My faith in the community team is... well, not really restored, as 'Generally Positive' doesn't tend to change all that much. But it's great to hear this is being looked into.
It was starting to bug me, and it doesn't even affect my handle (though I'd have to wonder what other strange person in the EU would have my exact one).
I can't find any evidence of an EU Primal either. Odd. Could be I just don't know how to search for it properly.

What I think they might do is an inactive name purge, a bit like the ones they've done for in-game names - that'd surely reduce the number of duplicate names to only a few.

Honestly though we would not have proceeded with the plans for the merge had we not carefully thought out these details well before hand. We had meetings literally months ago to work this out before we moved forward with investing in the technology to resolve the login issues.
We have a plan, it just behooves us to make sure everything else is settled down before we start sending out the assassination squads to resolve naming conflicts. Here's to hoping you all win the coin flip!

Also unaffected (I renamed my US forum handle (which I only used twice back in 2004) to something like SHJDH*£NJSND just before the forums went down).
Glad to see it's a temporary fix though.

Just so you folks know, we do have definite plans to address this. Lets all get settled in and have the boards running smoothly, and this will be the next thing we address. I promise.
