I think their "inf held by players" number is out by a few decimal places. Between my partner and I we have about 25B, and I'm sure there's a lot more than 56B total

I guarantee that number's out by a huge amount, maybe 10^6, since I've got about 40bn just on my various alts.

So between just me, you and your partner we're past the amount in the graphic already

Yeah, pretty sure that is wrong. I kinda wondered if the XP number was off as well. Per paragon wiki a single level 50 has 39,149,119 cumulative xp. If I am mathing it right, that would be the equivalent of only about 400 level 50 characters.

To commemorate the seventh anniversary of City of Heroes, their anniversary statistics are off by a total of seven decimal places.

i liked this article as it seemed to give us more insight into the developers than most other articles we read.

I have to admit, I'd really love to see Brass Monday in an Oroborous arc.

I have to believe that the "Inf held by players" doesn't include the market but even then there have to me more than 28 characters sitting at the 2 billion cap.

Definitely... when I saw that bit about Brass Monday, I was honestly wondering WHY they hadn't implemented this in all the years since then. They should do this now... I would love to see that. Heck, make it a new task force with Orobouros, or something. The idea is a good one and should be implemented.

I know I would love that.

As others have noted, both those figures have got to be wildly off. A simple trip to City Info Tracker can set a lower bound on both numbers of:

5,269,922,722,496 Influence on tracked characters

and

870,547,899,220 XP just on tracked 50th level characters

Would be kind of interesting to know what the actual numbers were.

I said it yesterday and I will say it again Congratulations on 7 years. I had fun last night, I went in Pocket D and partyed with the devs til the UStream thing, then I watched that, then I logged onto the live servers for a bit and saw all the new loyalty goodies, then I went to bed. Thanks again for a cool/exciting/awesome 7 years, here's to 7 or more.

I thought it was a nice article, and I really like the infographic. Anyone else surprised that 40% of characters are villains? I love CoV, and wouldn't have guessed it was that high.

There's some interesting distinctions in infographic numbers. The characters created and xp earned are stated as "since 2004" and it doesn't specify if the characters created are counting alts that were deleted since then or if it includes trial account characters or how many are level 50s. Aside, from the bouts of inf spammers, there was also a couple of incidents of SG trial account padding when the devs announced they were awarding certain number of prestige per SG member. This was back when you can invite trial characters into the SGs.

The inf number curiously is stated as inf currently held from the last 4 months...."held by players in 2011" Does that mean currently subscribed players?

The timeline says Paragon Studios was formed 11/06/2007. I didn't join the game until January of 2008, and I know it was at least six months or more, maybe a lot more, after I joined that the Paragon Studios name was announced, so what's that about?

They probably didn't distinguish between NCsoft NorCal and Paragon Studios names since it referred to the same team pretty much. But yes, 11/6/2007 is when Cryptic sold off CoX and the dev team got the NorCal tag. They got renamed to Paragon Studios in 4/14/2009.

Maybe they skip to the current name to save space on the graphic hehe.

Heh, pity such a huge percentage of those Player created missions will be utter, utter dross in the AE

Not necessarily. Players have bin burning through a lot of inf via incarnate crafting.

When Ouroboros was first introduced I got excited, hoping that gradually our time travels would expand to cover other events in the CoX timeline. Unfortunately, it never happened. As it stands, I think Ouroboros is underused for actual time travel and overused for 'stuff that does not fit anywhere else' i.e. Incarnate content.

Still, interesting statistics. Makes me wonder, with so many people playing Villains and Loyalists why the endgame is all hero orientated. Hey ho, here's to another seven years.

NO WAY near enough to make that infographic anywhere close to correct.

I have to agree with others that that inf total might be a tad low. My lone 50 has become my alt's defacto suga' momma as of late, handing out at least a million inf to each new one I've made over the past 18 months. And even with that, she's on the healthy side of 186M inf.
