Hi Union
I been you guys for quite some time mostly in the RP Community hanging out with the people from the militia/shades of darkness/The League/Cadre SG (whoa they have many sub SGs) but I have popped in quite a bit in the URP and meet many many interesting and good people ohh and a few obnoxious one but those are found everywhere hehe. ANYWAY to get to the point I pretty much found that I not only feel like a break but found I simply no longer care for the game play and isn't all that interested in the story any longer, basically logging in became a chore rather then fun time, so I have decided to call it quits.
I like to thank all of you for giving me some great memories and a few of you I would even call friends. It's been a fun ride since 2005 and I have enjoyed most aspects of the game and I still think this game have one of the nicest communities out there.
I absolutely loved spending time with RPing a hero or a villain with the union RP crowd and I get dizzy thinking about the amount of time I spend in the character creator or in the tailor, even the missions were great even if the mechanics were kindda disappointing (I always wanted more freedom in choosing powers). In the end though I stopped caring any longer I no longer feel connected to the game or what it offers and I can't even say I am heading to some other green pasture, because I found that the other MMOs I played bore me as well.
I think the only thing I will really miss is the sense of belonging being part of a community/extended family that makes up this place and frankly it feels a bit lonely leaving it behind, but staying would simply taint the good memory of the community.
I wish to send my thanks and most fund goodbyes to so many people and here is a short and sadly incomplete list and I say incomplete because I can't remember the names sadly:
Acre
@Ammon
Dante (EU is it not now?)
@Kallandra
@Mikey2Dope
@Romanov
@Wild Red
The cadre SG
The paragon metahuman academy SG
I am really sorry if I forgot someone truly, but I am sure you all know how fund I am of you and should anyone which to reach me I have a gmail.com address under the name zouron so you can email me.
Anyway thanks for many good years and and even more good times. -
Quote:I am in full agreement with this. Basically a New AT is really nice and all, but a new AT with a AT specific level 1-50 story line as the EAT is just awesome (and allows some far more focused stories).I'd expect people to be willing to pay around $15-$20 for a new EAT given the current price of ATs in the market. Maybe $25 if the EAT came with a really in-depth story arc.
I don't exactly think that's too terribly crazy since an EAT as it currently stands has two powersets (expanded though they may be) and a story shared with their paired EAT. Current 'from scratch' powersets that contain unique animations and mechanics are going for $10 and the entirety of First Ward content is $7.50. So maybe $12.50 for the AT itself and $7.50+ for the 1-50 story content unique to the AT (and maybe its paired EAT if it gets one) but then the story content's free for VIPs? That way you're not too far price currently on the market for Khelds and Arachnos.
That said though, I'd gladly pay for interesting EATs. I've always found them to be a fascinating idea and I really wish we had more of them (Will pay for Coralax EAT ....). -
Quote:My variant on this would be a MM pet as secondary and then I would take advantage of the new four legged rig and do a transformation style power set for the main AT with a mixed focus on defense and attack (a bit like the Kheldian ATs works). It would be a damage oriented AT with a transformation as the basis for it, but where you would have to make some hard choices of having either defenses and melee attacks or use the range attacks of the secondary. This would enable them to make MM powersets more widespread/generally available), provide a different flavor for PET, less a mastermind and more a one with the pack or Packleader AT. Also it would enable the designers to easily make a bunch of matched pairs for power sets ie:A Leader AT, complement to the Mastermind AT. They'd have modified versions of the MM pets; the pets would do less damage and more support. The Leader Primary would consist of henchmen summoning and basic armor powers, the Leader Secondary would be a melee attack set. The Inherent would be sort of a combination of an inverted MM Supremacy and Tanker Gauntlet; being near your pets boosts your attacks and defenses, while attacking the enemy draws aggro to you and away from the pets. The idea being that you have a pet control character who leads from the front; you attack, and the pets support you.
Beastmastery + Werewolf type powerset (could be wolves, lions or even dire wolf whatever)
Demon Summoning + Demon type powerset
Robotics + Cyborg/clockwork/something?
Mercenaries + Commander type in the best fifth column type (Reichsman and his soldiers basically)
Necromancy + vampire/wraith/ghost?
Ninjas + some sort of oni?
Thugs + umm not sure.
anyway that is sorta what I would like to see. -
Completely totally awesome as always, you rock D_R!
-
Well go do soemthing you enjoy then Tech, and come back to us when you want to have fun again
we will miss you.

Quote:I have to disagree, I like Atta, it is a fairly easy map to navigate, it is long but trolls are not impossible to defeat by any stretch or even all that difficult. You don't have to clean the cave so it doesn't have to be a horrible look for the last few groups thing. All in all personally I increase the diff ask around for people to join me (and if none go solo) and then just start in on a long mission with a fairly straight forward and uncomplicated design. IMHO Trolls are in my mind the last "easy" group before you move into the higher ranks with lots of other effects beyond damage.Defeat Atta is worse then this mission. Grabbing the invisablity temp power from Siren's Call can help get this mission done faster since you only have to take out the generals.
It's kindda like settle down for a really lond movie and afterwards I am a few levels higher great fun
I will say had the mobs been more challanging or the map one of those horrid cave maps I would have hated it, but it isn't, it's just a simple beat 'em up with no real problems along the way. I guess it just makes me smile. -

Quote:I pretty much agree with the sentiment of Zortel here, especially the "don't touch the Roleplaying" section. Also like Zortel I am concerned about the merger of the regional sub forums, I can live with them being merged together, but completely removing them in favour of the one big community approach would drown out those forum and the posts in the mass coming from the already very busy City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussions. It is frankly so busy and larger that merging would in effect eliminate the small regions ability to communicate effectively, for example about the player meets in that for anyone who doesn't read the forum daily or even several times a day any post would be long gone into pages 2 or 3 which means that only the very most dedicated people will ever see them.Re: AT forums - If you can't do the excellent Forum/Sub Forum idea as pictured above, leave them as is. If I want information on Tankers, I go to the Tanker section. A Brute is not a Tanker. A Corruptor is Ranged DPS and Support, not just Ranged DPS. So on, so forth.
If half of my power set is dedicated to buffing and debuffing, am I going to look in Ranged Damage, or Support?

Re: Other Forums
News, Events & Announcements:
I've always wondered why Announcements and News, Events and Announcement Discussions are seperate. If you look at an announcement post, you then have to go to a discussion post to comment on it. That seems a little odd to me to have if you're wishing to reduce faff.
Supergroup and Villain Group recruitment: Always wondered why this isn't covered under Server forums.
Player Events: I can see as being of use to interest people to move servers, so keep it where it is.
------------------
Development:
I'd recommend splitting this up into two sections.
1: Development (Has Develeoper's Corner, Dev Digest, Community Digest)
2: Testing and Technical Support (Has Gameplay/Tech issues, Training Rooms, Chararacter Copy Tool. Possibly move Mac Users to this section from Player Help.)
------------------
Player Help:
Add a section on the Paragon Market and Paragon Reward System.
-------------------
For Fun:
I never really understood why Screenshots and Fan Creations, and Multi-Media City of Heroes and Villains were separate. Wouldn't one heading of 'Creative Works' suit better, covering multi-media to costume designs and so on?
Please don't hurt Roleplaying. In the EU Forums it took a long time for us to get a forum of our own. I'd miss it terribly if it went.
I never quite got Forum Games. Maybe some people love it though, so they'd have to say.
Regarding the EU forum subsection, I've never gotten much use out of it myself, so I won't speak on keeping/abolishing it. I'll note though that it's been used for organizing player meets. If it was removed, would the ban on cross-posting make trying to draw attention from say, the EU Server sections to Player Events prohibited? That'd be a worry for those trying to get promotion to an event taking place in real life.
-----------------
Server forums: As is.
------------------
But for ease of use couldn't we just have the paragon reward system under player question and the paragon market integrated into the invention and market forum? or both into this. I don't honestly know how active the market sub forum is as I don't use it, but I could see this being expanded with this for at least the paragon market is all about in game items as well.
The character copy tool, couldn't it be moved in under the training room/beta forums rather then have it's own link to m anyway it takes up space (and rather far up the list) for something I assume most don't use on a daily or even a weekly basis.
Lastly one thing about the forum setup is that, while things are certainly categorized in well ordered sections, I do wish that the general discussion forums were near the top of the forums list rather then close to the bottom, those and the news are, at least to me, those that seems to have the most daily use for use on the board. -

it's a conspiracy to avoid us getting many successful BAF runs! hehe

Quote:Since you asked I think it deserves a small answer... though it has been answered several times earlier in the thread...[
Would you prefer keeping your Global name and only having 4 servers to use it on? Or Maybe have to change it in exchange for 11 more?...
Yes I rather keep my global and 4 servers. (I believe others agree with this sentiment). I guess it is the fact that I only play on one as it is.
Anyway this legal stuff is a wee bit too much for my taste. -
Quote:^^^^The thing that makes me laugh is this is being sold as the greatest thing to happen since sliced bread. As a guy who plays on 1 server all this mean to me is that instead of having 3 servers I don't use I will now have 14. So what do I get in exchange for this great gift besides carpel tunnel from scrolling* further to find my server?
I am in the same boat as this, I play exclusively on one server and don't feel a great need to play on any others. New servers? ok whatever. YMMV
Quote:The system that they are planning to use will treat everyone equally, sure, and it simplifies the disruption from a Database management perspective (only one of the two databases gets altered before they get merged), but it is not fair, and it's certainly not looking after your loyal customers. -
Exacly my point. I thought I were safe and had checked, I guess I didn't. Anyway I hope the solution will be found soon and that it isn't a "free name change to people with _NA or _EU" because that means all the inactive gets to keep their while the active either accept the _EU or _NA. However I have high hopes that a better solution comes up

[ QUOTE ]
I agree, CoV was the best thing that ever happened. I rarely play hero-side. ...but it didn't sell very well, now did it? They never eally kept building on it, because the majority stayed true to heroes, even heroes-only. That is, sort of, a failure. I think they expected it to sell better, and it seems they finally gave up and gave it away to the rest of the people. I'm basically (censored) off every day because they don't bring us more villaineous content, but I understand it since, even with Villains free, people still remain "loyal" to the blue side.
[/ QUOTE ]
In that case GR is "more" then CoV since it adds neutral stuff and generally effects both sides equally allowing both groups to access the new content. Well at least as I see it. -
If CoV failed as an expansion, it would probably be reasonable to state why it failed. For me CoV was about the best thing that happened to CoX, but I would like to hear why you think it failed
And if we know why CoV failed then we can define that rather vague "more". -
he probably has a melee set, they seem to be "less" then active. Try giving him a range set, either instead of melee or as a secondary set.
-
First of all many thanks for reviewing it, I will do my best to make the whole thing more presentable. Thank you.
[ QUOTE ]
The map used for mission one is an abandoned warehouse. It's full of a custom faction of Beduin Warriors (their description labels them as villains bringing shame to their people), the minions use the Broadsword powerset (Arabian Scimitar), and the lieuts use Archery, high enough to have Explosive Arrow - that particular attack feels a little bit out of place. Your goal is to recover the tablet, but there's two other optional goals - a CoT Ruin Mage named Archmage Trasis (spawns frontloaded and escaped after I attacked him), and a MA/WP ally named Sir Lionel Trevellia, who spawns without any guards and says "Nicely done"(?) when you meet him.
[/ QUOTE ]
I removed the explosive arrow that should help, I didn't feel it was a huge issue consideirng how often they turn up in action movies set in any age these days, but if people think it kills the feel they are out
As for Lionel I could have sworn I made sure he was fighting someone, but for some reason that never stuck hmm... well corrected again (and hopefully in the other missions as well) thanks for noticing
[ QUOTE ]
Turns out Tarsis tampered with the tablet and copied it, escaping to Cairo, Egypt with the copy. You take the Oriental Express and a ship to catch up to him, and agree to meet up in an office - which turns out to be taken over by Beduin Warriors. The mission has a 30 minute timer, which you're not warned about, and Tarsis tries to flee at low HP (I got him this time though). Sir Lionel Trevellia makes another appearance, again with possibly messed up text lines.
[/ QUOTE ]
I removed the time limit, it wasn't essential. As for the boss flees... really any boss who isn't done with his plot should try to flee I guess that is just my philosophy, but I will see about setting up some warning.
[ QUOTE ]
You finally make it to the tomb, only to find it's already being looted by villains - your goal is to recover the artifacts and subdue the leader of the tomb raiders. The raiders are from a faction humorously named the League of Scoundrels, and look rather appropriate for soldiers on a desert operation. They have typical soldier powersets, AR, Martial Arts, etc. There's some Bedouin around, too.
Your goal is to collect... 21 glowies, on a large Orangebagel map. I didn't believe my eyes at first. This is a long mission. Luckily enough, none of the glowies turned out to be particularly tricky to find, but I suspect luck to have played a role in that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok I admit this one is a bit tricky, but it is actually an optional goal, I can't decide you complete mission by either collecting all the artifacts or defeating the boss, so I went for having to defeat the boss, but eluded to you had to preserve them. I clearly marked that now as an optional goal and I changed it so you don't know how many there is in all (using the single instead of plural line). The idea for many glowies was for them to be collected for "british museums" making a remark to how the plundered the treasures of Egypt back in those days. Basically by not collecting them you are allowing the egyptians to keep their artifacts. Anyway they are still there.
[ QUOTE ]
You also meet Tarsis' (rebellious) apprentice as an optional boss, and your mysterious friend Sir Lionel Trevellia, held hostage this time.
[/ QUOTE ]
He wasn't in the original script but he enforces the level limit which I thought was essential.
[ QUOTE ]
The (Elite) boss is just called 'Commander', and wears a black outfit with a cape and military hat, in contrast to the light beige outfits and barrets the normal soldiers wear. He's Broadsword/Invulnerability, and killed me pretty good the first time due to being exemped below my godmode. The second time I had Lionel with me, and it went better. No Unstoppable, thank you to the author.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well he has unstoppable but he only have two attacks so he shouldn't be super hard. BTW I suppose due to your setting you never saw it but the regular "boss" mob for the LoS also wears black.
[ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, it isn't over. Deeper in the tombs, the League and its enigmatic leader (whose name I sadly forgot... not in the souvenir either) are working on a necromantic ritual to bring to life some sort of creature trapped in the tomb. You're sent to stop them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I will see if I can get it in the souvenir, which is being completely reworked (to get room for text elsewhere). The poem is the original I wrote that I used as basis for the whole idea, but any story is a "kill your darlings" and I guess this is one I have to kill.
[ QUOTE ]
Your contact tells you that to do this, you need to take out the two Necromancers, and keep four pillars from being destroyed.
...strangely enough, once you're actually -in- the mission, one of your objectives is to destroy the pillars. I suspect the author picked the wrong objective type by accident.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry about that I tested this a lot on test and found that the mobs never ever attacked the pillars so I changed type, I apparently forgot to change the text, ops bad me this will be corrected.
[ QUOTE ]
The two Necromancers are Necromancy/Dark Miasma EBs - could be tough for some, but the arc did warn you to bring a team. I think Tarsis was in this mission too.
The leader of the League is also present, though his name eludes me at the moment. I'm terrible with names, sorry. He fills the role of a third Necromancer, and throws undead minions at you. He conned as an EB, and wasn't much tougher than the other two in the mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
He is an AV, (at least MA says so) so he should be tougher, did a few changes to give him more firepower instead to make him a bit more different. Ohh and his name is Alexander Romanov
[ QUOTE ]
Destroying the pillars spawned a new objective - what looked like a young girl dressed in faux Egyptian garb named Nile. She mutters something in what I suspect is meant to be Egyptian, but I was unsuccessful in translating it. Granted, the first word she uttered resembled gibberish more than anything like a word... Escorting her out of the tomb ended the mission, and the arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not Egyptian, it is ancient Egyptian, I used the Beinlich wordlist for the words what she asks is "Friend?" I might be using the list wrongly if so then someome please tell me how to do so correctly and I will
[ QUOTE ]
The arc is set in the past, though not in the form of an Ouroboros flashback, so it might be difficult to do in-character for those who enjoy that sort of thing. Unless you pretend it's a flashback.
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess it is meant as a retelling of an old adventure. The idea after all in MA is that it is an entertainment center so in the end I decided not to take that too serious. I will think on how to make it more accessible for RP'ers.
[ QUOTE ]
Your contact, the random guy who helps you in the missions, and the League are not introduced properly to the player. Nile's nature or fate are barely alluded to at all, and even then far too vaguely. I was hoping for an explanation in the Souvenir, but it turned out to simply be a semi-cryptic poem...
[/ QUOTE ]
I will do my ebst to fill the gaps and make these characters more "known" to the player, I guess I just didn't think much about it, my bad!
[ QUOTE ]
I do recommend this one to play, though. It just needs some work to make it more presentable. Also, the EBs are tough, the description wasn't kidding when it said to bring a team, especially due to the level cap (24).
[/ QUOTE ]
I designed it to be somewhat lower level just for it not to be another high level mish to wander through. I am fully aware it is designed "hard" for a solo but it is in all seriousness meant for a team.
Anyway thanks for the review I thought I be totally slaughtered but you only chewed lightly, I thank you for thisand for pointing out all the problems, I will work on correcting them.

If you are up to it and all I love to hear what you think of my arc.

But I have a question. Are we moving over to ONLY getting new costume pieces and emotes via paid-for addon packs? Seeing as we didn't get any free ones in this issue, which is pretty unusual...
[/ QUOTE ]
It is but really can we really count i14 as being a "standard" for issues seeing as it is really a beefed up version of stuff that were suppose to be in i13. I think the question becomes valid if i15 has none of this stuff.
