  1. LR: Attend, fool! I, Lord Recluse, have come here to obtain that most rare of prizes-
    CM: Where's the beef!?
LR: Not now, Mako. As I was saying-
CM: That meat is *cooked*!! Where do you keep the raw meat!? Don't tell me you don't have any raw meat here!
    LR: Mako, that's not the-
CM: I'll have to make do with the raw meat that *is* available here! Starting with-
    GW: I'm not with them.
(And all LR wanted was a Happy Meal. It's rough being a tyrannical overlord....)
  2. No worries here. They're gonna have to pry my characters off of the cold dead servers long before I even consider deleting a one of them!

Ok spent a few hours last night and I think I figured the problem. The main issue is YOU CANNOT TELL VISUALLY WHEN LEVEL SHIFTED.

The devs need to make your "50" on the UI say 53, 55, 59 etc. Here is why:

The level shift buff from the Lightwells HAS A LIMITED AOE SIZE. I noticed people that never died did not have a level shift. I know for a fact it has limited radius, what I also think its team specific. If someone not on your team kills a well no buff. Likewise if you are not in range.

I observed this on leagues yesterday. On a league of 24 only about 40% were +9 shifted. Also, each well gives only a +2 shift because I noticed several people only 55 at times.

Ultimately, the devs need to add a numerical value to the UI that shows your level plus shifts. This is the main issue. Players are not noticing they are not shifted.
There may not be something on the direct UI for showing the level shift...but there is an entry in the "Monitor Combat Attributes" that shows a level shift value. I noticed it a month or so ago, and couldn't be sure if it had always been there and I was just noticing, or if it was something new. Choosing to monitor that line might do the job.

Of course, that's a decidedly nonintuitive method, and I don't know if it'll show the extra shifts in this trial. It's something I'll have to try to remember to do sometime.
  4. If the signature characters weren't to be used, they would never have been put into the Mission Architect to begin with. It ain't stealing a character when the character was given to you.
  5. You indicated that you hadn't yet got your alpha slotted, and that might be part of the issue. I was able to solo it without help for the badge with an archery/devices blaster, but I had my tier-3 alpha and my tier-1 lore and judgments slotted (the latter two as a result of DA arcs and street sweeping in DA; the Alpha'd been slotted thanks to some TFs I'd done prior to this Issue), and they helped. (Also helping was about a dozen trip mines per group of EBs and a whole lot of purples; good thing they refilled my inspiration tray as they fell....)

It may be worth running some of the repeatables in DA, street sweeping there, or repeating the arcs prior to the Cimerora ones to build yourself up to alpha slotting; even a +1 level shift can help here. Alternatively, I don't know what difficulty settings you have, but it may be possible to turn them down to -1/x0. And load up on the purples. They can't hurt you if they can't hit you.

Edit: Incidentally, under no circumstances would I have called this EASY; I still ended up faceplanting a number of times.....

    i22 AE Changes?

I've heard this from other AE editors. It's a safe bet that it's a bug.

Unfortunately, I can at least debunk the "rogue" part of that statement. Last night I was with a team of heroes doing the hero version; I was using a rogue aligned character. Our team lead was level 30; and all the Carnies were still level 40. "Mopped up the floor with us" is putting it kindly....

There were many disappointed people at City Hall when they learned that "Free Six Day" was not a typo.

Ayup. Former Master Ranger here. And it was a lot like that.

But their loss is CoH's gain, I'd say! (Opinions vary as to whether or not CoH gained anything by me being here. )
  11. To be honest, it was never true for me. After seeing the devs for the first MMO I played engage in a scorched earth philosophy towards its playerbase, in a game I honestly thought I WOULD be around until their servers shut down, I find it hard to apply that statement to any MMO I've played.

As it stands right now, I'm not going anywhere; I haven't been around as long as a fair chunk of vets (having only really arrived around shortly before I-7), but I've been here longer than any other MMO I've done. The devs here haven't had the collective insanity I've seen strike other devs of games converting to a Freemium model, nor are they engaging in the same scorched earth attitude as my first MMO's devs did; sure, there's things that the devs here do that occasionally set my teeth on edge, but nothing on the scale that makes me say "forget it; I'm out".

As long as they keep on in that vein, I'm here.
  12. Just my two cents:

I got my server transfer token at start of the month (the only thing to go as expected).

I got my Paragon Points a week prior to my billing date.

I got my first non-Paragon Point related reward token yesterday.

I've made note of the dates on all of the above; it'll be interesting to see if any of this remains remotely consistent.

When you bring a praetorian character into your SG and that character has never been in an SG before, there is a 100k bonus to compensate for those levels the character missed being able to contribute.

Comparatively, it's a very good deal, considering that most of my level 20 toons had earned far, far less. I can't recall specifically, but the number 45k comes to mind.

That's 1 thing - play on the gold side until level 20, then have the character join your group.

Next - PvP missions. In siren's call, if memory serves, there are missions that can be done to boost one faction or debuff another, depending on the mission done. Because of the risk in entering pvp zones - these missions give extra rewards - and prestige is part of that.

Now, I'd missed about 3 1/2 years so that last part could have changed. Use your search-fu to see if it's still in effect. Mine is pretty weak.

Lastly, there are prestige boosts available from the store, and I believe some are accessible through vet awards. They're temporary, last for an hour, but they are useful in the short run.

If you can, run your missions with bosses - as bosses earn more - but killing speed factors into this. On toons that have good AoE (fire tank, brute) they can probably clobber 10 minions faster than one boss and thus it would be more efficient to just leave bosses off the map.

    Hope that little bit helps.
Also worth mentioning: the Monitor Duty day job. Logging off by your base portal will yield a buff to mission completion prestige-15 percent, 25 if you get the Monitor Duty badge. Every little bit.
  14. Ditto here; date is the 19th (or 18th; one of the two) and got my points either yesterday or the day before (I didn't check the day before).

It'll be interesting to see if the vet token shows up this month, too....
  15. Flee for your lives! Flee!

Just kidding! Welcome to all the new players!

    Vet powers?

They're in a new location. Check your in-game email, and look for account unlocks.
  17. In that case, then, I'll keep my fingers crossed!
  18. Now, did they say they were looking into it, or did they say the publishing team handles that kind of thing? From the notes I'd seen from yesterday's UStream, it sounded like the latter. (Of course, if this is info from more recently-good! )

    Vault

It's pretty simple-it's a place to store invention salvage for yourself. In effect, using /vault increases your readily available invention salvage storage.

You can find out more about it here: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Vault_Reserve
  20. I'm going to blame you for causing me to stay up far too late last night messing with this application.

Been years since I did anything involving playing MtG, but I foresee spending quite some time with it making cards for my SGs now....
  21. I've got a couple reroll plans. One reroll is an energy/energy Blaster to a Beam/Energy Blaster-it fits in with the original concept for that character just a bit better, and he's not so high level right now that it causes me fits.

The other is a Mind/Emp Controller to a Mind/Time Controller; as he's currently at level 50, it does cause a bit of a wince to do; thankfully, with the free character transfer per month around, I can simply transfer the level 50 version to a "retirement server" on the outside chance that I end up truly hating Time Manipulation.

  23. Just offering up my thanks for the info; I've got at the very least one character who really, really suits this emote to a "T".

    Issue 21

Latest info is "This Year". Beyond that? Nobody knows.
  25. It will probably be handled like any new player who wants to have a page for their characters. Virtueverse doesn't have any special access to CoH accounts to see who is a Free player and who isn't.

From a personal standpoint, I couldn't imagine why we'd turn away a user because he's a F2P player. Some may be troublesome, but that's no different than some folks who have a sub.
