OK, speaking of missions that need revamping in the worst way, let's get some data mining up in this thing: Has anyone ever starved to death or died of old age - or, for that matter, boredom - while attempting to complete Mercedes Sheldon's "go to the hugest, sprawlingest sandy cave map on Earth and personally beat up every member the Warriors gang has ever had in the history of the world ever" mission? Because I'm pretty sure I came close to both A and C while soloing it with my MA/W Scrapper this afternoon.

Defeat Atta is worse then this mission. Grabbing the invisablity temp power from Siren's Call can help get this mission done faster since you only have to take out the generals.

Those are two of my favorite missions. Go into the big caves and destroy EVERYTHING! Ah well, to each their own...

Atta was my first thought too. When I first started playing the game, a full team of my friends ran that mission starting at what seemed like a decent hour. We finished, I think, at 3AM. One guy ran headlong into one of the huge end-rooms because he had fallen asleep on his keyboard.

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

Ah, good ol' Atta with a team of eight. Yep, that mish took HOURS the first couple of times I did it. I was a rookie Blaster with terrible Endurance problems, teamed with Controllers who, in retrospect, were not very good at Controlling and Tanks that did not tank very well. We got overrun by Trolls continually. Multiple deaths and the random Team Wipe were featured.

Yet also in retrospect, as a result, I prowled the forums and learned about aggro and Blaster tactics, and picked up a little item called the Pull.

I also learned that Blasters RUN, because we can't cover the retreat, we can't save anyone, we can only get steamrolled with everyone else.

Atta inspired me to be a smarter Blaster, but DANG that mission took FOR-EVER.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

I always use the blaster as my first sign we've gone too far. If the blaster(s) take off it's time to hit Self Destruct.

That's actually one of the NEWER missions in the game. Not much chance of updating that one.

Besides, for the exact reason you dislike it, there are many players out there that LOVE it.

Ahhhh, someone else who remembers the "Better ******* Blaster's" Guide

Back in the day, being a Blaster meant surfing the debt-cap to victory!

Atta's much easier than this one.

It's the same map, yeah, but Atta's always in the same spot and his guards are always in the same route to him.

Hector's generals? Haha, good luck finding them.

I usually suggest Blasters to new players. Learning aggro radius is easier on a Blaster than on any other AT....

Played this yesterday. Hell of a scrap, loads of fighting and a map that's not the same office again. What's not to like?

Yeah its the same map as atta and its one of those missions that if your on a team, you will outlevel it and the mobs be next to useless by halfway of the map

Though is good fun if you suffer from scrapperlock! xD

I have to disagree, I like Atta, it is a fairly easy map to navigate, it is long but trolls are not impossible to defeat by any stretch or even all that difficult. You don't have to clean the cave so it doesn't have to be a horrible look for the last few groups thing. All in all personally I increase the diff ask around for people to join me (and if none go solo) and then just start in on a long mission with a fairly straight forward and uncomplicated design. IMHO Trolls are in my mind the last "easy" group before you move into the higher ranks with lots of other effects beyond damage.

It's kindda like settle down for a really lond movie and afterwards I am a few levels higher great fun

I will say had the mobs been more challanging or the map one of those horrid cave maps I would have hated it, but it isn't, it's just a simple beat 'em up with no real problems along the way. I guess it just makes me smile.

Isn't this the cave you can choose under the heading "Freaking Massive" in mission architect?

I've done that mission only twice, but feel that is more than sufficient. The next time I met Mercedes was on the Mortimer Kai TF, and was delighted to find I could beat the bejeebers out of her. Especially gratifying to find her acting prissy and fussy during the fight, complaining that we made her break a nail, and etc.

Ah, sweet justice!

Essentially the Atta map is a huge Troll farm.

If you fight your way through it straight, you come out about 2-3 levels higher than when you went in. And that's without touching difficulty.

This. If I have run through the Hollows arcs up until then, I am always down for running through that mission for the xp.

As for Mercedes Sheldon's arc, meh. I usually don't mind long missions, as long as things are moving at a decent pace. I actually like a big mission like that, since it makes me feel like I am making a dent in the Warriors' numbers, as opposed to taking down a small strike force that's robbing a warehouse somewhere.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

Same here. My Melee characters love the challenge of all those Warriors.

I remember way back in the day running the Atta mission on Aett, back when there was no aggro limit, and the mission was bugged so that as soon as you engaged a spawn, they teleported to the same location, and the enemies would stack quite nicely.

I basically sat at the spot they were teleporting to, with Icicles running, and the rest of the team went around shooting each spawn. By the time they got back, I had hundreds of Trolls all trying to hit me, with Icicles slowly killing them all off. Just pop a purple every once in a while, and I was all good.

I'd say bring back THAT bug anytime.

The mission I'd most like to see revamped is the hero-side respecification. I was watching Belle do it this weekend, and it reminded me of how boring it is. It's like, *fight, fight fight*...

Waaaaaaaaait...

*minor skirmish!*

Waaaaaaaaait...

*minor skirmish!*

Waaaaaaaaait...

(repeat like 10 times or so...)

...

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

I did that one not long ago solo on a Sonic/Sonic Defender. Took a while. Quite a long while.
