I like that the NPC's are just normal humans. They're meant to be the Jimmy Olsen/Jim Gordan to our Batman/Superman. I'd say update the models, but keep the designs.

There's average and then there's stick-figures. Smeared makeup and ratty cloths looks like most of the citizens are homeless.

Just wanted to chime in that I thought this new Azuria from the first post(since it looks like there was originally another remake version there) was a pretty awesomely done and would not be opposed to an upgrade like that.

Partly it's the angle.

I wasn't going for an exact match on the hair color (which on the original is this unwashed brown mess). Instead I was angling for something more in the "black, without being BLACK" way of a color scheme. If you look at the color picks in the costume code I included, you'll actually see that the exact dual colors I chose were darkest azure blue and darkest purple (or was it pink?). Basically, take the colors of her top and skirt, slam them all the way over to dark on the color picker and use those. Ironically, this gives her hair a much more lustrous blue-black look that is way more awesome up close. Feel free to load my costume file code into your own game client and have a look in the costume editor, since the screenshot really doesn't do her justice.

The hair style was pretty much intended to be either exactly like, or as close as you can get to it with PC hairstyles, as what you see on Azuria's legacy character model. I wouldn't be surprised if she uses a unique hairstyle that's simply not available to characters. I just used Long 1 for hairstyle, since that seemed to be the closest match to the legacy Azuria.

As for the face ... I used Face 14, with eyeshadow (Makeup 5). I wasn't going to spend all night futzing around trying to get it *exactly* right ... and I honestly doubt that any of the faces we have access to quite manage to have that "trashed out heroin(e) junkie" look to them with dark circles under the eyes and so on. I could have spent HOURS mucking around with the head size sliders trying to get an exact match ... but I found *SLEEP* to be a more compelling argument and just did something simple. I honestly don't think any of the other faces we could choose will ever "match" the legacy Azuria, so I settled for "good enough" rather than eternally striving for the "perfect" in this case. The shape of the eyebrows makes a rather dramatic difference between the original and my proposal.

My only regret with my Azuria is that I couldn't give her some sort of necklace, preferably with an arcane thematic styling to it of some sort.

The thing that I like most about "my" Azuria is that I take one look at her and immediately think, "this woman is competent ... and awake!" When I look at the legacy Azuria, the thought that runs through my mind is, "didn't I just arrest you for dumpster diving in the Downside neighborhood?"


It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

I wouldn't mind Azuria getting a unique face and a unique costume bit or two. The problem with all the suggestions so far is that each one makes her a little to put together, too attractive IMO.

Isn't she supposed to be the Professor Trelawney of the CoH multiverse? At least she behaves that way. In that spirit, she should be mildly dumpy and disheveled--and not just in posture.

Edit: In fact, they could introduce new "mobile contact" tech with Azuria in particular and have her roam about her office occasionally mumbling "Now where did I put that..."

They should have a contest to let players remake the contacts. It would save them the trouble of doing it themselves and it would be cool for players to have the opportunity to add something official to the game.

Just like I always thought it would be neat to have the in-game movie theaters (which have been playing one film for about 6 years) show random short fan-made "films".

I figured I should give that a shot, as well. Here's what I have:



I didn't worry about sticking to the model too close, because Azuria's model is not unique to her, or at least not very much so. She's a generic civilian grabbed out of a pool of generic civilians, so her look is not distinct or signature. What I tried to achieve with the look, instead, was sort of a reinterpretation of WHO she is, rather than what she looks like.

I chose to stick to a blue theme because of the name, true, but everything else is custom. I picked a dark blue because I wanted a more subdued, less showy overall look, that of someone defined more by wisdom and knowledge than by anime extravagance and the power of youth. However, I still wanted to throw in something brighter in there to have some contrast, hence the white undershirt and boots. The robe itself I picked just because it looked eccentric and somewhat mysterious, and I think it went well with the skirt. It's supposed to look obviously weird, but not weird enough to be a point. Just a thing.

I think the face, though, is the most crucial part. There are very few ways to depict supernatural power power and knowledge without resorting to off-the-wall outfits or outright auras, and picking strikingly unusual eyes is often the way to go. Large odd-coloured pupil-less eyes are typically seen as unsettling by most people, and that's precisely what I wanted to carry across. This is a woman you go to speak with, and though she doesn't look all THAT unusual, she is still unnerving because it's like she can see right through you. There are a few faces like that, but this one I think has the best eyes.

Antonio Nash, the mutation origin contact, was a member of the Outcasts when growing up and has the amazing power of solving math equations fast. So I gave him a more street-ready look to push the mispent youth angle, along with binary eye aura (it looks really cool close up in red) and the calculation emote to demonstrate visually his awesome super power. And of course the DNA logo helps show his current job while still pushing the Outcast look since they often have t-shirt logos.
