I think one of my minor pet peeves of the game is that a number of NPCs look like they were homeless and/or strung out on drugs, or some such thing. I made her look more professional and kept the color scheme as close as I could with a quickie pass over. We only have three older faces so it's near impossible to go that direction. I at least didn't give her a more youthful haircut. I probably could go back and add in a grey blend into her hair though. The makeover is significant as is, but I did try to keep it within reason.

My take on Azuria. (She has to have blue. She is Azuria (AZURE-ia), after all.) She is a non-powered or retired-hero city employee, at work at her city job, and thus with wardrobe restrictions. No hippie sandals here, sorry Johnny.

I also stunted her legs. The human body is approximately one-third torso and two-thirds leg (ignoring neck/head). The way she is currently (on Live) proportioned, she is one-quarter torso and three-quarters leg, and she looks ridiculous. In fact, most females out there in-game, both NPC and PC, are equally ridiculously leggy, and it kind of mangles my immersion when I see it.

Yeah, that's definitely better, though the shoes you're using are quite low-res. You may want to consider using the Strappy ones, or go for just high-heel boots. Or even just regular Smooth boots.

I kind of expect her to be more old-fashioned, though. Actually, the Steampunk pieces - especially Victorian - might be just what's needed here. Not that the Fortune Teller you rescue looks like one, though

Actually, one of the things that bugs me is that there isn't an exact mention of her age. I'd assume she's a little old fashioned in some regards but she could be any number of age ranges and it still make sense. Also, she could wind up in the category of "older than they look" due to magic.

Possibly. She doesn't have to be a wrinkled old granny to show "old age," though. As you mentioned, old-fashioned, even if slightly, would still be telling. After all, if you've lived through several generations, chances are the latest generation's things may not always be your favourites.

I took a stab at Azuria too, just for fun. I tend to prefer exaggerated looks on characters in general to draw attention to some aspect of their personality and make them memorable and easy to spot in a room. I think these images are a little extreme, but if nothing else someone might get some ideas from them for a different character. Perhaps Katie Hannon. [I'm not posting the costume codes unless requested since these are doodles. Mostly because I'm not really sure how.]

Ok here's my shot at it.


I like Agge's idea that she's at work and needs to look like it, but since I figured she's also dealing with putting things into the vault all the time, she's on her feet a lot and should be wearing flats.

I also added the Runes aura to her head because I think she should have something clearly mystical about her.

This looks good. It is an improvement. Make sure you include the costuem code with this suggestion.

I dont understand why they keeping the old ugly low-res model of the City representative. I bet they doing the same with Azuria if she is still around.
Please devs, if you are working so hard to make an old zone look beatiful, do the same with those ultra ugly NPCs.
Maybe replace all the old citizens for new ones like Praetoria had (Where everytime is more common to see the old citizens again, and the new ones are missing ) is too much work, but some of the important NPCs and contacts deserve actual models that doesnt hurt our eyes, please!

It cant be that difficult to make new models for some of them, like Azuria, City representative, SG registrer... I mean, we see them all time, please upgrade them!
Also, Azuria could, you know, look like a sorcerer instead a tanned Brittany Murhphy:

I'd love to see the other contacts better represent their branches in terms of appearance. It always bugs me that so many contacts in CoH are people in flannel and jeans.

If you give Azuria new clothes, she'll just misplace them and there will be a whole mission chain devoted to finding those artifacts and returning them to her.

She's so irresponsible.

I'd make her an office worker but give her a version of either the runes aura from the origins pack or the victorian decor from the steampunk pack colored for subtlety.

I'm digging the office-professional look for both of them, especially the mystic-office-professional spin on Azuria.

This came to the forefront of our attention because of what is being (not) done in Atlas. It's only slightly less (by one year) egregious in Mercy. Those contacts should be shown the same love and attention.

I would even go so far as to say, "Dear Devs, let us help you with this..."

I mean, look at Dr. Science. LOOK AT HIM:



Imagine what we could do with the new Science costume boosters. At the very least, the man who assisted the Alpha and Omega teams with the assault on the Rikti Homeworld could /em calculate every once in a while...

The game is going F2P with a pay-structure. Use the NPCs to advertise this! Considering Dr. Science's work with the Vanguard, give him a Mini HVAS. I bet those will be for sale, too.

A few thoughts:

I wonder just how much of wardrobe restriction they would have. While they work for the city, they exist in a world of superheroes. It could be argued that a little bit of embellishment might make sense.

I wonder if trying too hard to match the suit and tie look will remove some of the individuality of the contacts. One of the compliments leveraged towards redside is that the contacts are generally very memorable.
