Copyright/Profane question
seems kind of odd, you should be able to use names that are CoH property like recluse, ect
might be an oversight or a bug im guessing
That is the only name I've had this problem with. So I'll just bug it.
edit: Now it is saying that with Lord Recluse as well. Numina and Vanessa DeVore didn't give me any problems.
Try adding a Cyclops from the Cimeroran Traitors faction, and naming it Cyclops. Or a Shredder from the Destroyers, and naming it Shredder. The AE copyright/profanity filter is EXTREMELY strict.
@Roderick
/em headdesk.
That is all.
The AE swear filter should match the game's swear filter, and the "copyright" filter needs to go die in a fire. It's not like people can't create blatantly copyright-infringing arcs even with the stupid thing in place, and I want to use "Gunslingers" in an arc title, thank you very much, since it refers to an in-game NPC not some Marvel team that I hadn't heard of until I googled "slingers" to find out why it was filtered.
Yeah. Kill it with fire and bury the remains. /end rant.

I'm with you Eva. Apparently a new list of words went in with the last patch. "Aragon" seems to be one of them, so everything with "Paragon" in the title is now flagged unusable. Also "spider". "Sentry" "Emerald" ....a lot more. Most of my character groups (previously existing) have been flagged unusable. Basically, really pissed off right now.

Reports seem to indicate that using a number of the ingame characters' names doesn't work.
Also, you can talk ABOUT "copyright infringing material" in descriptions and dialogue, you just can't name characters or mission objectives after it.
I'm gonna update this post with silly generic words that shouldn't be in the copyright filter.
Currently found:
"Warlord" "Death" "Guardian" "Apocalypse"
Notably not on the list:
"Bub"
There are a dozen uses for any of these words in character/object/objective names that wouldn't step on the toes of any copyright holder. Unless you mean to tell me that "Death" is a swear word. "Crap" gets tagged by the ingame profanity filter, yet is perfectly valid as a custom group name.
Mission Arc: Metatronic Mayhem (Id 1750): A tale of robots gone wrong, rogue robots gone right, and madmen gone every which way but loose.
It seems like if I create a custom critter and give it the same name as an npc, for example I created a custom Castle and called it "Castle", it will think I'm breaking some copyright.
Since Castle doesn't exist as a normal fighting critter in the editor I have to create a custom version, which fortunately I can make to look exactly like the trainer Castle in Peregrine Island, since he's not using any unique costume pieces.
I bet that if I used the existing Castle model, an npc who can't fight and probably doesn't exist outside of the contacts list so can't even be used as a critter inside missions, and called it Castle, I could get away with it.
This is all incredibly stupid.
I'm having another problem with a mission not letting me enter, instead giving me a popup that says "MADoorInvalid" before auto-quitting the arc. The mission has no errors and will start fine, letting me talk to the contact and everything. Someone said that it might be because it's a doppelganger mission, they had a similar experience.
Winner of Players' Choice Best Villainous Arc 2010: Fear and Loathing on Striga; ID #350522
"MADoorInvalid" Check to see if you are in the LFG queue. That also causes this to happen.
Words not usable:
Paragon
Magnetic (or any variation there of)
Blitzkrieg
Names of enemy groups can no longer be used. For example my custom character "Blitzkrieg" is invalid not just because of his name, but also because he is in the group "5th Column".
This is insane and needs to be fixed asap.

"Cabal" is banned. If you write an arc specifically about the Cabal, you can't refer to them by name. It's not a new problem either, I first discovered this a couple months after the Architect went live.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...

*Please note this is putting it mildly.
Wow. This CAN'T be WAI. Anyone PM Dr. A or a Community Rep?
Craft your inventions in AE!!
Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!
I just PM'd Zwillinger and linked him to this thread, kinda summed up the situation and why the aggressive filtering is pretty silly and ineffectual, and that we're kinda frustrated at suddenly finding our arcs broken.
Suppose not much else to do now but wait, and hope. And gripe of course. Always with the griping.
Mission Arc: Metatronic Mayhem (Id 1750): A tale of robots gone wrong, rogue robots gone right, and madmen gone every which way but loose.
I directed a tweet at Positron in the hopes he will look at the issue or pass it on to someone that will or at least let us know this is not working as intended.
- 2010 Player's Choice Best Heroic arc
- 316 plays still 5 stars
- Numerous 5 star reviews on the boards
- Over a dozen recommendations for Dev's Choice
- An awesome promotional video made about it
- Listed in PW's great Contact Tree thread

Ok, one of my arcs is now unplayable, and the other can't be edited, because of this crap. Of course it's not triggering an orange warning message, so I don't know what's causing it....but one of the warnings when I try to save and test is that it's in the Enemy Group Override field. I do have an enemy group named Crey Security, that may be it, based on other people's reports that in-game names are being filtered.
Time to send some angry PMs.

just did a quick check of my arcs and my story arc appears to be broken
when i go to start it and hit accept, then nothing happens
the arc ID is 366083, when i tried editing it, there were no apparent errors
i have checked a few of my other arcs and one which has a ton of named AVs in it is not borked (and it has statesman, recluse, honoree, and numerous other CoH names in it)
We've identified some issues where the naming filter for MA is being a bit overzealous. Right now we're on compiling a working list of which filters are actually causing this and evaluating how best to proceed.
No ETA on a fix just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
Thanks for the reports all and apologies if your missions/your favorite missions are effected.

So I was editing a mission I use to test my Scrapper against various AVs. I added Sister Psyche as a boss and named her 'Sister Psyche'. It gave me an error because it is either profane or copyrighted.
Um, what gives?
