He is, without a doubt, the coolest looking controller pet.

That said, is he a ranged attack pet? I assumed he was melee, as I never saw him use a ranged attack. And he's almost always hiding behind me. Maybe I just need some tips, or to do some research, on how to use him.

If you skip the fighting pool, what sort of defense do you end up with? Does it just not seem to matter with all the strong control tools?

I love O2, and do not, even slightly, consider it skippable, unless it's a solo only build. I would lose the Spirit Tree, but, that's back to that pesky theme I'm trying to stick with, so that's not droppable either. I would be completely willing to lose the fighting pool, is it wouldn't hurt survivability, though.

And, as a final thought, I'm loving the last chance for some good old back and forth chance to learn some new tricks, POVs, etc, with one last build. This is part of the game I always loved, and love the input, and the differing viewpoint. Admittedly, controllers are not on of my stronger classes, build-wise, or play-style, either, so the help is quite appreciated.

Thank you both for the input. I think I'll try to take some of both of your suggestions. I *knew* it could be tweaked out a bit better, but I was just getting to that mental block place....

@Psy Yes, I did mean that to be a +7.5% recharge, and I quite like the added resistances.

@Local Thanks so much for the catch on the doubling up on teh Zephyr -KB. And I like a lot of your other improvements, too. I agree with ya that Ice APP and SS would be better (I personally dislike flight as a travel a lot) but it's sorta thematic. I'm usually willing to make concessions to theme, since careful slotting and IOing can get ya still quite high end enough for almost any situation anyhow.

Now I just need to get 4 more levels in the time I have left, and make sure I have all the IOs laying about.

    Thanks again!

PS: If anyone else can offer any other suggestions, though, I'll happily still listen to any more input.

PPS: I'm sorta surprised that nobody suggested, or even mentioned the fact that I skipped the pet. It seemed pretty bad to me, in play, but I thought maybe I was just doing something wrong. But, as nobody advocated that I should try to add it back in, should I surmise that it's just that bad a pet?

What makes this game great, is the fact that somehow, someway, somewhy, many folks just get helpful. I know I've both done it, and received it. I've never felt more welcomed to a community than when someone spontaneously helped out with a Fort, or a AM, etc. IT was a long, long time ago, but I still try to pay it forward as best I can. And love every minute of doing so..

When it was shut down, the good ol' standby City was still around to jump back in. Now that COH is gone(sadness), there is no "fallback" option.

I'm going to go on record and say this: If NCsoft does come out with COH2, and this is all just a bad publicity stunt, I will be the first to sign up. Bad business decisions be damned, I still love COH. I will grab my main 50's, re-roll the rest, and jump right back into late night and early morning runs of the new content. I have looked at all the other MMO;s on the market and NONE capture not a single iota of my imagination. I was gonna jump ship to WOW but I really hate the fantasy aspect(Pandas???..really??). COH is, in my honest opinion, one of the most underrated MMO's on the market. DCU?-I hate every character except for Batman. Marvel Universe?- Good premise but unless they're willing to jump away from the canon and get gritty, it's not for me. I like tanking against Freakshow and blasting the hell outta Malta....

Hoping for either a sale of COH or a rollout of COH2.....

If a new CoH comes along, I'll for sure try it. But it had better measure up, else I'm gone, and giving poor reviews..

Otherwise, I'm done with NCSoft, and likely shy/sorta-done with the other big MMOs/MMOers. I mean really; WoW; King-Fu Panda time? Jumped the shark at all? I don't give it 2 more seasons before it shrinks seriously, or just goes away. Unless the whole MMO market goes south so bad that bad is still the best option.. But, not for me..

I'll try a few, and hope to be impressed, but I'm not holding my breath..
  6. Any suggestions for a good slotting for static field? Seems I can't slot to increase teammates end recovery bonus, so, how should I slot this thing?

I'm thinking purple sleep set. 5 of em.. But am not sure if perhaps a different method might be better.. Is this a power that perhaps should be frankenslotted?

    Future WSTs?

I hear ya there. I wish a lot of the stuff was trade-able that isn't. Catalysts spring to mind. Paragon Market points, too. Almost all of the Incarnate loot..

You are correct though that WoW is not like to increase their playerbase by 20% any time soon.

I wouldn't wager any large sums of money I can't afford to lose that WoW might not get jerked... Prolly not next week, but within 2 years, it could happen..

The real fighting hasn't started yet.

The real fighting starts when the servers go down, and when NC tries to peddle their products on any website that has....forums.... feedback.... expressions of public opinion...

THAT is when it's gonna hurt THEM.
I'm not sure I'm there with you, yet, Rabbit-Stew, but, when the servers go down, and I can't find a suitable replacement for my spare time, I might be right there with ya. Bored and angry... Dangerous combo..

    Either works for me..

It'll definitely be a party day, as that might free up CoHs license if it isn't already sold..

    Plant/Storm

Well, my plant storm is finally nearing 50. So much has changed since I started her that I'm basically gonna scrap the original final build I had planned.

So, hope to find a suggestion or two for a final build. This is what I've come up with. I'm pretty much sold on the EPP choice. And I'm sold on Flight as the travel. Otherwise, feel free to tweak, or or do a complete overhaul. Thanks.

I mean, it might be a good game...I'll never know, so I won't venture an opinion, let alone a review.
Plese feel free to PM with your thoughts on this topic.
  15. It's so close that mostly, the people that prefer Corruptors are going to recommend Corruptors, and the people that prefer Defenders are going to recommend Defenders.

If you have a specific playstyle, or if you have a specific goal in mind and plan a very high end build to meet that outlier goal, then that may influence which is a better choice.

Also, it matters most during the leveling up process. If you plan to get PLed to 50 and start working on your final build, it's going to matter a lot less.
  16. Seems like 33s go for more, due to the fact that you can exempt to 30 with 33s, and keep the sets, and for things like TFs, Ouro, etc, you almost always exempt to round numbers. Granted, the last few seasonal trials haven't been that way, so maybe 33s aren't in the same kind of demand they used to be in. Really, tho, as Sail said, the final numbers aren't much different, and so it comes down to taste.

For the record, not trying to change anyones' mind here, but for those others reading the thread, mostly, at 33, you'll often be rolling on the 30-34 table, meaning that you can see the ever in demand Erad set drop. I don't think I ever see that drop when running at 35, but I might just have missed it.
  17. I would skip (and have) Flash, Ice, and maybe Entangling from TA and from Archery, I'd lose Exploding, Ranged, and maybe Stunning.

Once you know where it's it, if you have any stealth at all, or any speed type power (Super speed is best, since it's a bit of both) you can get out quite quickly, and yes, then you're close to the contact you'll have to talk to. That assumes you're decent and moving quickly through caves, of course, which isn't easy for a lot of folks. Stupid torches along the way don't help, either.

    Mothership Solo?

Don't know for sure abut the minimum number of bombs, but I can tell ya when I've run it on a foursome, U'kon doesn't seem to spawn until well after we have planted 4 bombs.

I admit that might be because we try to get through the bomb phase fast, or may be random, or any number of other factors..
  20. Sounds like I need to lose Neutrino, though. Too bad, the proc machine gun was fun, but minus that advantage, can't see my Rad/Rad def keeping it..
  21. Thanks for all the feedback, Hope. I'm now much more optimistic about these changes.

    The area factor is given by 1 + radius * (11 * arc + 540) / 30000, but for PPMs, it only uses 75% of the difference from 1. So the formula becomes 1 + .75 * radius * (11 * arc + 540) / 30000.

For example, the modified area factor of Foot Stomp (radius 15, arc 360) is 1+.75*15*(11*360+540)/30000 = 2.6875.
The modified area factor of Crowd Control (radius 8, arc 180) is 1+.75*8*(11*180+540)/30000 = 1.504.
The modified area factor of Psychic Scream (radius 60, arc 30) is 1+.75*60*(11*30+540)/30000 = 2.305.

And for a complete example, the Force Feedback proc (2 PPM) in Foot Stomp (with 60% recharge slotted) would have a proc chance of:
    2*(2.1+20/1.6)/(60*2.6875) = 18.1%
So, in your example, is that 18% chance to fire, per enemy hit by the proc? If so, it sounds like even the AOE powers might even be better off in the new format, assumed they aren't really fast chargers...
