Want to show off your VIP awesomeness on the forums?

personally I don't think the colors are that awful looking together .. my question is why bother. Umm unless I read things wrong only a VIP will be able to actually POST on the forums so why do I need a different colored name and a vip title.

In all honesty. lol until I read this thread to see what it was about I never even noticed the new "GOLD" names. So much for high profile

They are 'debating internally' on allowing limited posting for Premium and Free accounts. Probably in certain sections only.

So the color coding and ViP titles will be so we can easily tell who is at what level.

I just wish we could have the Gold names while stil keeping our old title.

Actually no.

There are certain forums that are unlocked for Premiums (and I'm guessing Freemies).

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I don't understand why F2P people can't have access to post in the forums. That doesn't make sense.

It's an effort to keep the spam posts down. Likely also to keep RMT posts off the forums as well. There may be other reasons I can't think of right now.

I can understand the lack of posting privileges for most of the forums, but I think there should be areas they can post in to get assistance such as the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section, possibly the Player Help and Player Questions sections as well.

Of course, monitoring of those areas would need to increase and if posters routinely abuse the forum rules, remove their posting privileges altogether.

Actually, thinking about it, I want to be able to select which posters names flash and a selection of descriptions to chose from. That way whenever I'm logged in and scanning through a 400 post thread I can easily spot who's who!

Because then they start making free accounts, posting spam or just rule breaking post on the forums causing more work for the moderators, and losing nothing as they can just make a new free account and do it all over.

They can post in Player Questions and Technical Issues for sure, possibly other subforums (?). They can only make new threads and reply in threads they made, they can't reply to others' (this is really a dumb choice). They can't send or receive PMs. They can't have an avatar or signature.

Think about everything a player can do for which the only primary recourse NCSoft has for abusing the privilege is banning. Banning is meaningless to a person that can create an unlimited number of free accounts. So anything that is ripe for abuse that is kept in check primarily through banning has a high probability of being limited from completely free players. And most of (not all) those things involve communication channels.
