Discussion - IMPORTANT: Paragon Rewards Program Update - 9/12/2011

Since announcing City of Heroes Freedom we’ve been extremely excited to share all of the new features coming with Issue 21, one of the most exciting being the Paragon Rewards Program.

We’ve fielded several questions over the last several weeks about the Paragon Rewards Program, one of which being about how Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded for players who purchase Multiple Month Subscription plans. Our original design, and what we’ve been sharing, is that VIP players who purchased multi month subscription plans would be awarded all Paragon Reward Tokens at the time of purchase. Unfortunately due to technical limitations that we have been unable to overcome, this will not be the case. Instead, VIP players who purchase multiple month subscription plans will receive their Paragon Rewards Token each month on their billing cycle, at the same time they receive their monthly allotment of Paragon Points. Please note that Paragon Reward Tokens granted by the purchase of Paragon Points will grant at the time of purchase.

We do sincerely apologize that we were not able to launch Issue 21 with this feature and will continue to endeavor to implement it in the future.

Aw, that's a shame. Was a good bone to throw to the people having multi month subscriptions. Hope you get it working again soon.

Just as well for me. I did some prodigious swearing when I saw that my 12-month auto-rebill had happened on August 29, instead of 3 weeks later when I would have theoretically gotten enough points to put me through Tier 9 shortly after launch.

Does the current build on Beta reflect this? IE, can I check in and see what my VIP status is?


Still despising how the rewards are being meted out, but whatever.

This was the only reason I switched to a multimonth plan. Guess I'll be switching back.

Disappointment ..

I have two accounts one at 7yrs and second 4yrs. I was planning shortly after launch of update to put the second account onto a year plan instead of every three months so as to get enough tokens to complete tier 8. I guess this will have to wait until a way is found to implement the rewards as previously described.

Celtic Fist - Victory

Extremely disappointing. Since character customization is a high priority for me, and I will now be locked out of the VIP costume sets for several years, I will have to give some serious thought as to whether I will continue my subscription.

I'm disappointed, but since it's still better than the once/quarter reward schedule, I can live with it.

I guess my question is this - will we have earned any Reward Tokens right away? I know we started getting Paragon Points in July, but did we start earning Reward tokens then too?

Since my next billing cycle isn't until the beginning of October, it would be nice to know I don't have to wait three weeks before receiving any tokens.

Honestly, I prefer them being given out over time rather than in huge bursts. Especially if we're going to have quarterly rotating content -- I don't want to be caught without tokens when something comes around that I think I'd like.

I didn't know that they were considering burst tokens before. I'm glad it got the axe. And I'm still paying less for my VIP than most, so hey, score.

I honestly thought we only got our rewards each month already. I suppose that's why I'm not as disappointed as other people are.

Subscription canceled. Fortunately I still have almost 2 months of time left so I can try out Freedom and see if this policy changes. If this gets resolved favorably I will surely renew for a full year.

Sort of dropping the ball on that "we care more about our veterans than potential new subscribers," bit.

Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.

So that'll be two years before I can get to the first VIP reward. Hope this gets fixed soon because, well, I can't afford to keep a subscription going as well as buying enough points to get closer to tier 9.

So will there be another way to get celestial armor since we can no longer get the tokens in advance? I really hope you guys put it in the store for 400 points like the other costume sets.
