, and it helps propel you to max sustainable Fury on a Brute.

(Note I'm not defending anything. I'm only noting the near-certain origin of that change.)

For me this is about equivalent to having to recostume my character every time I log in. I'm surprised that so few people customize their UIs that they sent this live as is.

Seriously, this is completely unacceptable. Not to mention the fact they didn't even bother to document the AE nerfs. Seriously, seriously unacceptable, folks.

It's the equivalent of dealing with speeders on the freeway by having spike strips placed every ten feet on the interstate.

Result: Farmers find another way, everyone else gets their experience ruined. Wasn't this the sort of thing MARTy was supposed to prevent? Kneejerk changes (even if this was fairly slow) that hurt more than they help?

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

I was under the impression that the point of MARTy was to monitor for this sort of thing so that these sorts of changes could be implemented.

Ok, who "designed" the new Collect menu? They need to be dragged outside and beaten with their own keyboard

Did anyone actually test this at anything other than a window scale of 100%? Rubbish.

And if you actually try to open it, it's totally unreadable (can't get a screenshot with the menu open). It sits on top of everything else. Utterly useless.

Seriously, go hire someone who knows how to design UI.

who is running the show now over there devs? i mean really i dont think any of us players woulda wanted this ninja issue 21.5 release if it meant all these bugs came with them. srsly who is making the call to release this poop of an issue? why not just take your time and do things right? you know there is a saying if you do it right you only have to do things once. w/e thankfully ur game is free 2 play and I will be spending my money on other games thix xmas.

It's supposed to throttle excessive rewards. Which means, really, "who cares" if you go in with full defense/damage/etc. from inspirations - if you go above their threshhold, it shouldn't be awarding you anyway once you trip it.

So they wouldn't have to create such hamfisted nerfs.

Result for me: If I see "Custom enemies" in any arc, I'll now be skipping it. (Or, more honestly, I'll just start acting like AE doesn't exist other than as an inspiration vendor in most zones.)

While monitoring is part of it, MARTy is to prevent existing exploits from being so radical that they have to shut down the servers as a reaction to them simply going live.

Are you honestly trying to tell me that fixing game-breaking UI bugs is more important than selling an UNDEAD SURVIVAL KIT or PURCHASABLE WORTHLESS IOS?

It's not like you can get those things in game with minimal effort.

...oh wait.

Base Editor: Free Vertical Placement and Rotation

  • Added the ability for players to move base objects horizontally and rotate them about the vertical axis freely.
    • While placing an object, if the player holds SHIFT, they can move the object vertically.
    • Once placed vertically, if they wish to move the object again and maintain the vertical placement, they can hold the CTRL key.
    • If they do not use the CTRL key, the object will snap to the first encountered ground the cursor is placed over.
    • If the player holds ALT, they can rotate the object about the vertical axis.
KNOWN ISSUE: Rotating a base object about the vertical axis during initial placement will snap the object into a corner of the base with part of the object inside the wall.
  • This should only affect the initial placement of a new base object.

This issue of City of Heroes has been brought to you by the letter AWESOME!

It's not missing because it's not new. That arc's been available as a flashback for a while now; I think it was part of the I21 update.

Glad to see this update going forward from beta,

disappointed that bugs are emerging out of their little dens,

shaking my head at AE changes not being in the patch notes,

and bases turning on their owners? I may have a new favourite bug. Really, it's hilarious!

Because designing and animating a wolf pet is the exact same job as designing, QA testing and bug-fixing a UI change, done by the exact same people, using the exact same resources.

Wait, no it's not.

Good, maybe this will finally get me to play my Peacebringer again. Less KB is good feature.

My energy blaster gets retired until that changes.

I am going to have to try really, really, really hard not to go and place a bunch of new weapons systems in my bases, just on general principle.

While I am not going to second the belittling comments (attacking someone's skills when I don't know the circumstances isn't my style generally), I will add that this finished product just isn't good enough. Leave it as it was till an improvement can be made, because this isn't it. While I would like if the new information can eventually be presented in some way this is not the way; this is a 1/2 step forward in info availability for 2 steps back in useability.

I can't possibly imagine it staying like it is, but yeah, a lot of folks I know are going to love the KB bug.

I'm glad I didn't add any PvP defensive items to my base for decorative purposes. >.>

Less KB should be an optional feature. Personally, I love it because a lot of my melee characters duo with characters with KB that makes me scream. But lots of squishies use KB to good effect and need it to survive. Blanket nerfing the effect without any sort of documentation is unprofessional at best.

Seriously, whoever greenlit this partial patch should be strung up. Nothing new, undocumented nerfs and a load of bugs?

Oh, but we get rare incarnate salvage now. Whoopdie-doo for the rest of the game.

Marty is also there to give much more precise feedback on how and where the exploits are happening - that's why we've had two important fixes for rez abuse and ambush abuse so soon after Marty went live.
Marty isn't just a watcher - he's a hunter too
