So, about this new-fangled Time Manipulation set.

My insomniac self was lying in bed the other day and my insomniac self started thinking about what powers would likely be in the new Time Manipulation set.

I could only think of a few that could be explained away using time as a theme.

1. A recharge boosting power, thought being that the hero speeds up time around his teammates

2. A defense boost, the hero speeds up the perception of his teammates allowing them to dodge attacks easier (the opposite could be the way a slow debuff would work)

I have a bunch of other ideas but they're all hard control and that's not what primary/secondary sets for Controllers, Corrupters, and Defenders do.

I think it was mentioned that Time Manipulation would also buff/debuff other buff/debuffs. The only thing I can imagine is the it could make buffs last longer and debuff effects shorter.

Healing & Resurrection: rewinding time to erase the injury.

Summoning: You summon past, future, or alternate timeline versions of yourself.

Redshift: By drastically slowing down time near you, you also "stretch out" the energy input over time of any attacks against you, diminishing their force.

Temporal Shift: You shift the target forward in time causing age and decay, weakening them. This shift is unstable however and they will soon return to normal. A debuff.

Temporal Shield: You project a field that diverts attacks into the nearby past or future, where it is less likely the protected person will be in the same spot to be struck by them. Adds Defense.

1) Quick Healing - Clickie AOE Heal (20ft Radius otherwise equal to Healing Aura)

1) Time Bubble - Toggle (20ft Radius, 25% +RCH/+SPD, 25% Slow Resist)

2) Slow Crawl - Targeted AOE Debuff (-90% Run/Jump Height/Jump Speed/Fly, -5 to Max Run Speed, -50% RCH. -10% Defense 20ft Radius)

6) Temporal Mastery - Toggle (20ft Radius +7.5 - 10% Positional Defense, NO Typed Defense, 60% Slow Resist, 20% S/L/Energy or Psi Resist with Stealth Component...OR instead of Damage Resists, Hold/Immobilize/Disorient Mez Protection...Stealth Component added on with the Mez Protection MAYBE. Basically something in the vein of Shadowfall, Arctic Fog, Steamy Mist, or a smaller Dispersion Bubble)

8) Time Jump - Clickie (A combination of Phase Shift + Fly, duration of 15-20 seconds on Phase + Fly Time, with a 5 second Hover Speed, 1 second Recharge of Power doesn't stack. This is essentially a Travel Power)

12) Temporal Disruption - Toggle (Single Target, -300% Regen, -15% Recovery, -50% Spd/RCH - SPECIAL All Other Debuffs on Target are magnified/enhanced)

18) Temporal Breakdown - Toggle (20ft AOE, -20% DMG, -20% RES, pretty similar to Enervating Field, but slightly larger AOE to keep with the Time Bubbles being a 20ft area)

26) Temporal Empowerment - Clickie (PBAOE 20ft Radius, +10% Positional Defense, +50% Regen, +25% RCH, 25% Slow Resist, +Perception SPECIAL All Other buffs on targets are magnified/enhanced...2minute duration with 6minute Recharge...recharge is a fixed rate.)

32) Rewind Time - PBAOE Rez (Useable on defeat only, rezs you and everyone within a 20ft Radius - 15second untouchable phase)


Here's what I was thinking for the set, with a few changes after talking to a SG member.

really, I want more of a useful for solo like Dark Miasma, than a buff only for allies type of set.

Out of Sync or Sync Shift - by altering an enemy's perceptions, you mess up their reaction to events, resulting in an accuracy debuff and/or defense debuff.

I don't think we're going to see positional defense without typed along with it. Sure it may not make the most sense, but considering they went back through and added the missing defenses to various powers/IO sets/etc to balance typed/positional I doubt they'd go and mess that up now.

In my silly little folder of dreamed up powersets (nearly 30 sets, and 5 ATs so far, yes I spend way too much time pondering such things) I have this under the title Temporal Regulation:


1) Flashback: PBAoE Heal (Standard clone of Healing Aura.)

2) Rewind: Single target Heal +HoT (Slightly smaller initial heal than Heal Other followed by roughly a equal Heal over Time. Lower end cost, longer recharge.)

3) Deceleration Field: Location AoE -Speed -Recharge (Quicksand clone with -Recharge replacing QS's -Defense)

4) Future Sight: PBAoE Toggle Foe -ToHit -Defense, Team +ToHit +Defense [all] (Single non-stacking Def/Hit bonus, NOT a bonus per mob affected like powers such as Invincibility. Defense bonus about 1/2 Dispersion Bubble, no mez prot.)

5) Rapid Decay: Target AoE -Regen -Recharge -Recovery -Resist (Roughly equivalent to Lingering Radiation/Melt Armor)

6) Reversal: Point Blank AoE +Heal over Time +End over Time (Short duration [30sec-ish] with a very long recharge)

7) Temporal Isolation: Single Target cage (Copy>Paste Detention Field)

8) Acceleration: Point Blank AoE +Speed +Recharge +Defense [all] (Short duration [30sec] burst of effectiveness/survivability on a long recharge.)

9) Total Restoration: post defeat Point Blank AoE Rez (basically a full team reset button)

As a low level toon, I'd be totally annoyed if my lvl 50 self decided to pull me into the future to help with the likes of say Lord Recluse. After something like that I think my lvl 50 self would get a nasty gram in the mail postmarked several years earlier.

If that happens it'd be epic beyond words.

Heck, if they just named a single power Time Warp I'd be happy, with an effect that gets stronger everytime you use the power again.

And with that...

I'm also now thinking that 'Jump to the Left' (a quick jump/thrust type maneuver... a 'bowling' power, so to speak) and 'Step to the Right' (a displacement, quick-teleport thing, defense type of power, the wake of which also produces an AoE Knockdown for all nearby foes.) might be cool, as well as possibly a "Pelvic Thrust" power that does... uh... I dunno, but I want it just to say I got it.

Doesn't bother me, whichever I create will almost certainly be villains... which I guess (continuing the bad pun) is considered a 'full time' vllain

I'd like an Emergency Temporal Shift power which teleports you to safety in times of EXTREEEME danger.

But it must come with the Dalek voice announcing it

Time Warp: PBAoE ally heal (10%), +regen (200% 20 seconds), +recharge (10% 20 seconds), enemy -speed, -regen. 10 second recharge, self -recovery (25% 30 seconds, stacking), 20 endurance.

Use it a lot for constant stacking buffs/heals and debuffs at the cost of increasing amounts of endurance and -recov.

You know it makes sense.
