field crafter
I have the accolade on two toons; although there may be a more effective strategy and guide out there, here is what worked for me:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Gaining_..._Crafter_Badge
I chose to focus on one enhancement type across recipe levels for the sake of simplicity (and future profit on the sale of the enhancements). I chose taunt, heal, resist, hold, end. red., recharge, acc., damage and run.
I opened the recipes in tabs in my browser (along with the guide) and placed my salvage bids to fill quickly - I wanted the salvage NAO so I could just crank out the enhancements. Back-end profits will easily compensate any excess expenditure.
It was useful to do it in Talos - I could fill up my salvage, hop to the base portal, and then craft & store in the SG base quickly and easily.
I filled up 2 enhancement bins and found it useful to have a couple extra salvage racks to help the process flow.
Even after crafting all the required enhancements you will be short of the 4th invention badge by a good number; I chose to craft level 30 and 35 damage and accuracy enhancements to fill the gap - they are VERY profitable, especially after you have the recipe memorized.
It takes a couple of hours and some attention to detail throughout but it's definitely worth the effort.
Thanks for the tips!
I'm planning on working my way through the stuff I can sell now for a profit, then getting the accolade a bit later after I build up a nest egg. Somebody had a printable checklist they'd made up years ago, I was hoping it was still floating around somewhere...

Also anything that you craft for an sg base counts, even if you never place them.
Anything crafted from an empowerment station also counts. so basically whenever you log the character in craft as many empowerments as you can for the toon and that will help.
Squez did it, in this forum, but it was pre-forum-changeover and it looks like got mulched.

The paragonwiki page doesn't have what you need?

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
I've got a printable 3-page list of all the recipes, their ingredients and little checkboxes to tick every time you craft something. My source was an ASCII list in the old forums which I cleaned up and formatted.
The wiki is great, but I find having a paper checklist convenient. You'll be grinding this over a few days, and the progress bar in the badge window won't tell you if you need 2 more level 25 or 2 more level 30 or one of each.
Does anyone know a good place to host a file like this, it's an OpenOffice document or I could convert it to a PDF.
Oh, and the extra salvage slots and the crafting table are fantastic, totally worth the effort.

I find Dropbox to be a great place to store and share files on the web. You get 2gbs free, and can share as much or as little as you want with (AFAIK) unlimited downloads. Plus, it autosyncs files between multiple computers if you set up your account in more than one place. Very convenient. Here's my referral link, if you choose to use it we both get an extra half gig or something of free space.

*EDIT* Oh, yeah, thread relevant stuff. I decided to go for Field Crafter this weekend to Nethergoat, and I'm simply shocked at how much return there is in common IOs. I'm mostly chasing the +2 salvage inventory badges though, and will probably get bored with it before I see the whole of Field Crafter through.
Here's the thing: If you get bored, you can always come back to it later. I recommend starting with (for instance) a couple of 45-50s and 35-40s. The 10's and 15-20s go really fast.

I need to do this on a few more toons. I have it on four or five, but I market with about twenty toons. And I haven't done it in over a year so I think the bad memories have nearly all faded...

There used to be a handy one-page summary checklist; "IO Memorization Badge Tracker" by MadScientist. It's hard to find.

I had the list once myself. It would be nice to have as I 'contemplate' it on a couple of my toons.

Having completed FC 27 times (and 4 more coming up for my new Preatorians), and all for decent profit (100M+), Here's my advice:
Do your mem badges (10-40 only), then craft profitable 30-40s. Buy the 10s and maybe even the 15s & 20s from the crafting table, though you can buy cheap 15-20s from the market. In fact, during the early stages, your crafter should only be bidding on all the recipes while your mules (see below) bid on the salvage. During your mem badges, delete the crap (hold, taunt, low lvl run/jumps); even when crafting for profit, they'll just jam your slots. Now accelerate the process by muling w/your other toons to buy salvage & sell crafted IOs, as long as they're in the same SG w/enough storage.
As mentioned, your other toons should stack your base w/salvage. Then w/your crafter, buy recipes & your own salvage (after mem badges, salvage only), then also pick up your piles of salvage from the base, craft to memorize, then for profit, craft N x lvl 30, 35 & 40 dam, rech, acc, end mod, def, res, heal IOs, where N is defined by how much salvage space you have on you + in your base. You should be able to craft about 100 pieces per session, store them in base, then have your other toons sell them all while picking up salvage to do it again. Come back in a day or two and repeat, and you'll get your 1000 for Master Crafter fast.
I suppose you can use e-mail for salvage transfers also--I did all mine before e-mail was useful. Park your toons in Talos for easy base-to-Went's access. If you're not using mules, then Steel's better for the university access. Red side, Cap has easy access to all 3 key points.

More slots are good. I've only done the full crafting route on Mouse Police, but she has 34 recipe slots and 22 market slots. I like that! (And I forget how much salvage slots -- 80?)

Hosannas to Panzerwaffen for the checklist, it's PERFECT!
And also thanks to everyone else who gave advice, now I'm ready to begin the assault...

My City Was Gone
I did my 45-50 recipes by just crafting whatever dropped so that my only real investement was salvage and the crafting. I actually broke even or made profit on most of my 45 or 50 level recipes. 10-30's I basically slotted on my army of alts. I gotta say that overall I doubt I actually lost money. (although I won't be so bold as to say that I made money. I didn't track it close enough for that.)
Alright looks like you've got something already Nethergoat but I'll still link to my checklist.

I'd be interested in that 1 page list from Panzerwaffen...
Other than for Master Crafter, I wouldn't craft any 45-50s, unless you want the extra recipe slots. Of all my FCs (and I got 27 of them...), I only crafted all the 45-50s on my "main" badger, who now has 29 recipe slots. Of couse, if you don't care as much about profit, then craft 45-50s during your memorization run and sell at losses (most likely) to get your extra 9 recipe slots. You'll likely make it back w/the rest of the 30-40 sales anyway [...]

I hate badging, it irritates me, but the notion of 30+ recipes, 22 went slots and 80-odd salvage....it sings to me.
After many long years, I may have to break down and do this.

I was thinking craft 50's for the "extras" - so you'd only really need to craft the big sellers like Acc, Dam, EndRed, RechRed, whatever- but you've done this about 24 times more than I have, so I concede to the voice of experience.
|
Then I usually delete the enhancements unless I know I can use them somewhere. 45s don't sell enough (most people at 42 seem to feel that they can make it 5 levels pretty quick, and wait til then to slot 50s, in my experience). And I really don't have the patience to list 10 individual 50s of an enhancement. So yeah, I burn a lot of inf that way too...
Ooh, a sarcasm detector. Oh, that's a *real* useful invention. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-sarcasm.html
So far so good, five badges down and made a serious profit...of course I'm cherry picking the 'good' stuff, but it's pretty amazing someone paid me a million inf for two level 15 defense buffs (that were listed at 25k).
I've been bidding ahead for the next day's badge and at the lower levels I've been able to pick up all my recipes for ~100 inf. Salvage is variable, but I've been doing pretty well.

I know Squez or someone had a handy guide/checklist for getting this but my search fu is weak- HALP!
I'm actually going to try for it on Crafticus in pursuit of his goal of saving Paragon City from his master by emptying it of salvage.
/edit
oh wait this should probably go in the badging forum. =/
