Wow it's so good to be back and I hope to have a lot of fun this time around

If nothing else, it's worth a shot.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Currently, I'm a subscribing VIP; but, I plan to cancel my subscription and play as a Premium player. Does today's announcement mean, if I cancel my subscription now, I can then immediately login as a Premium player?
If not, when can I switch to Premium?

*Edit* I think I might have found the bug. About 30 months after I registered my beta account I had accidentally added a booster pack code to it. After contacting support they closed my beta account and gave me a new booster pack code for my active account. So maybe the paragon reward system calculated those 30 months as paid time? That would give me 12 paragon reward tokens according to this table and I would get two other paragon reward tokens for having an account and adding a retail code to it. That would explain the 14 paragon reward tokens I got on that old beta account.

How appropriate that CoH: Freedom goes live in September... All existing players must try our hardest to make sure that it does not become an Eternal September! Teach new players in-game etiquette, guide them from newb-ness and steer them not into n00b-ness!

I don't think you were confused, sometime before launch us beta folks were advised to make new accounts for a reason that I don't recall. I did it too, leaving my old beta account inactive but under the same master account. Eventually, I activated it for a couple of years. Friday, it became a premium account and it works just fine.

My tabletop gaming group decided we'd play CoH together. And I remember being in the beta from preordering, maybe 2 weeks before go-live. And I make it to level 14, and bought fly... and was like.... hoooooooly cow, I'm going to be playing this game for a long time.

I'm happy Freedom is finally released. I'll be waiting for the full release on Tuesday, create a new free account, and play that, because I'm curious how that would be like. I want the full free experience.

I actually have a problem with this. Admitted, it's a personal one, but still a problem. Several years ago, my brother died. He was an avid CoH player. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with you guys reactivating his account forever. I was OK with reactivation for a short time, but forever? What if somebody hacks in and finds his account and it's information? Am I likely to see his characters running around? What guarantees can you make that nothing so annoying will happen?
Admitted, this is a very rare (at least, I hope it is) concern, but it's one that I have in the back of my mind and I'm just not sure I like having it.
I'm most likely just being paranoid, but I feel this way, however irrational it might be.
I'd like all the ghosts of the past to stay at rest.
A fine idea, and quickly implamented, too. It occurs to me that alot of MMO's are going free-to-play these days, or partially, at least.
However, I don't think I'll be using my premium account any time soon. I left not because of money worries or subscription fees, but for a very different reason - boredom. After being an almost continual subscriber since the COV beta right up to the Praetorian invasion stuff, it just stopped holding my interest
@Beggly - That is an interesting issue. Not sure what to tell you though, maybe contact support and see if they could outright delete the account. Though I wouldn't worry about seeing his toons running around as that has been a very real possibility this whole time. With an account that inactive his names would've been freed up in one of the purges long ago. Still, I can understand your nagging feeling.
@Gorbaz - I'm with you. I've only cancelled once due to money being tight, even then it was only for a month waiting on new job to clear payroll etc.
I've dealt with burnout far more often, usually leading to me not even entering the game for months on end... Thing is, I continue to pay even then, for forum access and to support the game I love!

My friend still hasn't had his account reactivated while all of my other friends have. I feel bad for him, he's been trying to login for days.
I just actived my old account a 11month account from 2006/7 Gave me 5 global slots,
Try 2 of the toons on it .. go for a 3rd it would not let me have it because the toon was a controller, but still used up one of my slots.
Guess now i just report it. just a warning controllers are not Free

You made my 8 year old very happy today because I am letting him have an old lapsed account of mine. I even bought him some Paragon Points so he can shop a little.
He's been asking ever since the announcement if City of Heroes was free to play and now he can.
