The Steampunk Pack is Now Available on the Training Room!
This pack is... well... packed. I shall look forward to giving you my monies.

Some of this stuff is cool. I like the belts, skirts, chest details, and jackets. However, two things:
Why are these curls only available with a hat? I would really like to have these curls on a standard hairstyle for a regular top. I saw them in the video and immediately wanted them for some characters. But they're only available with the very theme-specific hat. Please make these curls a stand-alone hairstyle without the hat.
This face style comes with its own lipstick stock, which makes it really stupid looking when you try to add your own makeup. Can you remove the makeup so we can do it ourselves?
Also:
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

So, it seems the new "beautification tonic" is really just the new 4 new face skins? I'm almost hoping they won't look super-better, or everyone will start using the same faces
Steam Jump Travel Power
Harness the furious power and speed of steam to rocket through the air. Steam Jump is a new travel power that is available at Level 4. Steam Jump cannot be slotted. |
It's superior to /em Flypose2.
Also, with the 30 second recharge, it kicks GvE Jump Pack's butt.
:\
.
I just logged in to both of the beta world servers that are up and no Steam punk stuff avalable am I doing something wrong?
Definitely a great pack. As mentioned in another thread though, would it be possible to make the rocket pack attached to the Steam Jump power available as a permanent costume piece as well?
Can ya'll post more pictures? I'm stuck at school all day today >.<
Also, are we ever going to be able to customize hair with hats? I love the classic top hats we have, but hate how short it makes my female characters' hair.

Just a few quick things I noted while looking at the costumes and aura:
1) Victorian Steampunk hat 01 (male) has a large gap underneath the goggles in the front that goes all the way to the brim. You can see the head (and hair) underneath the hat through the hole. Classic Steampunk does not have the hole.
2) If you pick Classic Steampunk sleeves, you cannot get the colors to match the shirt underneath the vest. In some cases, the colors are way off.
3) The bow tie on the classic shirt is nice, but you can't make it go away if you'd rather have something else. The usual neck options are layered underneath the bow tie when you select them. Could we have an option without the tie, so something else could be put there instead?
4) If you have long sleeves, the straps and buckles of the steampunk gloves clip through the sleeves. Looks bad.
5) You can only pick one color for the Clunker aura, so if you'd like brass gears and springs flying off, you have to have a light-colored oil. There should be a secondary color for the oil if you have the trail + body part option selected.
I really liked the costume emotes, as well as the other emotes, and the steam jet travel power is very nice. Note that it kicks off at 30 seconds no matter if you're just hopping around in small jumps or taking one long jump.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
Let me join the legions of people who are disappointed that the Jacket options aren't offered to female characters. Come on, Paragon, didn't you take enough grief over this with the Magic pack? I thought the Science pack showed that you'd learned your lesson here.
I'm mildly disappointed that there isn't a Victorian Steampunk Hat option as a Hair style or Hat style for female characters -- here in the midwest, that tiny little cocked hat is de rigeur almost-mandatory for lady steampunks.
I'll log in in a few minutes and check, but I'll be deeply disappointed if the vests aren't available under Sleeveless Jackets, as well -- I can't be the only one thinking of using that option and some striped pants with the existing big bulky "Steam" gloves.
Some suggestions--all code based as opposed to new artwork or animations:
- The two Female Bolero tops should be available in the Jackets without Sleeves
- The Female laced neck choker should be available in Masks With Hair and Full Masks
- The Sleeves from the Female Boleros would make a fine addition to the Shirts section
- The Steam Jump back detail should also be available under Backpacks as a persistent tintable costume item that animates similarly to rocket boots when Fly is turned on
As is, the pack is great. Very pleased with the costume change emotes and the range of use I'm able to get out of the clunker path aura and the drips. But all of the above suggestions--which I imagine are more a matter of database switches--would make it that much more versatile. Really hoping that the rocket pack can be made persistent.

It recharges in 30s, unlike the GvE pack which recharges in 2m30s. So it's significantly better.
Considering it doesn't add any horizontal movement speed though, I tend to agree it could be a stand-alone travel power without even needing to toggle off at all. Though the devs might be worried about it stacking with things like Ninja Run and invalidating Super Jump or something.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

The 30 second kick-off does let it join the GvE jumper as a Suicide Pack(t). Can you jump high enough in 30 seconds to be reduced to 1 HP on landing? Heh.
Of course, with both it and the GvE pack, you can cycle and get 90 seconds of jump before having to do any cooldown.

Well, the mediocre travel power aside, the costume pieces are magnificent. So much so that I will definitely be buying this one.
Backpacks, DO WANT MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE
Though a more normal hiking-type or military-type backpack would be nice, really.
Victorian Decor Aura, DO WANT MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE
This "Decor Aura" technique has so much potential, runes, tech, veins, the possibilities are boggling.
The "oil effect" from the Clunker Aura also has a lot of potential, though I can't see it for any of my current characters...
The costume Change emotes could find a bit of use on my character concepts as well. Oil Strike could work nicely with a lot of Dark or Demonic themed characters...
Not to mention the victorian dress options and the male vest options. Just... Too... Classy!
All in all, great job on this!
All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.
All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.
But memories remain, And that is beautiful.
2) If you pick Classic Steampunk sleeves, you cannot get the colors to match the shirt underneath the vest. In some cases, the colors are way off.

Also, I am using a Chest Detail over Classic Steampunk 01 jacket - the logo is tearing on the right side every time the toon "inhales".
However - so far, this is a really cool looking pack. The emotes are pretty sweet, too! I'll buy this one. It's fun.
Small bug: The Steam Jump power causes your weapons to disappear while in the air but not attacking, then reappear if you either attack while in air, or hit the ground.
Tested with an AR blaster.
Subjective feedback: Here I was thinking we'd get something we could keep running like the other booster pack travel powers. I'm also a little disappointed that it has a back detail applied while in use; I would have wanted to use it with a character with piston feet.
Other note:
Does the art team forget that we can adjust color on these pieces? The lacy choker is nice, but it has some colors baked in to the emblem on the front, which is irritating if you just want to do shades of grey. It also looks kind of odd with bright saturated colors.
Can we get one with the colors removed, or ideally, one without the emblem?
Lastly, I'd like to join in the chorus for 'gender proliferation plz'. Maybe there's a guy out there who wants a lacy choker, but the girls definitely DEFINITELY want the coats, and things not being in Sleeveless Jackets is kind of bewildering.
Edit: I would pay more money for more auras like Victorian Decor. That's gorgeous.

Hang on... slight... slight headache. Think I need to sneeze.
Aa... aaaah..... aaaah..... ACHOOO!
Sorry, rage makes me sneeze. :<
(Other than that, I'm really looking forward to this pack, and it will definitely be a day one purchase. I just want more awesome female jackets. ... And maybe the curled hair sans hat)
Just want to add my 1.375 cents...
Along with the consensus of being disappointed about the new bolero jacket not being available for females...
The males just have to get that belt buckle option as well... Seriously. I want to use an initialization that does not stand for Weekly Task Force.
Also... male's two hats... hair color... can't be changed... Not good.
I offered my feedback elsewhere, I suppose i could copy and paste it here, but for now I'll just say this:
Some really awesome and great looking stuff in this (the wings, the backpack and the auras are super fantastic and all of the artwork is very well done), but some extreme lack of customization really hurts this pack.
Still more pluses than minuses, but so much of this pack would be left to rust (get it?) for me, as I wouldn't be able to alter it to fit the character I'd use it for.

Also, for those looking for pics right away, there are some great shots in this THREAD showing off new costumes using parts of the pack!
