Question on Signature Story Arcs

Did anyone else notice the boss at the end of the arcs gives a ton of exp? I play on +2 and he gave like half a level of exp to me at 30... I then ran it again at +4 which took a while (Popped a ton of reds and accuracy) and the boss at the end (The lost boss) gave me nearly a full level of exp...

I don't make an alt build for exemplaring - all my characters are built to be as exemplar friendly as possibly down to any level. With so much low and mid level content, why would anyone make a build that gets broken the instant you join a non-50 team?

Wait... The arc is supposed to be worth 5 merits? When I ran it it only gave me two on my tanker... Or the rewards-window told me I got two.

You get 2 for completing the arc, outside of the reward window. If you choose the Reward Merit reward, you get 5 more. If you choose the Reward Merit x4 reward, you get 20 more.

Though it seems that villainside is broken and doesn't award the 2 outside the reward window.

Hero side is different.

Honestly, at least for the 3rd mission with the boss, Villain side is considerably easier even though you get more waves at the end post-Boss.

And yeah, the Boss gives a ton of exp.

Anyway, just an FYI, I was able to claim the 10 Threads twice. I heard in another thread that you can claim each reward twice per week. I have no clue if the is WAI, though.
Posi posted a clarification to this elsewhere. Here's what's going on:

Let's call the "threads", "astral merits", "hero merit", "rewards x4" options you can choose from the 'special rewards.'

The first time a character plays a particular sig story arc, you get 'special rewards.' After that, once per week, each character can get 'special rewards' once per week by playing any one sig story arc.

So say your main, SuperDude, has waited until the first four sig arcs are out to start playing them. You play arc #1. That's the first time, so you get special rewards. You then play it again. You'll get special rewards again - that's your one-a-week. You then play #2. Special rewards (since it's the first time SuperDude's played arc #2). You play it again. No special rewards (you already used this week's on arc #1). Then you play #3. Special rewards (for first time you played #3). Then #4. Special rewards.

Then you wait a week. You play any one of the four (doesn't matter which), on SuperDude. Special rewards. Play any one of the other sig arcs before the week is up, no special rewards (since you've used up your once-a-week special rewards, and you've already played every one of the arcs, so none of them can ever be a 'first play of the arc' for SuperDude again - at least not until arc #5 comes out).

By the way, the new story completely ignores your difficulty settings so that wouldn't matter anyway.
It doesn't ignore difficulty. As noted by one other spawn size varies and I dropped from +3 to +0 and mobs went from red to white.

Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I did not test the spawn size, but after reading this thread I tested the Level and it dd not pay attention to me setting it at either -1 or +1 on level.

and while I'm here....

Villain side... does anyone else have the timer of the last mission start ticking town before the cut scene starts? Happens to me every time and it is complete impossible for me to get out in what remains when the cut scene ends. They may as well just do away with the timer for me and kill me when the cut scene ends. Maybe it would be a little less frustrating.

Haven't had that problem and I've done it 3 times so far. I have Ninja Run and it only takes a few seconds to make it to the exit.

When the caverns collapse, has anyone found a way out? I just end up using my Oro portal, or suicideing to the hosp. I didn't know if there was a super-secret way out that I have yet to discover?

Back at the entrance, when you are facing the door, turn left and there is a door there that opens. There is a bit to get through to the actual exit from there.

Has that door existed on prior maps with that same CoT entrance room? It seems that, after hitting the front door, you should have been given a way-point to that door... as it'd either be completely obvious, or completely obscure. I ended up running all the way back to the end room and exploring, then checking out the lava room (since there's usually a portal there as well). Time ran out for me, but I didn't die

I have tried it (unintentionally because I didn't think to adjust my settings) with both +3 level mobs and increased spawn size. It definitely DOES take your difficulty settings into account.

Yeah took me 30 mins on my first time because I fought ambushes, but 15 later by skipping them. And both runs on a completely unslotted level 14 (15 on second run) human PB

On blue side, the contact is a Lost named Theoden. He's standing outside the police station in Skyway. He may, or may not, show up on your map since the map settings got borked with Issue 21. You may have to adjust your map options for him to show up.

On red side, the contact is a CoT ghost named Alastor. I forget which zone he's in as I don't play red side that much and have only done his arc once.

Alastor is in Cap au Diable, on the waterfront piers in that stretch between the south ferry and the Black Copter.

I don't pay a lot of attention to exp. But a normal boss gives me 269 prestige. This dude gave 24k prestige. That is a really, really big difference.

It does, but it seems to use the task force difficulty lock code; at least, neither "-1 level" nor "no bosses" work (at least as of the last time I ran it with those settings enabled).
