The worst thing about Freedom is the name. Once again, I thought something was going to be about the server and it ended up being about the upcoming release.

Watch for it next week, Paragon Studios announces a new pvp-only powerset where you get stronger with each unique kill in pvp zones. The freedom issue is probably the biggest issue not only in content but UI improvements, graphical improvements, and changing the way the game is played by making it free. Its kind of funny, the more i know the weirder it feels to log into the game proper, its like this before every issue, the realized "now" becomes the imperfect substitute for the hinted potential. all i know is that once freedom hits with those new powers, i'm gonna alt like a motherpancaker. and new costume slots, im already saving files for actualization. now lets see what costume-y goodness awaits. i'm actually working a good bit more overtime just to pad the elasticity of my entertainment budget.

I want the days when paying a subscription gave you all of the content the game had since before you started paying it and all the content developed since.

But since I can't have that it'll be nice to pick up those few costume pieces from booster packs without having to shell out $10 for each one.


Microtransactions have destroyed, or are in the process of destroying, every game I've liked where they've shown up. It'll be interesting to see if the trend will continue.

Hmmmm maybe that is what the Titan Weapon is supposed to be.

Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!

Freedom did convince me to pay for another month and try the game out again.

I don't think it's a trend. The games where microtransactions have caused the most destruction are the ones where the developers have modified the game to maximize the amount of money they make. When they lower xp and drops and then sell you temp "xp boost" and rare items in the cash shop to make up for it; it's like another set of taxes.

I think the drive in Freedom is to make subscribing more than worth your money. Why else would they be giving subscribers $5.00 in paragon points + a free char transfer (worth $10.00 in PP) + a subscriber reward token every month?
