Technically this is almost a week old, but I'm a little surprised nobody posted a link before now!

Reminds me I really should get the collection of that series.

Too many alts to list.

Great list, although I would have had a different one in there, the one with the kids talking about Batman and we get the animated version of Dark Knight Returns in there

We built this city on Rock and Roll!

Hmmm...I might of had the episode with Clayface's "daughter" but over all not a bad list.

Me too. That series is apparently more complex than I remember, and I need to watch it again.

Goodbye, I guess.

I can remember back in grad school my roommate and I would catch every episode in the afternoons (along with Animaniacs). I was a comic book geek, so I had that excuse, but he just watched it because it was good TV.

I was a kid when it started, so my only concern at the time was "Batman! YAAAY!" Although I do attribute some of my love of art deco to B:TAS.

I can't check out the list yet (I'm at work), but one of my favorites hardly had any appearance by Batman:

Ra's Al Ghul was in Gotham for some reason, so Batman and Robin were racing to catch him in the act of whatever he was doing. They track him to the Gotham airport where he's getting ready to board a plane with someone he checked out of Arkham Asylum.

Ra's then recounts a story from the past where he encountered an aging bounty hunter by the name of Jonah Hex.

It's a great tale written by the one and only Joe R. Lansdale (Jonah Hex: Two Gun Mojo).

I won't spoil the ending, but it's awesome, if you haven't seen it.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

Some of my favorites:

1. the episode that brought in Talia and introduced Rha's Al Ghul at the end.

2. The Laughing Fish

3. The episode with the kids talking about Batman and we get a nice 60's style episode followed by the DARK KNIGHT RETURNS scene with the bat-tank and the fight with the mutant leader. Also a nice rip on Joel Schumaker was in it that ep.

4. Batman/Superman: World's Finest

5. first episode with the Scarecrow

6. both episodes with the Clock King

7. the two episodes where Batman faced his former fellow student that went ninja.

8. the first appearance of Mr. Freeze, one can't help but feel some sympathy for the guy, even if he no longer has emotions

9. The Riddler episodes, especially the one where Batman told Riddler that Riddler was unable to stop himself.

10. The episode where Harley captured Batman and had him hanging over the piranaha tank. Joker's reaction was priceless.

11. The episode where Jason Blood/Etrigan guest starred. Batman and magic can be fun

12. The episode with the Creeper. Imagine Joker being freaked out by someone's loony behavior.

Some of the episodes I would've put on that list (in no particular order):

  • See No Evil: A small-time crook gets ahold of an invisibility suit and uses it to commit robberies around Gotham. We find out he has a young daughter from his ex-wife; he intends to steal her back, and use the money so that both of them can live comfortably.
  • Tyger, Tyger: A twist on "The Island of Dr. Moreau," a mad scientist kidnaps Catwoman and takes her to his island filled with his genetic experiments. The real focus of this episode is the character Tygrus, one of the experiments, and his relationship with his "father," the scientist.
  • Growing Pains: Aka 'The Annie episode.' Robin meets a girl with no memories, and they find that Clayface is chasing her for some reason. The ending to this episode is one of the most powerful in BTAS.
  • His Silicon Soul: My favorite Batman episode. One of the HARDAC robots from an earlier episode was programmed to replicate Batman/Bruce Wayne in every way, yet he doesn't know that he's a machine.

I've yet to see this entire series...I've seen every other DCAU series... this one just gives me too many problems when I try to watch it, either bad streams or costs waaaay too much.

My favorite episode of what I've seen though is the Harley episode where she tries to reform.

The animated series is the reason I love Batman.

"Harley's Holiday"? Yeah, that's a fun one.

"What are you doing?!? That's my father!"
"Noooooo... that's your father IN A TANK!!!"

Funny fact: both that ep and the Penguin ep the Critic has on his list have Veronica Vreeland getting involved with one of Batman's rogues trying to turn over a new leaf after being released from prison.

Excellent choices.

Also that cloaking tech from See No Evil I suspect it was the basis for the cloaking tech in the Batman Beyond suit.

Same with the optical tech that Bruce used when he was blinded so that he could "see" and then go stop the Penguin.

How about favorite Batman Beyond episodes:

1. the two part premier that showed why Bruce retired (usage of the gun, not the heart problem) and how he had lived for all the years until Terry came along. Also the creation of Blight.

2. Meltdown: a touching episode/finale for Mr. Freeze. Had they not betrayed him.....also just because he reverted doesn't mean Powers would have, especially if that had some of Power's DNA from before he was "blighted".

3. the episode where Inque escaped and Bruce put on the exo armor to fight her.

4. End of Season 1: the showdown between Terry and Blight: "Who ARE you?" "You killed my father!" "Do you have the slightest idea how LITTLE that narrows it down?"

5. the episode that debuted the Stalker and his hunt for Batman

6. the season 3 episode that dealt with Talia and Rha's Al Ghul. Not sure I agree with Bruce's reasoning for not using the pit and starting over, but it's his choice.

7. the episode Chimera

8. The two part episode: The Call that gave us the Justice League, plus the end of part one was rather dramatic as Bruce gives Terry the kryptonite and tells him to stop Superman at all costs.

9. the movie; Return of the Joker

10. The JLU episode: Epilogue that revealed that not at all surprising secret about Terry's lineage.

I believe that's the name of it...I like them exploring the characters and their reactions outside of criminal work... I especially like this episode because Harley's so innocent and it explores the concept of innocence being at the discretion of the perspective of who you are interacting with.

Great list, happy to see that "Almost Got 'im" get the number one spot. Was expecting to see the episode in this list, and was surprised to see it get number one. Agree with most of the choices except for '"The Edge" probably because of the cop out ending.

Here's a list of other favorite episodes that I would put in a runner-up list

Paging the Crime Doctor

A Bullet for Bullock

Harlequinade

Showdown

Harley's Holiday

Beware the Creeper

I loved BtAS - I pretty much agree with all of those, although Clayface was my personal favorite villain and I really enjoyed all of the episodes featuring him in it.

Not sure if I've seen #1, I know I haven't seen #3, but the other two are definitely great.

"His Silicon Soul" is kinda sad.

I love that one, but I've always felt it was a shame that they never brought back Tygrus. It seems wrong that they would just abandon him, there should have been more story to tell. Even if it had waited until JLU, he should have gotten a better ending.

It was a noble gesture when he gave Selina the antidote to restore her. Still what else could be done except somehow have Tygrus be the progenitor of a new race?
