If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I seem to recall MoGed scrappers sometimes dying from taking lots of tiny falling damage nicks they couldn't heal back as they hopped around. And because of the mechanics of MoG, those little damage nicks were effectively magnified by a factor of ten.
I think we were safe from dieing from falls from the beginning. Pretty sure at the beginning it only took you to 1 hp. I believe that it was one of Jacks design philosophies, that heroes didn't die from falling. My memory could be wrong... but I've been here since CoH closed beta, and that is how I remember it.

I do remember there was some weird way people could kill themselves under Atlas. I thought it was something to do with falling, getting to 1 hp, and then some power crashing which basically killed you. So... you know, wasn't the fall that killed you...

Actually, if you already had damage and you took a long fall it could kill you.

Dull pain could kill you if you were low enough on hit points when you fired it off (could be used to suicide in atlas park).

Do you mean Absorb Pain, from Empathy? Cos it can still do that.

Dull Pain increases your HP and gives you a heal. I have no idea how it could kill you.

I thought that was Jack had the father role? Like I've heard plenty of people say the farther he stays away from CoH the better.

I definitely remember MoG being regarded as a suicide button that was basically something you only used against Malta.

But I also remember when IH was a toggle... and iirc, it was so strong you could hardcap regen with like 4-5 SOs in it. Then again, they weren't even the most abusive, because a fire/fire tank could melt huge groups of +6s with burn no problem.
Thanks for the best game I've ever played. It's like I designed the perfect game for me.
THis. I drift away to other games from time to time, but something about CoH always brings me back. Part of it is the modern setting makes for a nice RP change from the glut of fantasy games, but that's not all of it.

I would have been here sooner but the forum hates me. Happy Seventh to all!
For a game I had absolutely no interest in until the NDA was lifted, I've played constantly since Launch Day, and though I've popped over to other MMOs, I've always come back here.
