    Yes, it's annoying.
Awesome guys thanks! I guess I missed that in the known issues.

Actually, the major anoyance is the helpless desk. The bizzare suggestions I'm getting from the 'Senior Specialist' handling my issue indicates that they have had limited training on this game and are going through a generic costume problem checklist with no understanding. Too bad they don't have software to flag known issues...
  2. I just bought the think tank for one of my villain toons. It shows up unlocked in the costume dialog box just fine (under heads). I tried a new costume with it, and left the facemaker. Voila, I'm back in the facemaker in my old costume. So, I redid the new costume, and saved it, and tried to load it, and I get a nul costume part error.

Also tried changing just the head, with the same result...

In an amusing/frustrating note: The response to my petition was something along the lines of, check to see if you have supergroup mode turned on as that can effect the chest emblems. I would be mad, but help desk's everywhere seem to throw generic junk out in the first salvo without bothering to read the problem description, sigh.
  3. I'm a feeling a bit conflicted.

    Pros:
This is probably needed so that the game can continue for a few more years.
They are promising new content on a more frequent basis; great news if they can deliver.

    Neutral:
Free accounts look a lot like extended trials, no harm/no foul there. I like newbs.

    Cons:
It is sad to see the game reach this stage.
it isn't quite clear what will happen to my pre-existing toons when I come back for a peek.

Kind of takes all the fun out of playing in the first place since it's a faux pas to skip to the next group for eclipse/mire. At least I got some new stuff though.
Yep, AOE's are a lot more fun when there is an actual group of mobs to hit.

I'll concede that it's possible that some of the groups despawn (particularly the groups that would be closest to Marauder during and after the cutscene), but I know for a fact that not all of them despawn.
I have been on leagues two times that bypassed the mobs in the courtyard, and neither time were any of the mobs left (however there could have been a group left somewhere). Both of those teams occurred a couple of weeks after I20, so perhaps it was patched? In any case, your more recent experience is no doubt a better measure of what to expect. And frankly, it wouldn't be the first (or last) time I thought I witnessed something and turned out to be wrong.

For what it's worth, I'm usually one of the last to load on Lambda for whaterver reason. I'm not sure why I should care that the party starts before I finish loading.

Oh look, an ignorant ,rude S.o.B, P.o.S...lets play whack-a-mole!

Anymore. If I do a trial without the usual group of friendly misanthropes I hang with. I start off all of it with a series of questions based on this list. So I know exactly what I am dealing with. That is, after I place the new foam rubber mat down just in front of my keyboard on my desk. It saves us both later...
LOL I pretty much do whatever the leader says, because it makes the missions go smoother if everyone is on the same page. However, be careful; attitudes like this suck all the fun out of the game.

    Back

Welcome back! Lots of changes over the last 5 years.
  8. Welcome back!

I'm not sure its necessary to start a new toon, but any old toon you play will definitely need to be respecced. The biggest changes are Invention Origin, Inherent Fitness, and (of course) Incarnate powers.

This happens a lot in the trials as everyone assumes that jumping in first to every mob will yield better iXP and better chance for higher tier drop tables. Mostly just leads to frustration for the League Leader and anyone that happens to be on TS or Vent with that person
Some of these are pretty good, but this one is just plain silly. The reward tables have nothing to do with jumping into the spawns, and probably little to do with iXP. The only fun part of these repetitive trials is mobbing the mobs. Waiting for the leader to say sally forth when everyone has done the dang thing a 100 times or more is a waste of time and typing.

[guns on the wall, only boss xp]
If you are going to leave the guns on the wall, why not leave the mobs in the courtyard? They despawn anyway. Personally I like taking them all out just because it is kind of fun.

Actually, if you already had damage and you took a long fall it could kill you.

Dull pain could kill you if you were low enough on hit points when you fired it off (could be used to suicide in atlas park).
  11. I've been repeatedly crashing in Lambda sector. I sent you the dialog box msg, nslookup, and the log. I sent it in two parts because it was over the character limit.
  12. I get a client crash pretty regularly in lambda. The server crashes seem pretty rare now. But in this case there is an error message which passes too fast for me to read, it seem something like texture not found. The new patch that allows for deeper file continuity checking did not locate the missing texture, though it appeared to do the check.
  13. Yay, was finaly on a team that won BAF. Fighting at the chokepoints N and S of tennnis courts (2 teams South, 1 team North) seemed to work a lot better than the three zone strategy.
  14. Hmm, just had two crashes on BAF where entire league lost map. Kind of anoying.
  15. New content is fun!
Failed BAF on Tuesday, failed 3 Lambda's on Wednesday and finaly won the 4th (all four were 8 person team), also unlocked interface. Biggest plus of all is the merciful time limit which puts an underpowered/unprepared team out of their misery. Both trials are fun,but Lambda gets the nod for being easier to start with just 8 people.

I was a little disappointed that the LFG button was being ignored for setting up BAF on Wednesday (it was being used for the Lambda's on Thursday). I kind of like the randomness it introduces.
  16. It appears to work just fine in Quills:
Quills deals 55.61 points of lethal damage to Man O' War.
Quills deals 55.61 points of lethal damage to Protean.
You blast Man O' War for 246.3 points of bonus fire damage!

  17. I wouldn't say Trapdoor is invincible, but the mission did go from PITA, to not worth doing on more than one or two lvl 50's. For those of you that talk difficulty, you need to realize that most people who want 'hard' MMOs are playing harder MMOs...

IMHO the patch was counter-productive (except fixing the lava bug which was a cheesey way to win). I just wish I had read about the patch before doing an I19 respec on an old stone tanker. I messed with Trapdoor and clones for a silly amount of time.

I'm not goint to sort through my temp powers to find a combination that will enable me to kill Trapdoor and his clones more quickly. I'm probably not going to bother forming a team to get trapdoor. What I will do is put this old stone tanker back on the shelf and play the other toons that got through prior to the patch.

Life is too short to beat my head against the wall.
  18. Am I the only one that looks on I20 with a bit of apprehension? With IOs, toons are as overpowered (peraps more so) as they were before the Global Defense Nerf and Enhancement Diversification. Adding inherent stamina and the incarnate system may make it seem even more unbalanced.

I won't be surprised to see some 'balancing' in issue 20. Not doomsaying here, just a bit of trepidation; GDN and ED were painful.

I've played COH/COV sporadically for a long time and it seems to me that there have always been one runner per group. That's one of the things that make taunt and holds useful.

    CoP Trial Run

I there is room, I would like to bring Spinnaker (now a villain). He is a scrapper, but should have all the listed items by Sunday (currently has everything but the nuclear missile).

On a side note, I had forgotten how tedius the warburg missiles are (even when there are no PvPrs trying thwarting). OTOH the shivan was a lot easier to get than I remember, it feels like the base where you craft the shivan has been toned down.

On another note, there was some PvP going on in the Warburg durring one of my runs, but no one griefed me, which was both surprising and gratifying. Are the PvPr's always this nice on Protector these days?

    Best Part of GR

New zones are really nice looking, and the branching story arcs make the stories feel more alive.
  22. Dual Blades/Willpower Brute, Samarai costume, Name - Bankur
    I'm clearly out of concepts.

  23. Yay Canada! Any country that allows their Navy to serve beer while at sea must be doing something right.

    New GR Video

Nice teaser. It certainly explains why there haven't been many new oficial arcs in a long while. They have been saving up. Any word on what happens to super/villain group afilitiation to somone cycling from one side to the other?

In any case I look forward to seeing the new stuff!
