Question on Signature Story Arcs

1) Is it different for Hero and Villain?

2) Is there a minimum level for the Arc?

3) What is the time frame you have to do this? Does it expire after Sept 30th?

4) If and when it does expire, is that arc gone forever?

Yes

2) Is there a minimum level for the Arc?

level 20

3) What is the time frame you have to do this? Does it expire after Sept 30th?

forever

What I'm not sure about is how often you can claim the rewards. Is it every 24 hours or once a week?

I just realized I misunderstood Ultimis question about minimum level.

You'll be exempted to level 20 when you start the arc, I don't know if there is a minimum level you must be in order to start it.

I can't express how sad this made me.

I will just read the summaries on the wiki rather than slog thru even 1 mission of level 20 content on my mains.

I don't think in 5 years I have even met someone that had an exempt build for down to level 20.

Nothing says fun like having to go turn your diff down to go play what is meant to be a bonus for being a subscriber.

The red-side one let me start as a level 17, should it have refused me as being too low of level?

Whether that's working correctly or not, finding that these are structured as multi-part task/strike force arcs has me fairly disappointed. I don't like being locked into TF mode. I like working several story arcs at a time, and being able to join pick-up groups between missions when I want as well.

I have to admit not following the details on these; but weren't they advertised as story -arcs- not story task-forces?

No Ardrea, I'm just saying I only know what the level cap for this story arc is. I have no idea if there is a minimum level you must be to start it.

Ran it today at level 13, got myself a Hero Merit, too.

Have heard mumbles in global channel that the minimum is either 10 or 11 (conflicting reports).

The contact alert thingie appeared for a new character when I went from 9 to 10, so I'm guessing 10.

That makes two!

And since the exemplar level is 20, you have access to your powers up to level 25.

I found the arcs to be trivially easy for my 50 to do, even on the non-exemplar build.

BTW, tons of people like to do the TFs at all levels on their mains. When the new Posi I and II came out, there were *lots* of exemplaring down to level 14 and 15.

If you respec your build at level 50, you should take power choices in the order best suited for exemplaring and you shouldn't have any problems. Obviously, if in a level 50 respec, you don't take any travel powers until you're 40... that will haunt you when you exemplar.

My main characters build is designed to be effective at all levels. I've exemped as low as level 1. Level 20 is a walk in the park - I get to keep Assault and Tactics.

I guess I'm number 4, or so, then. I have two builds on my main, one being a Level 1 to 29 build.

Anyway, just an FYI, I was able to claim the 10 Threads twice. I heard in another thread that you can claim each reward twice per week. I have no clue if the is WAI, though.

After running the arc numerous times to test the rewards

I was able to get:

Alignment Merit x1 (reward table says I cant get this again for 7 days from this arc)

20 bonus merits x1 (this is the normal 5 merit reward x4 and reward table says I cant get this again for 7 days from this arc)

Astral Merit x2 (reward table let me choose this twice for some reason and then told me I couldn't get it again for 7 days)

10 Incarnate Threads x1 (reward table says I cant get this again for 7 days from this arc)

5 Bonus Merits (this is what you can get an unlimited number of times it seems)

Jem - Ill/Rad Controller Lv 50+3 Nic - Mind/Psi Dominator Lv 50+3 Lady Liberation - Invuln/SS Tanker Lv 50+1 Invicitx - Demon/Pain Mastermind Lv 50+1 Celeste - Emp/Arch Defender Lv 50+1 Nightsilver - DB/WP Scrapper Lv 34 Dusk Howl - StJ/Regen Brute Lv 32 Kyriani - Time/Energy Defender Lv 41Psifire - FF/Psi Defender Lv 50

Not as easy with my fire/storm controller.

Not all of mine have such builds but most. I even stock up on the PvP recipes to keep some handy bonuses like +hp and +damage down low.

I've been experimenting with the -kb set bonus from fury of the gladiator, but sadly one application isn't enough. Fortunately, other than the -res and the quad most pieces of the set are about the same price as cleaving blow (ie dirt cheap, but still up from a few issues back when they were down at multistrike prices)

I even have power bar #7 on all my bulids set aside for temp power attacks and lowbie attacks for when I do exemp

So now you've met two.

You don't need a character built to exemplar down to 20 to complete the arc. None of my 50's are 'built' to exemplar down at all, but only one (an earth/rad controller) had any difficulty (because of the second mission and my low very low dps.) The scrapper and mastermind were able to steamroll right through it.

Everyone of my characters has a perfectly valid sub-20 build... because I played them at that level on the way up.

Exemping is harmless.
Different then when I'm at 50+? Sure.
Aches and pains enough to keep me away from cool content and rewards. Absolutely NOT.

I don't have a build, per se, that is set up to exemp down to 20, but I never respec my build at 50 so that it ONLY works at higher levels. In other words, my builds are just as playable exempted down to 20 as they were WHEN I was 20. (Moreso, given the Super Sidekicking rules give me my powers to 25)

Besides, it isn't as if here is that much to do at 50, even with iTrials. The whole point of the game is the journey from 1st to 50th, after all.

I ran this arc on 11 alts yesterday for the Alignment Merit, none of them are built specifically to exemplar. The Ambushes in the second mission can be completely skipped by popping 2 purples and running to each of the glowies and clicking it. I don't think this are took me more than 15 minutes on any character except my first Hero and Villain, and that was because I stopped to read it.

I'm happy to exemp to 20 but I play MM's.
I don't know if it's the same for hero side but have 3 slots empty for attacks in the final battle.

I ran it 3 times with three different characters. The level 23 Beam/Time controller went in a duo but my partner felt the need to fight every little thing that showed up so that one ended in a disaster and a bunch of debt. Never did finish it with her. However, my 33 Mind/Emp controller and my 50 Fire/Fire blaster made it through with flying colors solo while only killing the bosses at the end of the missions. I generally don't do TF's because I don't like being locked into missions for hours at a time but this one is only 3 missions long so its not bad. 30 minutes for the controller and 20 for the blaster. Had they made all 7 parts at once I more than likely would have skipped it, like I do with pretty much every TF. I think in my 7 years of playing I have run one, maybe 2 of them. I'm not a big fan of teaming up either, and my Beam/Time controller's experience is a prime reason why.

I don't have builds for exemplarin to any level. I just take my 50's and deal with it and I do not turn my difficulty down...

By the way, the new story completely ignores your difficulty settings so that wouldn't matter anyway.

This is the way to do it. I don't pick the powers exactly the same way I did the first time I went from 1 to 50 (It has been 7+ years. And I know more about the powers now then I did the fist time through. ) but they are picked at the appropriate level, so they are readily available when I exemp down.

It does not completely ignore the difficulty settings. I have ran it twice on my 50. First time was at 0+4 and I had huge spawns, all the way through all the missions. (And I missed the fact I was getting hit with ambushes the first time. I haven't aggroed that many mobs since the aggro cap was put in. Was a good time. ) Second time, I lowered it to O+1 and had 3 mob spawns all the way through. Much faster that way.
