Dev Chat Highlights, July 20: Paragon Rewards
Black Pebble said that if the Booster was attached to a specific function IO such as the Luck of the Gambler speed increase, it would treat it as though the character had two such enhancements slotted instead of just one.

I'd have to ask if that is also true for proc enhancements, as slapping it onto a purple's proc would be insane.
Do I have to unlock everything again, pick and choose what I want and save tokens?
I am getting 27 tokens, where do I stand?
Is the video on ustream only?

I think Black Pebble was probably wrong about Enhancement Boosters. (Shouldn't have used LOTG Recharge as an example; it's one of the most powerful enh in the game.)
They specifically described it as being similar to how you can combine two SOs now, to get SO +1. Let's say you had a Damage (25) slotted, and combined it with another Damage (25), you'd end up with Damage (25+) which is like Damage (26).
So, let's say you used this on your Red Fortune: Defense (30). After, it would become a Red Fortune: Defense (30+), which is basically (31).
That's not a HUGE bonus, it's not "multiplied by five" or "like two of them at once". it's just a +1 level to the slotted IO.

This is looking good to me. I'm very pleased.

Shadow, we have been told we won't have to unlock anything again. However I am in the same "token" (27.5 if my math is right) boat as you and unsure where I am going to be on the chart.
Someone who has a better grip on this please help us out?

Gotta say, this new Rewards program? I was already happy about. These specifics? That much more awesome.
But, as a point of clarification - This says you can start with up to 29 tokens. But by using this formula: N/3+((N/3)/4)=Reward Tokens, it says I should end up with 36 Reward tokens by the time this launches (87 month vet badge, if you want the variable). Does this mean that I will only get 29 tokens when this launches, instead of the full 36? Or is the 29 tokens the amount spent to start unlocking Tier 9, with 34 tokens needed to fully unlock Tier 9? Beyond that small wording issue, I see nothing but greatness in this ustream overview. Edit: Misread the VIP aspect of the Rewards. Modified post accordingly. |

What would a 2 year vet have? My head is wonky in calculating that stuff.

8+(8/4)
8+(2)
10 Tokens.
Which, from the pictures looks like a 24 month vet would be Tier 5. Ie. MMs & Controllers unlocked, at a guess.
That should be 35 tokens, which would place it at Tier 9.

Assuming it isn't released before October I'll earn my 3 year badge and have 15 tokens I think.
I see 34 white blocks in the first 8 tiers so I assume it costs one Reward Token to open each block. That would explain the comment about 34 tokens to open Tier 9 vet awards. So are those 15 tokens to re-buy my way up the ladder or are they in addition to my already earned rewards? If in addition I could work my way well into Tier 8, if not it'll be 1 reward shy of what I already have. Of course if I'm earning 1/month I'll have Tier 8 open soon enough either way.
The part that confused the heck out of me was why they keep mentioning Paragon Points in a discussion about Paragon Rewards aside from the ability to buy your way to the top? Are dual/team inspirations something you buy with tokens or points or both? I can only assume you buy the right to buy them with tokens then actually buy them with points... but I'm too confused at the moment to know for sure.

Consumables for veteran rewards kind of bug me, and I have a sneaking suspicion they'll be selling a LOT of those for real money...
The energy and fixed wings are very cool, though. Definitely something I want to look into. Once upon a time I had a few ideas for characters with energy wings, but I've long since forgotten since I didn't think it would happen. Glad to see it will, but I'll need to think about this.
Cool stuff all around.

ok, 27.5 puts me at tier 7?
smurf it I hate math...
What's this about the huge avatars... and body types being unlocked?
Are we getting a new style body bigger then the current huge, or are new players not able to make a Big Guy...

I love the look of the energy wings... but there is no way in hell that I am going to pay for them.
Love the game but I am not going down that route. Whatever my free points give me is the extent of my purchasing power.
66 month vet... doesn't get me anything new just what I have? So lost, could have been worded user friendly not dev friendly!
I also doubt that the IO booster is going to work the way mentioned...Can I put 6 of them into my Lockdown:Chance for Mag 2 Hold that is slotted into Volcanic Gasses?

My parents aren't going to be happy with me if I spend too much. Wish we had a page that showed an approximate price.

Q: We’ve been told that all VIP players will receive 400 Paragon Points per month as part of their subscription. What exactly does this mean?

I expect that things like the dual/team inspirations, XP boosts, etc will not only be in the rewards program, but also in-store.
Other things will likely be gated exclusively through rewards (Celestial Costumes), but access to MMs/Controllers might be purchasable directly.

$15.00 = 1 point... takes 34 to unlock tier 9...
N/3+((N/3)/4) =x current number of tokens (where n is your highest vet badge number and x is your starting token number)
34-x=y y*15= money spent to get tier 9 on day one...
my badges as example
66/3+(66/3)(/4)=27.5
34-27=7*15 =$105 spent on day one for me to have tier 9 VIP access..
or I could wait 7 months since I get a token a month...

By the way, did anyone else hear the new music they used for the video intros?
Like this one uses a revamped Atlas fanfare:

It sounds "fuller" than the current one, and then moves into something totally new with strings.

66 months vet is 27 tokens. 27 tokens under the actual system makes you a 81 months vet. So if Freedom would go live presently, you would make a big jump in the veteran rewards. And after that, you go up the veteran rewards tree each month, not every 3 months. So you will get to the tier9 sooner than you think.
