Two-handed weapon set

Massively spills the beans!

"One of the really cool elements that was shown off was something I inadvertently alluded to a few weeks back: two-handed melee weapons. It turns out that isn't coming in a Super Booster but in the new store. It also promises to change the dynamic of the weapon sets to reward a slightly different playstyle, emphasizing repeated weapon strikes in quick succession. Interesting stuff, to be sure, although I was told that it won't quite be ready for the store's launch. But hey, you have to leave something for further on down the line."

Good for you. It was buried in a few threads but something this promising should have it's own thread. Kudos.

What's weird is that it's an emphasis on quick strikes which I assume less damage. Most games handle two handed wielding as higher damage per hit.

Currently on Virtue:

IMO, this reinforces speculation that it will be a staff style set as opposed to two-handed-giganto-anime weapons.

Something about a bo-staff stalker intrigues me.

From the phrasing, I'd guess it's got the combo system like Dual Blades.

As long as there are a couple lance/spear options too, I'll be happy with it.

What's the command string to post in font size 9,000 again?

Woohoo!

Well, BaBs did say before he left the company that they were beginning work on a poleweapon powerset. It's nice to know that we'll probably have it within the next year.

I'm hoping they make the animations broad enough to work with multiple weapon types, including scythes and poleaxes.

A naginata to go with the existing samurai armor would be welcome.

Cool. It'll probably only cost 400 points to unlock.

Be well, people of CoH.

Given that I might end up with 48000 points come july first, that doesn't seem like such a bad thing.

Did you read something somewhere that stated paragon points were going to be granted for total paid time rather than starting at 400 for July and another 400 per month after that?

For a moment I thought it was 2 weapons you hold in both hands, so I was like "ok." Then I realized it was a one weapon that you hold with both hands, alluding to a staff-like weapon, then I was like "Awesome".

I hope you are right about that. One month's stipend seems suitable.

huh, I thought I read a post by Zwil saying that the paragon points will also be semi-retroactive if you had a subscription for longer than a month by july 1st. must have mistaken that.

You may not be. Maybe I'm the one that missed something. I'd love to hit F2P go live with 28800 points. I don't see it happening though.

Indeed.
Been wanting a staff type weapon set for a very long time.
So many concepts.

Paragon Points will start accumulating on July 1st, 400 per month. There will not be retroactive Paragon Points.

There's been some confusion between the Paragon Points and the Paragon Reward Tokens (effectively, Veteran Reward Tokens)--players are using them in conversation as if they were the same thing. I think the latter are going to be somewhat retroactive, not the Paragon Points which you use in the store.

I could, of course, be wrong. We're all going off our own interpretations of pretty meager info on this subject.

No, I'm fairly sure you're right. They're making the paragon reward credit retroactive (the stand-in/upgrade of the vet reward program). The paragon points start next month. It's only slightly confusing.

I'm rather hoping other power sets included in I21 (possibly only two-handed weapons) will be included for VIPs though myself and that they just haven't released the full features list.
