  1. So, it seems the new "beautification tonic" is really just the new 4 new face skins? I'm almost hoping they won't look super-better, or everyone will start using the same faces
  2. Took some of Elegost's advice to do some of my own juggling. More HP, more regen, more recovery, and a second Purple set are the results. This is my current target, though I'm still playing around with ways to get the maximum bonuses to hp, regen, recovery, recharge, and damage without giving up softcapped smashing/lethal defense.

I think, when I get my hands on the Gladiator +Defense, I'll be dropping Reactive Armor from Tough and High Pain Tolerance to put Apocalypse in Mu Bolts. I also think I'll be going with Interface Gravitic, Destiny Ageless, Judgement Ion (of course), and I have no idea on Lore

  3. The LotG sets are for the +accuracy. I HATE HATE HATE missing, it really bugs me.

Using Kinetic Combat could also let me 4 slot Chain Induction and put another End Reduction into a couple of the costlier toggles.

Spiritual seemed like the way to go, as it would boost both my offense with more Lightning Rods and +ToHit and my defense with more +Healing.

Making that change and using the slots on end redux IOs in Maneuvers and Tactics puts me over the smash/lethal softcap and drops my end consumption by .29.

Updated OP with refined build. I'll keep pushing towards the +3% PvP IO someday, but for now I'm going to go without it.
  4. Updated with suggestions in first reply. Further critique welcome.

  5. In short, I'm wondering if Musculature or Spiritual would be a better path to chase. I have a build that is near S/L softcaps, and while nigh-unkillable the main drag I have when playing him is x8 groups don't die fast enough when solo'ing and I don't seem to have as much effect on group fights as I want. I'm hoping one of these two Alphas can remedy this.
  6. paku-paku paku-paku paku-paku
  7. That's actually what I ended up doing. 5 large defense inspirations softcapped me to the AV's damage type for the duration of the fight. 5 large accuracy inspirations let me ignore her SR secondary and keep DPS'ing through Elude. 5 large damage inspirations let the fight end before I ran out of inpsirations. Spending almost 5 million Inf in Buy It Nao inspirations on a single fight, just to back up my RP claims? Totally worth it.

*edit* Oh yeah, floating around 350M this morning after finishing out almost all of three sets of Kinetic Combat and Obliteration, and picking up a LotG 25 at Buy It Nao price for my level 38 power that I got 15 minutes before the start of the RP AE event.
  8. Well the other option was to sell popcorn, but an evil flipper cornered the market on artificial butter flavoring.
  9. This is why the corollary to "bid low, have patience" is "type fast, click slow."

    anonymoose:

I find Dropbox to be a great place to store and share files on the web. You get 2gbs free, and can share as much or as little as you want with (AFAIK) unlimited downloads. Plus, it autosyncs files between multiple computers if you set up your account in more than one place. Very convenient. Here's my referral link, if you choose to use it we both get an extra half gig or something of free space.

*EDIT* Oh, yeah, thread relevant stuff. I decided to go for Field Crafter this weekend to Nethergoat, and I'm simply shocked at how much return there is in common IOs. I'm mostly chasing the +2 salvage inventory badges though, and will probably get bored with it before I see the whole of Field Crafter through.
  11. Glad you like the thread Jetpack.

I'm adding a new tip: After you make your first million from vendoring recipes, start crafting generic IOs. Even buying the recipe from the table and paying for salvage at Buy It Nao prices, you can make a very nice return on the high volume IOs (accuracy, damage, healing, defense, resist, endurance reduction, endurance modification, recharge reduction).

I've just recently started going for Field Crafter. Well, more specifically, I wanted to expand my Salvage inventory, and found the crafting badges to be the fastest way to do that. In the course of making some Accuracy, Damage, and Healing IOs, I made almost 50M for about an hours work. They sell almost as fast as I can list them if I'm willing to list them at break-even pricing, and generally return a 50% to 100% profit.

I'm spending money faster than I can make it right now, as I'm in the market for 3 Kinetic Combat sets and 3 Obliteration sets. Kinetic Combat is EXPENSIVE. Worst thing is, I really need one of them to day, to maximize my defenses for an AE arc that contains a fight with an Extreme difficulty AV that has a Dominator primary, Scrapper secondary, and three mid-fight ambushes @.@ Crazyness! I'm also hoping to hit 38 before the big event so I'll have Weave, which should bump my defences up above 35% at level 38.

This morning I had about 150M liquid and... well, I dunno how much in assets, 'cause I wasn't paying that much attention.
  12. Today I spent 100k a pop on all the common and uncommon salvage I needed to craft the enhancements I had purchased for my Scrapper. Why? No real reason.
  13. It was entirely a case of not following my own advice. Instead of cutting my losses when the price dipped a bit, I hunkered in to wait... and then the price dropped more, and more... and the bids I had in kept filling... yeah, it's a mess. Oh well. It's not like it'll take long to make back. I'll be over a billion by the end of the weekend, most likely.

As to my scrapper: Yeah, I'm finding Obliteration to be rather rare! I'm almost tempted to stray into multiple-of-5 territory, but I'll hold off on that until the 40s.

I've got a build set up for I19 that has scapped smash/lethal defence, Hasten with less than 20 second downtime, and enough Accuracy and To Hit to hit a defense-capped +2 95% of the time. Sadly, it's not nearly as expensive a build as I had hoped, and only uses one purple set.
  14. So, most of a week later, I'm at about 600m. I made a massive error in judgement, sunk a whole bunch of inf into a slow moving IO, and now the bottom has dropped out on the price. Basically locked about 700m away that I'll never see a profit for and will likely take a very long time to get any return on at all. Time to eat the listing fees and free up my slots, because the opportunity cost on keeping the slots full for a second weekend is too high.

I've begun slotting my Scrapper. I found the difference between level 50 IOs and level 35 IOs to be less than half a percent to my Smashing and Lethal defenses, so I'm buying up all my sets as I continue to level past 36. Significant amounts of inf disappeared into a single Obliteration set, because I was impatient to slot up Lightning Rod, but I'm lowballing and waiting on the rest.

Wait, that can't be right, flippers don't cause prices to rise...
You're talking about different systems, though. Your analogy was an advertised fixed-price system. The buyer knows exactly what they'll pay, and the seller knows exactly what they'll get.

In the double-blind consignment house of City of Heroes, salvage flippers have a stabilizing effect. They'll stop the price from tanking to nothing, which means there will be a steady supply, which means you don't get spikes into the hundreds of thousands near as often. Even then, because the flippers can't establish perfect control of supply without being some kind of robot, you can always get it for the price the flipper is willing to pay.

Actually, this seems to illustrate a common misconception about the consignment house. It is NOT a store, it's a commodities exchange. That ten tons of potatoes (white salvage) doesn't get a fixed price tag and a spot on the shelf, it goes for whatever the market will bear, with middle-men that will try to grab it up cheap and sell it high. If you want to supply your store with french fries, you can either pay the 'going rate' (buy it nao) or wait to find it on the cheap (lowball and check back in ten minutes).
  16. Your analogy scenario give you a great opportunity, though: You already know you can make a profit on lemonade at 15 cents a glass. So, you whip up another batch, price it at $1.50 a glass, and then giggle as your competition has to decide between investing more to buy you out again or waiting for almost everyone to buy yours first. They've done the drudgery of finding out how much the market would bear, now you get to make an almost guaranteed higher profit off of it.

I actually incorporated my crazy big piles of Inf into the storyline for my current primary RP character, and it's been a surprisingly entertaining and useful story-hook to have someone who's IC crazy rich. Probably caused as many problems as it's solved, and has provided great amusement for my RP mates.
  19. My one character that I'm seriously playing, Galvanic Flash, has no travel power mechanically. In RP terms, I use Ninja Run, Swift, and Sprint to approximate Superspeed style movement. He's a mutant that produces an overabundance of energy, and part of what he does with it is move and think really fast.
  20. Hrmm, I'm almost sorry I guess the way I did. 825ish was about where a 'real' guess would have been.

That said, totally worth it. Congrats Savos!
  21. PROFiiiwaaittaminute... that's not right...

This post makes me feel bad about NOT flipping. I do think flipping is stabilizing and helpful market activity. I just don't find it fun the way I do crafting.
  22. At 1,245 million liquid with another 800m or so listed. Burned 500m for The Crazy 88's - Virtue Chapter. I have to condition myself to start following my own advice: 1 million is less than a percent of my total assets, so I shouldn't be paying attention to it. Still, it seems like a significant amount of inf. I've made some money on Gift of the Ancients, Obliteration, Luck of the Gambler, Impervium Armor, Positron's Blast, and Performance Shifter in the past day or two.
  23. Heh, my big profit from the evening came from getting my hands on a stack of Luck of the Gambler unique recipes for less than 100 million a piece. No big secret, just happened to throw a billion at a long shot and have it pay off.
  24. The point of Inf destruction is to attempt, in some small way, to fight inflation. Removing money from the system should eventually cause more stable, lower prices if we can remove enough of it.

Though, most marketeers do it just for teh lulz.
